  1. That's exactly where I wanted to come. WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THEM and it doesn't mater at all man, why bother loosing time with these issues. It's non-sense!
  2. I seem to have forgotten =0, but I do believe that you are smart enough to understand that by your own.
  3. I don't get yourdadonapogos, [math]9.1\times 10^{-31}kg[/math] is much smaller than [math]2.176\times 10^{-8}kg[/math] and elementary means the smallest one possible. I don't understand the reason of you post!
  4. Well, I didn't know how to help you, so I did a google search, but it came with nothing. Sorry! Don't worry, someone here will help you soon. Cheers, Shade
  5. Tachyons are thought to be moving faster than the speed of light. It's not like you can send them or they have been sent to the speed of light because you'd need infinite energy to send them to the speed of light. So they're born moving faster than the speed of light. I mean, they have to move faster than the speed of light because if they move at the speed of light, they'll have infinite energy, and so one of their weird characteristics is that the faster they go, less energy they posses, just like the equation shows: [math]E=\frac{m_0c^2}{\sqrt{\beta^2 -1}}[/math] As you see in the equation if tachyons move at the speed of light, we'll get zero under the fraction, and as anything divided by zero tends to infinity, then they'd have infinite energy. They just have to move faster than light. And according to the Special Relativity if you exceed the speed of light, the order of events will begin to reverse, so in a way they belong to the past. So why can't we detect tachyons coming from the future, since we are the past of the future? Just interested to know Cheers, Shade
  6. Nah, don't think so. At least I have not heard so!
  7. ALIEN INVASION SCENARIO An alien spacecraft land on my yard and captures me when I'm asleep. They take me somewhere completely detached from everything, but in Earth. And they say to me that I'm gonna be the one who they will show everything I ask. I think and think and think and ask them a few questions. Here I go: 1. Are you laws of physics the same as ours? 2. In your world, do you have the concept of God? 3. Is politics a main part of your lives? 4. In your world, do you have wars? 5. What is the advantage of being a human? Now I've been thinking quite enough, and getting all sorts of answers, but I thought I'd the best answers here. So what would be the best and most sincere answers?
  8. Listen, the elementary charge like you posted is: [math]q_e=1.609 \times 10^{-19}C[/math] that is the charge of an electron or a proton. The smallest charge existing. And the elementary mass is the mass of the electron which is: [math]m_e=9.1 \times 10^{-31}kg[/math]. You mention atomic unit. That equals [math]1.6605 \times 10^{-27}kg[/math] and it has been taken by convention to make the calculations easier!
  9. No, the atomic unit mas is [math]1.6605 \times 10^{-27}kg[/math] and that's just to make the calculations easier. The elementary mass is what I posted above!
  10. yes there is: [math]9.1 \times 10^{-31}kg[/math]
  11. Hey Kulmum, why don't you post the questions and we'll do our best! We won't really give any answer but hints will be sufficient. That's rude IA:doh:! Chill man!
  12. Ah I see! So from this point of view we have waves that require medium (like sound waves) and waves than do not require a medium (EM). Cool, I've never seen this in any textbook!
  13. So the equation is: [math]4cos^2\Phi + 5sin\Phi - 3 = 0[math] as [math]cos^2\Phi = 1 - sin^2\Phi[/math] (like you posted) ten the equation would look like this: [math]4sin^2\Phi - 5sin\Phi + 1[/math] and then use the quadratic formula and you get: [math]x_{1/2}=\frac{5 \pm \sqrt{25 - 16}}{8}[/math] [math]x_{1/2}=\frac{5\pm 3}{8}[/math] and the solutions of quadratic equation are [math]x_1=\frac{1}{4} ; x_2=1[/math] so you got: [math]sin\Phi=\frac{1}{4}[/math] and [math] sin\Phi=1[/math] Now let's check them into equation. Case 1 [math]sin\Phi=1/4[math] [math]4sin^2\Phi - 5sin\Phi +1 = 0[/math] [math]4\times (\frac{1}{4})^2 - 5\times \frac{1}{5} + 1 = 0[/math] [math]\frac{1}{4} - \frac{5}{4} + 1 = 0[/math] [math]0=0[/math] works out! Case 2 [math] sin\Phi=1[/math] [math]4sin^2\Phi -5sin\Phi + 1 = 0[/math] [math]4\times 1 - 5\times 1 + 1 = 0[/math] [math]0=0[/math] works out too. And please LaTeXise next math post. Cheers, Shade
  14. But they're still waves, they can't just move through nothingness!
  15. Neutrons aren't made from protons and electrons. A neutron is made of 2 down-quarks and 1 up-quark, while protons are made of 2 up-quarks and 1 down-quark. And an electron acts like a light quark itself There are more than 2 or 3. Think of quarks, gamma rays, electron-neutrinos, tau-neutrinos, muon-neutrinos, photons, gravitons, gluons etc. There was a period of time when particles where being discovered very fast, and there was a joke that any brilliant physicist who didn't discover a particle at that time, would get a Nobel! That is just an assumption!
  16. Well, the definition of what a wave is, is simple : Waves represent the spread of shaking in an elastic medium. And the spread of wave means nothing more than the transition of energy from one molecule to another. They do exist, it is not an imaginary concept. Try ringing a bell in vacuum, you won't hear a thing! That's because waves need a medium. And depending on the medium they have different speeds. I have not heard of DeBroglie equation but the classical newtonian formulas for measuring the velocity of a wave in different mediums are: [math]v=\sqrt{\frac{E}{\rho}}[/math] for solid medium where E is elasticity [math]v=\sqrt{\frac{K}{\rho}}[/math] for liquid where K is compressibility [math]v=\sqrt{\frac{p\gamma}{\rho}}[/math] for gases where [math]\gamma[/math] is Pauson's coefficient and has different values for single-atomic, double-atomic and triple-atomic molecules. Cheers, Shade
  17. That's just a physicist way of confusing you. If you have never really heard of antimatter in a more detailed way before, than the very first thing you need to know is that the contact matter-antimatter results in annihilation, the complete (100%) release of the energy stored in the forces between the atoms! Like IA said, the difference of antimatter is the opposite charge compared with normal matter (electrons + and protons -). It's just a concept to refer to opposite charged matter. Perhaps antimatter is the real matter and ours is the anti one, but you can't really exactly define! It's all relative!
  18. Could you be more specific and post one equation and equalize it in your way.. cheers
  19. what kinds of equation exactly?
  20. Don't enzymes have the role of catalyst:rolleyes:
  21. Yes. I don't know if you have seen, but sometimes when temperatures are quite low, the municipalities order their workers to throw salt in the roads. And that is because salt decreases freezing point, and that is determined by cryoscopic coefficient!
  22. Wouldn't every living physicist like to see that done:rolleyes: !
  23. 13.7 billion years is the most accurate one I've heard so far. Do some research man!
  24. I thought we were supposed to get rid of "dark" adjective with the advance of science! Interesting though... Cheers
  25. :( Didn't I write that? Ah crap... Looks like lack of sleep except puffy eyes it also produces a chaos in nervous system...
