  1. rofl Where do you get all these from Phi?
  2. Use an image manipulation program like PSP or Photoshop.
  3. All league tables need to be taken with a rather large pinch of salt imo. I'm at Warwick, and in my opinion (which, tbh, is all that really counts) I think it's getting up there.

It's a bit sad really, the guy's done a lot of good.
  8. I don't think anyone would really.
  9. It's basically a short-distance communications protocol, used for things like synchronising your contacts/organiser/calendar/etc with your computer's, transferring small files, etc.
  10. I've spent about £150 so far on my sound system for my computer. I have a £250 sony amplifier (STR-DE585) which I managed to pick up for £70 from eBay. My dad had some kickass speakers that I used for my fronts, and my backs are 2 £50 speakers which I managed to pick up for £25 each. My centre speaker/sub are on order
  11. Gotta be Diet Coke.
  12. J'Dona's background is rather nice. Any linkage?
  13. I think the idea is to use mathematical methods and bypass the actual calculation part.
  14. Or if you're so inclined, you can even use the product rule. Just set the denominator to [math](x^2 - 4)^{-1}[/math].
  15. Just as an example: find the stationary points of [math]f(x) = x^2 + 2x + 5[/math]. [math]f'(x) = 2x + 2[/math]. Setting this to zero, we can find stationary points. So: [math]f'(x) = 0 \Rightarrow 2x + 2 = 0 \Rightarrow x = -1[/math] Sticking this back into our original equation, we get that [math]f(2) = 4[/math] so we have a stationary point at (-1, 4).

No, we don't tend to get a lot of that kind of stuff over here.

    SFN was down...

Generally speaking, it's a "bad idea" to run PHP as a CGI client when you have the entire libphp module that can be built into apache2. The main reasons for this are the obvious ones: security and performance. That message was just php telling people that it'd been misconfigured. It would be rather annoying if it just said "something's wrong, deal with it."

  20. Just so you know, there's still that index file at http://www.scienceforums.net telling people to check back later. You might want to get rid of that
  21. So do I. Moved.
  22. Not very much. You can pick them up from as little as £30-40 now.
  23. That looks familiarly like a homework problem to me. Don't expect us to do your homework for you
  24. Like to keep mine fairly clean too. The picture is a photo I took in Dartmoor, down in Devon.
