  2. I'll tip any day of the week, but again I don't really like the idea that you're forced into it. I don't mind paying a little more for good service - but if someone's going to force it on me, I don't want to have anything to do with it.
  3. You're gonna have to change that clutch soon
  4. I never saw the point in tipping in the first place to be honest. I believe the charge they give you is the 'service charge', which annoys the hell out of me to be quite honest. It's just another way of getting more money out of you.
  5. I'm bored, so here's a nice piece of maths: Simplify sqrt(2 + sqrt(3)) - sqrt(2- sqrt(3)). A few of you may have already seen this - if so, don't spoil it for the others. It's not supposed to be hard, but it's fairly nice.
  6. octane's pretty funky.

    Engineers

Always good to have a backup plan. As long as you're sensible and don't overestimate what your limits are, then you'll do fine. Engineering is a good line of work, and from what I hear there's quite a few jobs going around as well.
  8. logic kindof goes out of the window when it comes to relationships. too many emotions.
  9. I know what you mean. Me and my dad make a 180 mile round trip to oxford from birmingham every day, and it's not exactly a pleasant experience on the roads. To have your boss be a complete git towards you after that kind of mileage is not a nice experience.
  10. used to have loads of them, don't any more though, lost them when my hd died :|
  11. http://therealm.ath.cx/ own personal website. all the design/coding etc was done by myself and it's hosted on my box here, so it may be inaccessible from about 11pm BST onwards.
  12. I'm doing 180 mile round trips to oxford every day to go to work. woo.

A few universities (about 20) run the Headstart course and put on some engineering tasks for people that attend them. I went down to Sussex University and they made us build dragsters out of balsa wood and elastic bands and the like (which sucked, it has to be said) plus we attended some lectures, but other than that, it was good fun.
  14. That'd be cool, you all seem to be raving about them I might dig out my AEA for you all to look at as well, there were a couple of nasty questions on that.

    A-level results

yah, it's graded by A-E pass grades (i.e. E is the lowest pass you can get), after that you get a U if you turned up to the exams or an X if you didn't.

thanks yah, i'd thought about what would happen here so i thought i'd better actually do a bit of revision before blindly walking into the exams
  19. Anyone got an example of one of these questions if there's no paper around?

  23. that's a nice applet you've got there unfortunately I can't be bothered to wade through the text atm, so I'll look later, but I'd agree that something's wrong for sure.
