Religion as evolutionary trait
DrP replied to Itoero's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
Moronism maybe - I don't think the world is that gullible though, lol. -
Religion as evolutionary trait
DrP replied to Itoero's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
I think it might be due to your life experiences and development. I reckon you do have the propensity as a human being to have been religious if you were subject to the right circumstances. The right respected family member believing, the right chain of coincidences happening at the right times to make you wonder... we are all human and all have the trait (I assume) to either believe or not believe depending upon our experiences and studies in life. That is what I 'think' anyway -
What other preexisting natural energy systems can we tap into?
DrP replied to John Harmonic's topic in Other Sciences
Just to add a few more:- Geothermal. Wave. Fossil fuels. Wood burning. -
What more do you want? There are paints that are on the market that dry from one colour to another to get around the exact problem you describe. For your system, you could try a finger touch where you think you might have missed the 2nd coat if it is that difficult to tell the boundary or, as I suggested, paint it with a system... i.e. start top right and work down and across to ensure you cover each part. There is no magic way of improving your eyesight.

Religion as evolutionary trait
DrP replied to Itoero's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
Not here I am afraid - I was a staunch believer for at least 40 years. I understand all to well how easy it is to fall for such nonsense and how hard it is to change your belief. -
Religion as evolutionary trait
DrP replied to Itoero's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
Good point - it seems we evolved to be this way you stated and has been discussed in the thread. You aren't denying that people are easily duped though are you? I am sorry you disapprove - I know your opinion that religion still has a place in the world - it clearly has - but why the lies? Can't we have peace, love, respect etc... without having to believe a load of made up bullshit and threats of eternal suffering that there is no evidence for? -
Religion as evolutionary trait

That would be because they have been brainwashed or taught to think in terms of their faith being reality and reality being a lie to trick you into hell. They are scared to let go of their faith for fear of being punished (hell) or of the peer pressure they will get for declaring their new found atheism. Don't live your life in fear - the truth will set you free. I guess some just believe it blindly accepting it as fact without even wanting to look at evidences against their faiths. It seems so obviously wrong once you drop it and step outside of it. It's a little embarrassing that humans can be so deluded - but when you study it it is just how we developed - we did not know any better in the past and we (people of the world) are going through an age of enlightenment... well - that happened some time ago - it is just taking many of us (like me) time to catch up. -
You mean like a fire retardant coating that needs a specific build to work as advertised?

When small input energy equals to massive output?
DrP replied to John Harmonic's topic in Classical Physics
He is ignoring/overlooking the potential energy in the system.... so to answer his question:- No. -
Some companies have paints that do change colour as they dry (from pink to white for example) to get around the problem you are describing. As for your current position though - you just have to do your best to paint the surface systematically so that you cover the whole area. I would guess that good lighting would help you see the fine line between the dry paint and the fresh coat - good luck.

I thought it might be you as Alex K. I thought you might be disgruntled because I said snakes can't talk, lol. I swear my old landlady's cat said hello to me once... and used my Christian name, lol. "Hellllo Ben' - it was very high pitched but it took me back a bit I tell you. I don't drink as much now as I did back then. -

Yea - he downvoted my last 8 posts regardless of content - I don't really care, but thanks for the +1 compensation. -
Why do you ask? Yes - we discuss science here.... and a lot of politics and religion too, but yes - it is clearly a science forum. Who were you before you were AK?
-
Neither - it didn't happen. Snakes don't talk - it is clearly a myth.

When small input energy equals to massive output?

As Studiot and others said already - the light tap provides an activation for the release of the potential energy in the system. Of course the tap doesn't have the same energy as what is released by the falling bridge. -
I think you misunderstood this: If the 'possibilities are endless' then we investigate the lines of the possible according to the evidence we have that points to things that are a reality.... if there is no evidence for something then it is a waste of time going down the avenues of investigating it as we have so much to do already and very little time. Who's treasure would it be to investigate the possibility of talking and flying slow loris shit? Personally I think it would be a waste of time - shit doesn't talk or fly - we 'know' this as far as we can know anything at all.. so what worth is there in investigating it further? Who's treasure would that be?

It would also depend on the game I would assume.

Question about memory relating to the field
DrP replied to Aspiring physicist's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
Yea, a word of warning - you have to be careful with a Ph.D..... people are constantly trying to eat your brains to make themselves more intelligent! -
Not my field - but just because it caused the massive expansion before (whatever it was that happened to cause it) it doesn't mean it will do the same again - If the universe was in a 'hot dense state' or whatever was there - it has now expanded greatly.... should we expect whatever triggered it to destroy what we have now? A spark starts a fire... a spark wont put a fire out. No one knows what happened to cause it and cannot possibly know with our current knowledge - no -one knows if it could happen again or what the consequences would be if 'it' did happen again.

Special features on most films on dvd nowadays have either a 'making of' documentary, interviews with the actors/director and other things. I sometimes re watch a film I really like and take an artistic interest in with the commentary on. I like watching a classic film with the director or the lead actor discussing the film, the script, the other actors and the filming as it is running.

Ah - you syringe it back in through it's ears I suspect - the marvels of modern science eh? lol -
Is energy input equal to energy output for a pendulum
DrP replied to John Harmonic's topic in Classical Physics
The raising of it get it to position A gives the weight a potential energy. This potential energy is converted to KE as the pendulum falls.... the KE is converted back to potential energy again as the pendulum rises back to B and so on. It never quite gets back to point A or B after that due to some energy lost as friction. I would think that that the total energy lost in friction to heat and sound energy would equal the energy required to raise the thing to a starting position though. Thus - it would be more of a gradual stopping rather than a sudden stop.
