  1. Hi vastor! Intuitively, we know that the variance describes the spread of the numbers. So, adding 5 to each of your numbers wouldn't affect the variance, while multiplying each of the numbers by 2 would. The rule to use in this case is: [latex]Var(ax)=a^2Var(x)[/latex]
  2. This seems like a pretty straightforward Faraday's law type of problem. emf= opposite of the time derivative of the magnetic flux times the number of coils. I believe you will need to know the speed at which you are moving the magnet as well as the resistance of the galvanometer to complete the problem.
