  1. I wouldn't say that. Molecules move in a chaotic way (Brownian movement), and when heat is increased that means molecules move faster and faster, and since their movements is chaotic and is becoming faster, that means more chaos! I've not heard of the term "hot atoms' before, but heat is actually a result of the movements of atoms (molecules) Not entirely itself, that is under the influence of outside factors. Besides, contraction and expansion are characteristics of all objects. If you increase the temperature the pressure will increase. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay-Lussac%27s_law
  2. Ok, thanks for clarifying to all but I really wasn't trying to contradict anyone, it was just a rush post and besides, it fits with what you guys were saying.
  3. Well there are clearly a lot. The energy of sunlight is about 1 kilowatt per meter square. I'm sure I've read somewhere that kinetic energy can be converted to mass, but I'm too lazy to look it up again the for the correct way of doing that.
  4. It is a very common thing to hear people say "heat is useless energy", and it actually turns out that heat indeed represent loss of energy, unless you use than energy with heat being the purpose of achieving. Well all that talk is because this is what is happening. the CO2 in air and water is the substance that regulates the temperatures, and makes it possible not to have drastic changes in temperatures between day and night since that would be harmful to life. BTW, do take a look on links provided in this thread. You will find the reason why.
  5. The guy jumped before the car hit the stuff in which he was standing. No fancy stuff here!
  6. I express my opinion, what I think and what I believe. Take it this way, if you open a thread that has a question like "Is taking drugs harmful?". Everyone would reply yes. But if only one replied yes, and other didn't because there was just one yes on the thread you would get an impression that taking drugs isn't harmful since for 300 views you got one yes. Everyone should express their own opinions, and if you have a problem with that, then suck it up and deal with it!
  7. They might eventually children, which usually are influenced by what they see (I was), but the real problem I think is that they often cause addiction.
  8. Wow Pamy that's awesome. I speak just my native language and English:-(
  9. I don't think that the issue of life is not important. I mean, all the researches and advances done in the field of medicine has directly or indirectly to do with life. Understanding the cell, its components is actually the understanding of life itself. Now the fact that we do till a point or don't understand life is different, but life is a very important issue to us, has always been and probably will always be. In the past, when science was at a poor level there were only philosophical concepts of life. But now, that we have a good level of science, the issue is a key one. And it is better to have an incomplete definition that not have one at all. And the definition of life would actually be just kinda crowning thing for all the hard work done to understand it.
  10. In uranium gas centrifuge enrichment, the edge of the centrifuge spins 1 km/s and you don't even hear a thing, complete silence. It's brilliantly balanced.

    Logic

Well actually solving this is just a piece of cake, you just need to know what conjunction, disconjunction, equivalence and implication are. The rest is just procedure.
  12. According to relativity if you travel faster than light the order of events begins to reverse, not at c. Put roughly, c is kinda neutral.
  13. But the existence of strings is still to be proven. Relativity is goood:-)
  14. First you cannot go at the speed of light, and faster is just impossible, just like reaching c is. And there is no experiment when physicist have managed to send particles at the full speed of light.
  15. Probably winds, or altitude.
  16. Oh... that's sweet:embarass: and you just made me laugh!
  17. The effort needed to leave the black hole is infinite, that is due to high (infinite?) gravitational pull.
  18. Have you never felt irritated how people just can't see things you do? Ever felt sad why people don't understand you?

    Logic

Since when 'truth seeking' (even through tables) has not been fun? And it's fully logical, which in this case could apply to the title of the thread:-)
  20. You could say just 'metabolism' for all these.
  21. Time doesn't move, we move through it, experience it.
  22. Superposition>
  23. This is awesome and the last 10 seconds are just [math]10^{\infty}[/math] funny.
  24. Movement is a characteristic of matter, living or non-living, organic or inorganic.
