Any research you care to share with the world?

Why inhale deeply and hold it when X-ray imaging ?
thedarkshade replied to smiles's topic in Medical Science
That's because when you breath our you do it faster than breathing in, so your movements are faster and may dissort the image. -
This kind of skepticism is really non-sense. You (as human) have the ability to understand the very complex processes in our organism (just example) How can you possibly do that without consciousness? And do chickens have anatpmical atlases of their bodies?

I don't get it. Could you explain what you mean please? -
But they are conscious of what they're doing! And please take a look at the philosophical way of what consciousness is. You'll find the complexity in there.

because the imagine will be blurry where you moved and detail will be obscured like if you take a photo of a fast moving object with a normal camera with a wide apeture, its just a blur -
Gives imaginary solutions, just like mine!

If something causes us pain in one occasion, then we learn from that and try to avoid that something. But chicken and fish can suffer pain from the same thing many times and yet they don't try to avoid it!
-
An instinctive reaction!
-
Well I am conscious that it is an electric impulse, and that is a thing that neither nor fish have. Does a fish know what electric impulse it??? Gee:cool:
-
It's not really that they know they're feeling pain. Their reaction toward pain is instinctive. After all, it's just a electric impulse!

You lack an n :D

What do you not like about SFN?

Cool! I guess this will be welcome by all! Thanks -
What's so special with using these kind of fonts. No offense, just curious!

Type I is treated by insulin injection or inhalation, so I guess type I.
-
What do you mean we can't? It's quite easily actually. Take a needle and touch a chicken with it! The chicken will run away. This is because it felt something. And that something is pain because it ran away. OK, I said "I've heard somewhere" and that's quite informal. Thnx for letting me know! Cheers, Shade

Diabetes mellitus is caused due to lack of insulin, which in this case is the transporter of glucose inside the cell. The pores of the cell membrane can let enter inside only molecules with a certain molar mass (I've heard till 100g/mol), and as glucose is 180g/mol it cannot enter. And insulin transports glucose inside the cell, so when insulin is no longer produced then glucose is "left out"! Correct?!

Gee, I've heard of that too. It's even mentioned in Quran and some other religious books. But I never really believed it (and don't want to). It's just a myth. We'll talk about it on 01.01.2013 if this forum will still remain!

None of them have consciousness! It you look up the term "consciousness" in philosophy you will see the how complicated is being conscious! It is proved that animals (chickens and fish in this case) have psychical processes, but consciousness is far more complicated than that! Have you ever been fishing? I mean, if you catch a fish and mark that fish with something so you can identify it from the others, you will still end up catching it again. I've heard somewhere that fish's memory lasts about 10 seconds. No, they have no consciousness!

OK, thanks for the info Sisyphus!

It's kidna weird what I'm about to post (or ask), but it's something that's been happening quite often for the last two months. In the days when I get a lot of sleep (10 hours or more) I usually wake up very very sleepy and for another hour I just can't identify the word around me! I mean, I don't like talking, just sitting somewhere and staring at anything. In a word, sleepy! But in the days when I get little sleep (which is happening very frequently), 5 hours or less, I wake up completely sober! It looks kinda weird to me! I there a rational explanation for this, or this is something that is happening just to me??:D

I don't know the answer but a google search got me to this!

Well I've never really been interested in medicine myself, so I don't know any site to direct you. But a lot of my friends are preparing too to get into medicine school. (I've never wanted medicine because it lasts too long, univ.. 7 years here). And lately they've been having intensive preparations. And I just asked one of them what are they learning about, and they said chemistry. So probably the main things you need to be focused at are chemistry and biology. There's no math (except in pharmacy when you'll have to deal with integrals), no physics, just chemistry and biology:)! Cheers, Shade
