  1. Yes there is: http://www.freebsd.org/platforms/ppc.html Also, OS X is built on Darwin, which is Apple's adaptation of FreeBSD, although the kernel is unchanged. They then built all the UI stuff and the window server from scratch, I believe.
  2. I daresay the CDs can be made from recycled paper.
  3. I'd be a bit shocked if they didn't; but then again, I've met a guy that actually thought the world was flat, so there you go.
  4. Thunderbird does rock immensely.

That's because the error blocks are integral to the protection on the CD. It has to read through them all otherwise the disc will be dud. You're literally making a bit for bit copy of the CD.

I'd like to say I'm surprised, but I'm not
  7. There is no general form for that integral. If you specify a function for y(x) I might be able to help.
  8. I would think the main advantage is that Firefox is very secure (as opposed to MS's 'come and get my data' approach).
  9. Easiest way is to use LaTeX: [math]\left._{92}^{234} \mbox{U} \right.[/math] Like I said in the other thread
  10. At a guess, I'd say it would ignore it.
  11. Personally I think you're getting confused. UNIX is not the same as BSD. UNIX is designed to run on extremely high-end servers (i.e. very expensive ones). BSD is more of a server OS than Linux, but it's certainly not the same as UNIX.
  12. I think I'd show it in seperate stages rather than combine it all into one humongous equation.
  13. gah (in my defence, I was only copying out what he had written )
  14. Unless someone is prepared to offer some tangiable evidence to support your theories and the mathematics behind this, I'm prepared to either close the thread or move it elsewhere. As it stands this thread has just devolved into insult throwing, and this is not the sort of thing we want on here.
  15. Definately Science. It's also useful that if I access the website from anywhere on campus I have full access to the articles (which I didn't know about until the other day).
  16. Installing it is just like installing a bog standard CD-ROM drive. All you do is find a spare IDE connector and then shove it in (remembering to screw it to the case ). The IDE lead does have a missing pin on it so there's only 1 way to install the lead. Probably easier than installing your ethernet adapter. As far as features are concerned, it's a 4x DVD-RW drive capable of burning both + and - media (although I only use - because I'm boring).
  17. In a word: yes. Although I could be wrong.
  18. They usually cap your upstream to prevent you running servers. They obviously have to cap your downstream.
  19. I've tried many times and failed. Best bet is to just log onto MSN manually with Firefox.
  20. UNIX is designed to run on high-end systems. Linux can be run on your normal desktop PC.
  21. I think the FAA might have said something if he'd been drinking and flying at the same time
  22. "Dear World. I am leaving you because I am bored. I feel I have lived long enough. I am leaving you with your worries in this sweet cesspool. Good luck." - George Sanders
  23. Downstream 11497 Kbps (1,437.1 KB/sec) Upstream 1232 Kbps (154.0 KB/sec) I win
  24. I take it that you're of the opinion that string theorists are leading themselves up a dead end then?
  25. I think they definately deserve it; today's a milestone in the history of manned space flight and they made it possible.
