That would come under option 3 on my list. Of course... except Dogs are real things and gods are imaginary.
-
with regard to religion - what I meant by 'logic' was that the god of the bible either exists or it does not. There is no in between there. I would have argued in the past that if he DID exist... then a lot of un explainable things become explainable. My line of argument used to be that we had one of 3 cases.... 1 - god exists (biblical here or other) 2 - it doesn't exist. 3 - some other unknown thing is real and neither 1 or 2 are. I would then defend Christianity vs other religions ASSUMING case 1. That was the leap of faith - assuming case 1 and the bible to be true.... which it clearly isn't. You should pick your shit up. ;-) But if they have no evidence of you not picking it up then it sounds like an agglomeration of morons getting angry because of the group hate flying about. Nothing wrong with owning a dog. ASIDE: When I was about 16 I walked my dog on the way to the park. He stopped and started to poo on someone's gate post. I was a little worried about this but couldn't really do anything about it as the dog had started... and er, I can't think of anyway still to this day of stopping a dog mid shit. The owner of the house came running out shouting at me to stop him and to move on to the park... I had to drag the dog away because the guy was going to thump me if I did not immediately fuck off. I dragged the dog away... and this made things MUCH worse as it dragged his business across the gateway and entrance to the guy's garden. Seeing this made the guy even more angry - which I can understand - but I did think the guy was an idiot to think I had control over the bowel movements of my dog. I laugh about it now.

... probably the frustration of dealing with people that cover their ears when you bring facts to the conversation. It is frustrating - I used to be one of those people.... although I would argue/discuss trying to be as logical as possible... and being fair - one of the logical steps required a leap of faith to just believe something based on no evidence at all. (well - evidences are presented.... but they always fall way short with the slightest bit of scrutiny). .... but I can't speak for him - I don't even know the fella.
-
I've been there - I am not sure I would call them deliberate liars - they tend to believe what they are saying... I think it is the book that lies and that the people are merely deluded. I was imo. Although - to play advocate to myself here - it has just dawned on me that a leap of faith is required to believe the book... so I guess that could be construed as a lie to one's self.... and then by extrapolation a lie to others when sharing your faith.

OK - it was what I was lead to believe I will check the population figures sometime when I get time - I might be wrong but I think the the figures went up massively not due to breading, but to due to disgruntled arabs flocking to the place to fight. Maybe I am wrong again,,, wouldn't be the first time. Regarding this 'day of rage' that Hamas called for after Trumps declaration.. well, I hate that sort thing. It isn't primarily about the land imo, there is SO much land and space out there that they do not have to flock to Israel - they flock their because of Jerusalem and Mecca and it is just religious dogma and that keeps the fighting going imo. The arabs have the whole of the middle east but want to displae the Jews because they can't stand the thought of loosing the holy of holies.. because they loose that it it proves their religion is BS. Yes - this 'day of rage' doesn't fill me with love and compassion for the Palestinian cause. EDIT - OK - I might be wrong - I can't find any serious influx of population evidence based on the yearly population growth figures... I stand corrected. Although the figure grew a lot during the 1990's I cannot draw any conclusions for it because their could be a number of influences that cause it to grow. The number of jews grew also, so what I suppose.

Although this is sort of true... before Israel was set up wasn't Palestine just a few nomadic tribes wandering in and out of the place? I thought they had a large population boost from people from religious nutters that swarmed to the place to sit on the border to protest the setting up of Israel. Thus we now have a nation of religous nuts whose sole purpose is to create problems for their neighbor. It might well upset them, of course, but pussy footing around them for the last century hasn't worked. I am not a Trump fan and I think what he has done here is very inflammatory - but in the long run maybe the whole place needs a big shake up to break the status quo of fear, ignorance and religious dogma. . Who knows - it is a complex situation.. Trump can do what he likes - I don't hate him, I just don't agree with him politically. I am a little disgusted that so many people voted for him knowing exactly what they were getting, but it is none of my business at all and neither is anything that is happening in the middle east.

Maybe a big dump of disrespect is exactly what they need. Tip toeing around on eggshells for a hundred years too afraid to upset peoples faiths and beliefs hasn't worked. I liked the idea a few posts above. Bulldoze their holy of holy site they both lay claim to and leave it at that. Both side's prophecies ground into the ground - no-one has it. We will see if god is so great to stop it. Other wise it will prove they are both wrong about their BS religions. Drag them into the new age of man and make them leave their ancient backward religions in the past with mythology where it belongs. With the holy site totally destroyed I think it would prove that god is not great.... but rather non existent. Then we can all move on in peace. Go Trump - go and shake it up. It will be hell and war for a while with mass loss of life.... but in the LONG term, it might just clear the air and save lives. Honestly, I'd rather keep the peace and take a diplomatic approach, but it isn't working all the while both sides report to have a divine claim over the land. Take the divine out of it and see who wants it then. Solution: Anyone who wants to stay in peace - stay in peace under 1 banner/country of Israel. Anyone who wants to fight - dies. Anyone who wants to leave gets re homed in the surrounding Arab nation of Iraq, Iran, Saudi, Leb, Jordan etc.. free of charge with a cash sweetener.

