  1. What fields are we talking about btw?
  2. Doesn't look like quartz to me, texture isn't right. Could be completely wrong though
  3. I think it's a great idea (from the mouth of an avid sci-fi reader ). Are you thinking of something along the lines of roleplaying or short stories or a mixture of the two? I've known these types of forums to be quite popular elsewhere.
  4. Yes, I'll be getting myself some of that for my house next year to wake myself up in the morning
  5. I think I've seen some of those down in some of the mineral shops, they're very nice.
  6. I'm sure I must have answered this question a thousand times. Different types of CPUs have different instruction codes. If you write a program for one platform, this does not necessarily mean that the instructions are the same for any other platform.
  7. That's right. If you can do, getting more RAM is a much more sensible alternative to increasing virtual memory.
  8. Because it comes with a hell of a lot of software.
  9. I was under the impression that the Athlon64s and Opterons decimated the Itaniums?
  10. No; the reason your system will run faster with more physical RAM is that it has to write less pages to the hard disk (i.e. your virtual memory) - increasing virtual memory will likely make your system run slower.

That's blatently just a homework assignment. If you want help on individual parts, then we're prepared to help, but expecting someone else to do it for you is just plain cheating.
  12. Could try something like http://integrals.wolfram.com/
  13. That's basically it. ex involves a variable x, whereas e to the power of a constant is just that - a constant.
  14. Not so used in day-to-day programming though tbh.
  15. There was a slight problem with the server which caused quite a few threads/posts to get deleted. It's happened to everyone, don't worry about it. Don't know if we'll get the posts back or not yet though, sorry all.
  16. Yes, that's a perfectly logical explanation
  17. I think everyone's been affected. I've posted something about it so we should find out something shortly
  18. On closer inspection, there's a whole load of threads gone - like all the log stuff I did today. Might be a db problem, I'll pm one of the admins to take a look at it.
  19. I know I haven't deleted anything for a couple days. Nothing new in the deleted threads forum, so I honestly have no clue
  20. What suggestions do you want?
  21. Never really had one; probably the only one I did have was to do a good degree and I'm on that path. Have no idea what I'm going to do with my life yet though
  22. Try more or less any outdoors shop. My supermarket does them as well.
  23. Do you not think many scientists since Einstein have tried doing this?
  24. I would personally say they're pretty useful for carrying files around, since more or less everyone has a cd writer. Good for backups too.
  25. Doesn't plate tectonics explain this?
