  1. Thanks Phi - it is pretty specific to drinking Guiness and very, very rarely with red wine.... and maybe just the once with cheese.. I do get the 'cheek glow' with cheese though. I was wondering if it was a milder form of this sweating. I am wondering why my glands would go into overdrive for Guiness.... lol. It is quite irony I suppose. Phi - does it happen just with certain foods for you?
  2. If I am very hungry and have not had cheese for a while I can get a full facial tingling after eating some strong cheddar cheese, most prominent in the cheeks (no sweats though - nothing that severe). I also get a pain (not harsh... but almost a nice pain) in my jaw if I sip some wine with it. I have had this jaw pain (very occasionally) if I drink Guiness also. Qustion for trickrick: - do you also get this strange tingling pain in your jaw joints when you have a drink of Guiness or strong red wine? It only happens rarely with me, but it is a real thing. I wonder if it is connected to the cheese thing.
  3. Yes - some lack it, some have it to a high sensitivity - we pick up on all sorts of things through our ears and eyes and through smell and feeling. All complex feedbacks to the brain that processes the info and makes predictions - sometimes right and sometimes mistaken, sometimes felt strongly and sometimes ignored. It isn't telepathy though in any of these cases. Also - this pandabear88 is sounding a lot like tkadm30 with the mirror neuron obsession. Although the writing style does seem different.
  4. You learn something new everyday - I just associated the Jack in the box with toys and games and thus have thought of the jack the same way as I do with the game - pick up jacks, where you bounce a ball and pick up the jacks on the ground before catching the ball again. Jack,as in a fella, makes much more sense for a Jack in the box, lol. Pick up Jacks - the game. The Jacks here are little metal spikey things like caltrops.
  5. But these mirror neurons aren't anything supernatural are they - we all have them? - everyone has the ability to sense what others are feeling (unless the target is experienced or practiced at hiding or masking emotion)... There are no special 'empaths'. We can all feel for each other, we are human. We pick up on the body language, facial features etc and our brain process the information and we 'feel' for the target. It isn't a direct brain to brain link via some kind of telepathy. Also, some people are more sensitive to stuff than others - so what? it doesn't make them supernatural empaths.
  6. Let's hope!
  7. Yes - it means you can turn your hand to anything and be of sufficient use. I on the other hand am utterly useless at some things but amazing at few things. lol - thus my adaptation to the saying.
  8. Jack of all trades. From "Jack of all trades, master of none" I prefer it as Jack of most trades master of some.
  9. it IS empty.... until these things pop into existence and then annihilate again back to nothing... I do not know if it is fully understood. Swansant or Strange or many others can explain it better than I for sure.
  10. Yea - that shows space isn't empty - not sure it says anything about the birth of the universe though. Those quantum fluctuations were shown to be so by the expt with 2 metal plates put so close together that nothing could appear inside them... then there was a force detected from the incident particles hitting the outside of the plates iirc.
  11. Why does "humanity" in particular need a purpose? Does the rock in your garden need a purpose, or the tree in the yard, or the ant under your house? Maybe life as a whole has a purpose - probably to continue to survive. I said above what I think a human beings purpose in life should be - to better the world for humans and all good life. Although it is a choice you make.... unfortunately, some people need the threat of eternal torture or the promise of good things after life before they will even consider doing anything good for anyone else.
  12. "more or less information" - we know more now than we did 10 years ago. We knew more then than we did 10 years before that. We knew more early last century than we did the century before. Why the doom and gloom? Can't we hope that we continue to improve our understanding of the universe and spread love and peace in the world knowing we are doing the best we can? We are progressing further and further... I personally hope that we can continue as a species where others have failed and make conscious choices about our survival which leads to colonising other planets and spreading out (in case of disaster on this planet - which will come eventually in some form or another).
  13. You can give you own life purpose by trying to make the world a better place - leave it with more love in it than when you arrived.... or, being fair, you can choose whatever you want to get out of life and make that your purpose. As someone who used to be a Christian I would like to think that I will continue to spread love and goodwill - at the end of the day it is your choice whether or not you want to give your life purpose or just go out in a blazing storm of self indulgence... up to you. "Completely doomed.." Why? Are you talking billions of years in the future when all will be destroyed anyhow? Who's to say by then we won't find a way to 'move' somewhere else, some safe for a further billion years or so. Sooner or later we will have to take colonies into space... probably not in our life time though.
