Nor could I. That's why I worded my post as a question rather than a statement of advice. I had a quick skim round and one of the pages I found had a sentance connecting ammonia and disolving Iron Sulphide/ates so that got me thinking that my origional thought about the base bath might be OK. I'd leave it in there for a couple of days to soak and then scrub it up to see what happens.
-
would a long soak in a base bath followed by physical scrubbing do the job?

wow - is that distortion or can you actually see the corona there in quite some detail?

A-ha, that's what I mean. If the SA is greater then more air is passing over the droplets as they fall (and faster) and, I figure at least, that there will be alot more evapouration than when the river is just flowing along normally. Hey, it may not be the case that it reduces the temperature by alot, but it must have some effect even if it is small (as CP showed). Again, I'm not sure which effect will be greater - the heating from friction or the cooling from falling. I would have thought both would be quite small?
-
Quite. You could say the same about anything really, but wiki seems to come under a lot of scrutiny as to how reliable it is. Probably because it's becoming well used by loads of people. I too voted depends.
-
Thanks. I'm still not 100% sure though swan, I reckon you'ed get more evapouration as it falls in droplets which would cause some cooling. CP's post above seems to suggest the same. (?)

I'm no expert, I've always found wiki to be fairly sound on the topics I know about - it doesn't have everything though. - But, some bloke my wife was teaching/demonstrating to at uni is a major contributor apparently - and she thinks he's an idiot. I've also heard people claim they have found mistakes. Therefore I'd say it's very useful, but don't trust it with your life - check the info you get from there if it's that important.

So Swansont, does more get lost due to surroundings on a large fall if the water droplets breack up to increase SA? Like blowing on tea?
-
So if a 200 lb person goes to have lipo suction - then can they jump over a house?
-
Cool. Yea - they may have used wires. I haven't seen the film for years but I reckon they might have reversed a film of him falling backwards onto the sand so it looks like he just takes off. LOL - funny, although there is an in film explanation for that one (and I'm a bit of a fan!)- Joe just takes off without any special powers at all.

I used to run with ankle weights on as well. When you take them off after wearing them out for runs for a few weeks it's amazing! Really suprized my dog when I went sprinting past him he used to beat me (he was getting older, but was still just faster - after the weights came off I left him behind and he genuine showed signs of great suprise). LOL! You've never seen The Fighting Fist of Shanghai Joe then iNow. It is ridiculus!!!:D As I said - he takes off from a prone position into a flying kick to get some guy on horseback. We played it in slowmo and he literally levitates off the ground without exerting any force back to the ground at all - this DOES disobey Sir Issac's rules!

I saw an old Kung Fu movie once. The guy in that trained for months (under the supervision of his Kung Fu Master - so don't try this at home) with extreamly heavy weights on his feet. When he took them off, he could jump over a house!!!! (He also shoved his hands continuousy into hot coals to make himself alot harder. ) In a film called "The fighting Fist of Shanghai Joe", Shanghai Joe takes off from a horisontal lying position on the floor into a flying kick to some guy's head who is sitting on a horse. Now I can't explain this one at all! We played it back in slow motion loads of times and we can't even see him push off of the floor with a hand even! He just seems to levitate off the ground into his flying kick. How he does it is way beyond me. Are there any Kung Fu Masters here that can explain this apparent waver of the laws of physics for Shanghai Joe?

As the water falls I reckon it would break up into droplets - thus I think that it would loose more thermal energy to the surounding air as it falls (like blowing on it to cool it - the surface area of the droplets would be alot greater than the flowing water). Also I think more would evapourate as it falls in drops (surface area and air movement again) as opposed to when it flows normally - thus more cooling. I do not know what the net change in temperature would be though. PS - did you post this question on the chemforums site as well?

I think it might be one of those toy plastic frogss - If you push down hard on its tail, does it pop up into the air? But seriously - he's quite cute.

What about Jupiter's moon Europa? It's water and covered with an ice crust. Because it's made of rock.

I also chose YT. I figured that he's quite a good egg really and he's British! He can revise the consitution so that the US becomes part of the empire again like it was before the rebellion (). He could change the 4th of July to 're-dependance' day or something like that.

Yea, but WHERE are these nutrients supposed to come from??? The tree gets its nutrients from the gound right? So where does the earth get its nutrients from then?? There is no ground, just space - which is NOT feeding matter into the earth.

Hi dude, We had a discussion about it and related programs here a while back: http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=32323&highlight=mythbusters You might find that interesting. I've only caught Mythbusters once, but quite liked 'Brainiac' and the the not so serious 'Look Around You'.

It is consumed from another dimention, obviously. It's the same way you get hairs and teeth on adult humans, but not on babies..

Yea... good luck with that jsispat!

Careful mate - don't get too close, they can have your leg off!!

After the discussion in that other thread of yours, how can you still believe this?

Hi A1 - come on mate - think about gravity and how it it works, how can they repel? It's ridiculus. -
Well it drives like a car and it does the vertical take off and landing thing(VTOL)..... They just haven't got the transition from VTOL to full aerodynamic flight yet. They are however taking deposits should you want to ensure you get one of the first ones when they do succede fullly. Genius con?! Hey - perhaps we should start a company taking deposits for faster than light drives and teleporters on the promise that when we have them, those who have paid their deposits will the first to receive their units! A bit like selling off plots on the moon, but at $100,000 a pop!. w.r.t. safety issues - I agree with you really, it would be a bit dangerous at first, but with the right regulations put in place it wouldn't be too bad. They said that a train travelling at 15mph would be dangerous 150 years ago. We used to have walkers in front of road vehicals to restrict speeds. You're right - it would be chaos if everyone had one, but I doubt they would be for the masses - just the very rich, famous, important and probably the military.
