  1. I daresay it'll be back after a while, no doubt sporting a better system of implementation.
  2. No matter what scientific forum you're on, you're more than likely to get people with quite frankly idiotic opinions on anything varying from religion (trueLove) to life on Mars (ExtraSense). There's nothing that we can actually do about it other than to stop them when it gets to a certain point, and I believe that we're doing that atm. It's just a necessary bi-product of advertising the forums to attract people of a more scientific nature, I'm afraid. (By we, I refer to the mod team)
  3. rofl Vibrators with the right attachments can help relieve back pain, on a more scientific note.
  4. A: Quite honestly I like the new gherkin shaped one Q: How often do you use a protractor?
  5. I think they provide us with a source of quality entertainment myself. Plus entrance fees are a bit crap really; we do want to get more people on here so we can have better discussions and I feel that implementing a fee scheme would probably counter that measure.
  6. Well, apart from that obvious reason
  7. Hey, I only did A-level physics, can't get it all right I was thinking some of that as I posted it, but couldn't really be bothered changing it
  8. Yes, eventually (albeit they will be undetectable).
  9. Nice explanation.
  10. A: Shrub. Q: Mineral water or tap water?
  11. I can't quite see how the VCR fits into that.
  12. The Harry Potter theme is (imo) one of the best ever created; it fits the films perfectly.
  13. No, 0.999 is definately 1. It's just that if you tried to write it down, it wouldn't be.
  14. Basically what we're saying is that as you add more and more 9's to the end of 0.9, eventually (i.e. in the limit) you'll get 0.999 = 1. There's been lots of debate about this in the mathematical community (as there usually is with rather small and little things such as notation).
  15. We don't know it's impossible to travel faster than light - we're still looking for things like tachyons, and although they haven't been found yet, it doesn't necessarily mean that they don't exist.
  16. Same here.

    Egg Cells

I suppose it would make sense it being the largest egg and all. But then again quite a few things in nature aren't completely logical so it would have hardly surprised me if it was the smallest
  18. Unfortunately it's not quite that simple - as I would hope this thread has demonstrated quite nicely.
  19. Yes, I'd be rather intrigued to know as well. Personally I don't think there's a problem with believing that science and religion can't be intertwined. I really can't see the problem with it
  20. It's something along those lines, yes, but just defined in a more rigourous way.
  21. I think the problem is that he's not considering the entire system. I don't really want to write another very long post on it because I've not done systems for a while now, so I'll leave it to someone else.
  22. Well, it's true
