  1. Is it legal here? Apparently you have to be registered to make any kind of explosive stuff.
  2. Oh well, it's a bit late now, the exam's tomorrow If anyone has any sudden thoughts, please let me know (all I know is that you have to show the remainder function tends to zero as n->infinity and something about the radius of convergence of that series)
  3. Doesn't always happen that way. For example, swansont is pretty knowledgable in the area of physics, and we don't often see threads going that way. People don't always have the time to write a very lengthy reply about something either, but rather just give the jist of the argument.
  4. Does the latest version of IE actually work with anything other than Windows XP?
  5. There is that problem; however, it does bring a certain kind of authority to the forums - at least you know you're going to get an answer. Plus, I don't know a single professor that hasn't made a mistake at least once a lecture, nobody's perfect

According the website, the person who won stayed up for 178 hours = 7 days 10 hrs - which is a long time.
  7. Yes, and if you're determined to mess around with it, make sure you do a backup first.
  8. Personally I reckon they just fired cannons at them, but that's just me being cynical
  9. Daresay a lack of sunlight wouldn't help either
  10. My one is for Windows 95, so I'm not up to date on the latest books. Can't really help you there. My advice would be to go onto amazon, search for some registry books and look at the reviews of them.
  11. Well, that's the plan at the moment for me

The other one they had on recently was called "Shattered" - to see how long people could stay awake for. Person who stayed awake longest got the prize. Was a big pile of <insert random obscenity here>
  13. Mainly by buying books on it tbh I have a rather large on sitting on my shelf at home. DLLs offer all kinds of functions from windows and objects on screen to menus and pointers and all sorts. Read up on the Windows API for more details.

Just as a last word, this thread according to the stats is both the most viewed and replied to thread. Just so everyone knows
  15. I'd forgotten about this thread, one of the old-time classics Glider: I think you're right, it seems to ring a bell somewhere.
  16. All kinds of programming languages have some kind of interface to the windows registry. It's an important part of the system and to not have access to it is a bit silly really.
  17. Quite a few professors would probably be interested I would have thought, but as you said it's them being able to find the time to do it. Perhaps trying to get onto people like PhD students would help?

  19. Basically I modified vB slightly to add a math tag (which was the easy bit). Then all you have to do is get something like latexrender and modify it a bit to give you the kind of image you want. It's all very clever
  20. I didn't see all the images before, they didn't load up for some reason. However I'm a little confused with your method.
  21. Quite expensive for magazine ads. I think we're being advertised to some extent by the online ads thing we have going here (at the top of the page).
  22. Unfortunately at that time I'm going to be away, but thanks for the offer (fyi, I'm nearer Birmingham, currently at Warwick University)

And they take a bed every time someone leaves apparently.
  24. That's just integration by parts, and your website appears to be broken - and indeed it has some rather funny JavaScript in it which I'm not entirely sure about.

eh? At least he responded to your post with some kind of sensible comment (after the sarcastic bit )