Origional solution to Achilies and tortoise paradox

Ha ha ha ha! Very funny! Maybe I'll race you instead then tubby! ;-) lol -
I think we did the one with black and white polystyrene cups with water in them with a thermometer back in junior school or very early secondary. Obviously, the water in the black matt cups got warmer quicker than the shiny white ones when left in the sun... hmm... have I remembered this correctly??? :-/ did we do it or did we watch a video about it? One or the other.

Saw this and had to put it here: https://www.thebeaverton.com/2017/12/palestinians-recognize-texas-part-mexico/

It isn't just electrons it is molecular vibrations. The molecules absorb the light or UV or IR at the frequencies that resonate with the vibrational frequencies of the molecular bonds then the bonds vibrate harder when the energy is absorbed. This is why I asked the OP 'Which material'? in replay to his question in the OP.

Origional solution to Achilies and tortoise paradox

lol - It would have been a close race in my prime from 370 meters... Nowadays though I wouldn't stand a chance if it goes at 5mph in a straight line. I am banking on the tortoise not knowing wtf is going on though so it won't be going at the full 5mph and maybe not in the right direction.... hopefully it will stop to eat the grass too. I will out smart the thing. -
Origional solution to Achilies and tortoise paradox

It sounds like something I saw before... Archers Paradox? or Arrow paradox? - something like like.... It is the same... The arrow can 'never' hit the target as it always HAS to travel halfway to the target before it reaches it... but of course when it has got half way it then has to go half way of the remaining distance and so on. As it has to go through infinite 'half ways' it can never reach the target. This is of course a misunderstanding and ignores the fact that time flow steadily in relation to the arrow flying and if you plot distance vs time you will see the point on the graph at the precise time the arrow impacts. The failing of the paradox can be shown by standing in front of an arrow after it has been fired and observing it actually hitting your body and passing straight through it if fired from a decent enough longbow. Also, if you want to take bets, I'd happily race a tortoise over 400 metres to prove the point. I'll give it a 370 metre head start. Normal tortoise mind you, not one of those big ones! -
Which material? Most things get warmer when left in the sun. They absorb the suns rays and warm up. I think the type of material is more important than how shiny it is, but the more reflective/shiny the surface the less energy it would absorb as some would be reflected.

I think it stems from the new age health freak types that claim that our modern diet is the cause of cancers and we wouldn't get them if we ate a hunter gather type 'natural' diet.... their proof of this is 'well sharks don't get cancer, because they eat a natural diet'... which isn't true - they can get cancer too.
-
Sharks DO get cancer - it is a common and modern myth that they don't. Type 'shark cancer' into google - the myth has debunked over and over.

I'd echo this. I am a chemist and would say that you are going the right way in treating it with respect. I use it as a last resort to unblock drains. Some people do suffer burns from the chemical when using it this way, but this can be avoided by treating it with respect - wear gloves (rubber) and eye protection. I would also advise, if it doesn't unblock the drain, NOT to go back to pressure washers and things for some time afterwards... you don't want to splash the solution back out of the pipe onto your self. Regarding the heat generated during the dissolution of the NaOH I would say that this probably actually helps clear the blockage. Last resort though... I usually get good results from Mr Muscle's drainage un-blocker products and the 2 pack gels that react and gas to build pressure in the pipes to help unblock them. NaOH has always worked as a last resort for me. I have heard it said NEVER to put it down the toilet.... I have never had the need thankfully and probably would not just in case. I read somewhere once (years back) of a guy burning his, er, self with NaOH that he'd used in the loo to clear a blockage. The toilet water was still alkali some time after and splashes caused burns on his... er, body.

Do you mean the interpretation of what they perceive based on what they have seen? I don't know why, but I don't like the idea of assigning laws to things that are subjective or not well defined. Why does perception even need laws? Law 3 seems odd... why can't it be effected by anything else... or is 'anything else' covered by 'the limits of the perceiver'. No offence - and I could be wrong as I often am - but don't see the need to assign laws to what we call perception.... the dictionary definition seems to do a fine job imo. It reminded me of this: https://imgur.com/gallery/pleGM

The other guy in the photo with Dimreepr is Arthur Dent. ;-)

I think though that they will be tricked (like hypnosis or something) into hearing it... they won't actually be receiving vibrational sound waves through the ears from the speakers of the PC.... it will be in their heads... Like those that claim to hear god.
-
OK - I think it is imagined brought on by the shacking at impact and the strong visuals. I can certainly imagine the sound... I watched the vid before reading about it and I could definitely imagine a thumping sound... as it goes on, if you (or I in this case) concentrate it starts to seem as though you (I) might be hearing it.... maybe like a kind of self hypnosis.

- sort off. You said it would be more comfortable... but not why the employers have insisted their employees use hot water. OK - reading back you DID imply that, so, sorry.
-
which is relevant why/how? it was so long ago that both political parties would have changed beyond recognition.... and rightly so - you have to change with the times as we progress. Things we decide and make policies and laws about today might be totally irrelevant in 150 years time.
-
I still don't see how it is relevant anyway. It has nothing to do with modern politics - only that we can hope we learn from the errors of the past whether they were made be republicans, democrats, independents or whoever.
-
Then maybe the demand for the use of hot water is for the employees comfort, ensuring that they spend longer scrubbing in comfort rather than hurrying the process due to the cold.
