  1. OK, fair enough! Universe expansion is speeding up, the acceleration is increasing at a constant rate. And now we believe that the universe will go on forever, so that acceleration increase will go on forever, of course at a constant rate. And if it goes on forever, then at some point it will reach the speed of light (digression: I mentioned that in another thread, Martin probably remembers), and when that happens, then what about gravity?
  2. This year at school we've been studying the periodic table by groups. It's really much easier than any other way. Chemical and physical characteristics suffer gradual changes as you move down the groups and through the groups, and if you study them by groups you will feel the elegant and gentle connection that exist between elements. Ionization energy drops down the group, but increases right to periods. Electronegativity drops down the group, but increases right to period. Everything will go decreasing or increasing gradually (except radioactive elements)!
  3. If I was offered a scholarship by any of the above universities, hell I wouldn't say no! They're all top rated man:cool:!
  4. OK, but from what you're saying I get an impression that as the universe is suffering an accelerated expansion, as a result we feel the effect of gravity! Right? But the universe in accelerating (not expanding in a constant rate like you said), so the gravity value ,by this definition, should change too, since the expansion rate is changing. Now, as far as I know, the gravitational attraction rate has been [math]9.81\frac{m}{s^2}[/math] since it was first determined! Gravity is just an occurring phenomenon between particles with mass, just like the attraction or repulsion that occurs between charged spheres!
  5. Something like that! Suppose you have 100g of NaCl. First you calculate how moles of NaCl are there. [math]n=\frac{m}{M}=\frac{100g}{58.44\frac{g}{mol}}=1.71 mol[/math] so there you got the moles. Now suppose you want to dissolve them into 500ml of water, and want to now the concentration of the solution. At school we use this formula: [math]c=\frac{n}{V}[/math] put the data in the equation and you get what you need in this example. [math]c=\frac{n}{V}=\frac{1.71mol}{0.5dm^3}=3.42\frac{mol}{dm^3}[/math]
  6. Cool! The first thing I thought when I saw the thread was "can I buy the stuff, so I could increase my own memory?" Although the park and the 20-year-old thing sound like a hallucination to me, perhaps it's a bight hope to people dealing with diseases in which this process may apply! Great info Snail, Cheers!
  7. If you are thinking of memorizing them, then don't even try to. It's way too much. You got [ce]H2[/ce] almost everywhere!
  8. You can refer to gravity as a characteristic of any object that has mass! It's the classical view but meaningful enough. And gravity is supposed to bring stuff together not push them apart. By the way, there are plenty of threads on the subject so a search might have answered your question!
  9. I believe there is a difference between 5 and 0.5, or am I wrong?
  10. Sweet enough ecoli but I was referring to "why the heck isn't it on the list?"!!!
  11. Deconstruct then construct the way you need it!
  12. INTENTION: Legal hypnosis!
  13. What's your intention of inhaling hydrogen anyway? Wanna get more energy>?!
  14. Look, SFN has 9435 members. From all of them 50 have voted here. Not you do this: [math]perc=\frac{50}{9435}\times 100=0.005299 \times 100=0.5299[/math] This is how you find percentage!
  15. My my! You mean like if we found the cure for cancer, then it depends if we want to use it or not? We could leave it out and pretend that it's all fine?! NO! First you find out how something work, you master it, than you use it for your purposes. It's not a matter of desire when it comes to the betterment of humanity! It's a matter of ethics and even laws! Then why don't you give us one and tell us exactly how biodiverse is our world!
  16. Nah, me and some friends of mine have this weird habit of calling bright, smart and friendly people llegi. It's just a short way to say legend. (in my country only the coolest one are called llegi)! I'm a llegi too, although I'm a nerdish bastard! edit: 0.5299% of all members have voted. Hmmm, is that enough to get a conclusion?
  17. OUR SEX DOES NOT SET OUT INTELLIGENCE! Just fooling around! You're a llegi iNow. Cheers!
  18. Very glad to hear this:D:D! Cheers, Shade
  19. Better results? Listen, I don't know much on the subject but if there's something that can give you better result than math, then I'd honestly want to see it!
  20. Bull's eye! That's racism toward men:mad: !
  21. edit: but where's Berkly anyway?
  22. I just love Harvard. Even the name is cool! I dream one to be sitting in one of the lecturing classes!
  23. Well there has also been going on another evolution, the scientific evolution. As the decades past science became more and more sophisticated and now we have reached the peak so far. Perhaps in the near or far future we will create defensive "shields" against nuclear weapons and then freely try to blow each other up. I've been thinking that in a way we are unintentionally stopping biodiversity. Climate changes, nuclear reactor used for "other" purposes are indicators that show that the situation will no more be cool. Who gives a heck about biodiversity when dead anyway? I don't!
  24. OK Bignose, fair enough! I've heard of "consider a spherical cow"! That's just a joke to refer to oversimplification!
