  1. If you insist on using IE, then get a piece of software called SpywareGuard - it protects against a lot of hijacks and it's free - always good.

If you ever take something apart, then after putting it back together find a whole bunch of stuff that used to be in the said item, keep it. Little bits of electronics stuff (resistors, capacitors, etc) are extremely useful. Nuts, bolts, screws, etc are always good. Personally I tend to think "hmm, this could be useful", then just put it in my pile of stuff to use up. Just remember to mark up what the said item is first, especially if it's electronical.

    Any good?
  5. Odd thing to be arguing about.
  6. Perhaps other people didn't notice the problem? And if it was done at a time when people weren't going to be online, then clearly there's not going to be a lot of other people around to notice.
  7. In all fairness, flushing a piece of caesium down the toilet is not likely to kill you or seriously injure you. Messing around with radioactive materials is just stupid. And, to be fair, the person in question probably wouldn't have known what would happen when she flushed it down the loo.
  8. It's more likely to be a server-side problem, although I can't imagine what that might be. Our hosts messing around with the db again?
  9. Although it's probably not my place to say so, I daresay it is.

rofl, nice one. I'd offer a picture of my lab, apart from the small fact that I don't actually have one
  11. I believe there have been numerous books written on the subject of finding hidden codes, one of which I have read (called "The Bible Code" - original title), and that's made me rather skeptical of such codes existing.
  12. I think that would be me saying I preferred DC++. Nevermind. Trying desperately to drag the thread back on topic, it's almost certainly illegal to be putting up download links to copyrighted material on here. Hence it's not really plausible to do that - however, if people make their own music and want to showcase it on here, that'd be quite good. I can't imagine many people on here make their own stuff though.
  13. I dunno, you can get some people with rather large collections on DC++. Also, torrents tend to run dry for older things that many people don't share anymore.
  14. Unfortunately he's said that he won't step down, which I think is a bit of a blow really

Yeah, those words pretty much fit the bill
  16. I have to say I don't find it that appealing, much prefer things like DC++.
  17. Personally I think it's a great idea (as I'm sure I've already said); it'd be a great way to pull in new people even if it is edging a bit (read: quite a lot) on pseudoscience. For budding writers, it's a nice way to get some feedback and bounce new ideas around.
  18. Not sure putting torrents up is entirely legal, especially if you're not going to be paying royalties on the copyright. It's a good idea, but I'm not sure it'd be very popular tbh. I dunno, maybe that's just me being pessimistic
  19. Fair enough It is a good point to be honest. I have never seen the point in just firing yourself into space for maybe a couple of minutes and, as you say, wasting a lot of precious resources in the process - as well as having to pay a hefty price for it. Maybe they should pump some of that money into solving some useful problems.
  20. My take on it is that there is so much bad air in that place that the war isn't going to stop until something absolutely horrific happens. Sad but true.
  21. If it's used for the purpose of travel, then surely it's better to do it this way rather than waste 90% of the fuel you'd otherwise use though? Having said that, I think it's only viable for long distance travel. You're obviously not going to use it for short hops around America or whatever.
  22. I reckon it'll be available in the next 10 years, but it's gonna be way too expensive for your average Joe Bloggs to go into space. And not everyone is going to be going on a replica of SpaceShipOne. There's plenty of other ideas (like the space-plane) for a re-usable method of going into space. Plus, there's the added bonus that it takes a very short amount of time to get from, say, the UK to Australia. If you go by plane, it takes about 24 hours. On a commercial space plane, it'd take considerably less time.
  23. Because in all likelyhood, there isn't an extra 80mb on a 700MB disk. Technically, you can only have 700MB tops on a CD. However, if you buy an 800MB disk, there is the facility to overburn another 100MB on top of the 700 there normally are.
  24. Yeah, the window server to handle the UI, and basically everything that you actually see on the screen. It's a total re-write from the pre-OS X versions.

    WMA --> MP3

Or just google for wma converter, they're pretty easy to find. The only problem is if you've bought them off of somewhere like Napster, it's impossible to convert them over to mp3s, so only WMP will actually play them. Damned DRM crap.
