I second that. The man actually knows what he's doing - or at least, what he's supposed to do. Bush doesn't have a clue from what I've seen.

Or convert to binary, and then it's a simple conversion to get from that to hex.

We did this in the two weeks of university? Or at least I did.

Man, that's really gonna do some damage. Two storey high waves ffs!

Sorry about the expired ones, not a lot I can do about it

Yup. I don't think that equation represents any special kind of geometric object, but I suppose I'm probably wrong
-
Don't think so. It's almost the equation of a circle, but with a radius of -1 - heh.

Think of how we do the decimal system: hundreds, tens and units: HTU 110 = 1 * 100 + 1 * 10 + 0 * 1 We handle hexidecimal in the same way, except we have powers of 16 instead of powers of 10 as our "bits". And instead of just going up to 9, we can use 0-9 and A-E (A = 10, E = 15). For example: 16 1 A E = 16 * 10 + 15 * 1 = 175 in decimal Hope this helps a bit, I think the way I've worded it is a bit complex though - mainly because it's 3am and I'm quite tired

Currently using about 25mb, so not an awful lot.

Just for my curiosity, what do you all see in anime? I really can't stand it.

I have 6 gmail invites available. If anyone wants one, PM me or e-mail me.

Well, it's a bit more involved than that. Biology's a pretty diverse subject and encompasses both human, animal and plant life so you'll have to be a bit more specific
-
Quite. It's very apparent in the police, according to what the news tells us.

Who knows? Anyway, I think I've just about had enough of this thread. We've pretty much exhausted the topic, so I'm going to close it unless anyone has major objections.

This is the precise problem that Bush has landed your country in: what the hell do we do now? If invalding Iraq was truly a part of the "war on terrorism" - which, for the record, I highly doubt - what next? Do we go invade Iran as well, Syria, or what? This is the ideal example of opening Pandora's Box. Now that Bush has declared war on all terrorists and started overthrowing countries, more and more terrorist groups are just going to pop up all over the place and the situation is going to decline rapidly. As for dealing with the present, part of that is sort the foreign policy out completely. That policy has lead to a few wars, the WTC being demolished, God knows how many human lives and a lot more. When is going to be a good time to deal with it? 10 years time? Unless something is done to correct the issue immediately, there's always going to be excuses to put it off. So I guess what I'm saying is: sure, sort Iraq out (because Christ knows something needs to be done), but look at what has already happened - it should be blatently obvious that a policy that dictates to the world is not a good route to go down. To address another issue: Your present Government just isn't listening to anyone. Do you really think that Bush is going to come along and say: "Hey, that war on Iraq was just a bad idea all along! Let's call it quits and get some peace convoys in!" No. Because he'd kill his political career - which is what this war is really about when it comes down to it. So if people moan and moan and moan, then something may get done eventually. The only way I can foresee anything of good happening is when someone gets elected that cares a bit more for helping the world out rather than getting re-elected, and that person most certainly is not Bush.

The attitude of "it's someone else's problem, let them sort it out" is quite apparant throughout a number of your posts and this puts the nail in the proverbial coffin. This approach really does not work in a democratic system - each and every person in the country (ideally) should submit a vote, but many people just can't be bothered to go out there and cast their opinion because they think other people will do it. Funny that, because he acts like he does - what with invading Iraq and all. (sorry, had to get that in) On the discussion of one of the early posts: How exactly do you win a war on terrorism?

Mainly it's either password guessing or exploits - and ofc DDoS. Good luck trying to get around the firewall.

I was feeling fairly suicidal the other night so decided to install it and see what happened. Nothing died (which is a plus side) but there have been a few little driver problems. On the whole, it's okay. Having said this, my hard drive will probably melt as fate's way of being a pain.

Use it as a linux box. Or a footrest. Maybe both if you're feeling adventerous. My linux box is a pretty 400mhz PIII running gentoo and it rules the planet via my uberleet serial connector.

Discrete Math: Completely Worthless?
Dave replied to Firedragon52's topic in Linear Algebra and Group Theory
I'm not sure this is the right kind of thing to be saying tbh. From the other stuff you've posted (mainly equivalence relations and basic group theory) your abstract algebra course isn't a lot different from my foundations course (which had a load of logic, introduction to proof, equivalence relations, group theory, etc). We didn't do any discrete math and I managed to get a 1st in it. I don't think there's a single discrete math topic that isn't optional on the course as a whole. -
I'd also like to point out that we're not really in the habit of doing people's assignments for them Please don't just post a load of questions and expect the answers straight off; we'll hand out hints, but doing it for you is a bit cheeky and will get you in a lot of trouble if you're caught.