  14. Why should it be nothing? Because you say so? Why shouldn't it be 'something'.? If there was any chance, however small, of substance forming and matter and the universe coming into existence by whatever freak mechanism at all.... then it HAS to happen eventually given enough time. ...."Universe is self created or not"? - What do you even mean by this? How would anyone at all even know? You know what our most up to date theories are and they have been improving and will probably continue to improve with time. No-one can answer all of your questions (which proves or disproves nothing).
  15. Just because we do not understand or cannot explain something doesn't make it shocking... one day we might come up with a theory that shows how and why the universe happened. At the moment it is beyond explanation. Why do you think it shouldn't have happened? By the very fact that it DID happen I am inclined to believe that it SHOULD have happened and was just a matter of time.... oh, lets say 100,0000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 million years or so for the fabric of reality to accidently quiver at the right set of resonant frequencies to cause a ginormous rip in space and time which caused the big bang and the ,creation' of our universe as we now know it.... which was only about 14.5 MYO iirc. Of course this is pure speculation and I am not sure we will ever be able to pin point the reason behind the BB. I hope I am wrong and the cause is discovered sometime. Probably not in our lifetimes though.
  16. Love the lyrics to this - and it is a pretty good jam too... It does remind me of some of the conversations I've had on this forum from time to time too, lol.
  17. What about adrenaline? Is that is what is responsible for 'Fight Time' - that feeling of time going much slower during a fight or a car crash?
  18. What part of your solar water heater do you need this material for? Heat conductive material is best for housing the pipes - that way any heat absorbed by it from the sun can conduct through the pipes into the water easily. You can insulate the body of the the unit, but heat conductivity is what is needed between the pipes and the heat capture sheet/housing. The use of 'squashed' copper piping painted black improves the absorption too iirc. Black for obvious reasons (it absorbs the heat), squashed slightly so that a larger surface area of pipe gets incident rays and thus more absorption of energy.
  19. Try again with 2P2O5 on the right hand side. ;-)
  20. Well I thought it funny! - someone obviously doesn't share your sense of humor. I think that might be 14.5 billion years or so - 4.6 billion yeas ago was when the earth planet was formed.
  21. Ibuprofen really really works and works well against severe muscle pain for almost everyone that needs it. This isn't a placebo effect at all. QUOTE..."the energetic rejection would be overwhelming" Not if you showed with evidence that it worked. If it was baseless claims made from speculation and day dreaming that everyone else thought rubbish then yes it would be called out as BS as is right. Sorry for calling you a dick earlier in post 63 - it was rude of me.
  22. Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory. It works and works well. Structured water is ... just water. There is no evidence that the water arranged at a cell membrane wall, or however it is supposedly made, is better for your health than normal water... it is just water. So, yes, it is a marketing con to trick the gullible at first glance, like homeopathy. I would assume, like with any blank medicine such as homeopathy, there will be a placebo effect with it. ;-) To compare it with Ibuprofen is totally laughable. QUOTE "...first negative thought that come into your head?" - No - honest assessment. As for your apology, I was going to put that in the other thread, but I am work at the moment and have just been nipping on and off of here. I will do it properly in the other thread, but here is a quicky for you - I am sorry I called you a dick - it was rude of me.
  23. Thanks - I did cringe as I know it was suggested that I had got the name wrong - then the 2 of you done loads of reading and research about it - I felt quite guilty for wasting your time - so thank you again for being so mature about it. We did learn something about strombolite as you said, so hopefully it wasn't a waste of time.
  24. QUOTE STRANGE: "The placebo effect is a real thing" Of course it is, we all know that - but it works based on the belief by the person taking it that they could be getting a real drug. If you KNOW you are getting the placebo it should not work. It DOES work though, even when people know they are getting a placebo because they have been told that it might work. It is the belief that may work that gives the effect, not the sugar pill itself. I am suggesting that for people that don't fully grasp how or why the effect works will actually have a better chance of having it work for them because they have a strong belief that they are getting something that might work. Thus - the more gullible the patient, the more likely they are to respond to a placebo. This is only opinion of mine - I cannot back that up with any reading for you. What do you think?
  25. "buying placebos online".... Yea - some people are so gullible and will believe anything.. funny, that it the case of a placebo it is this blind ignorant faith that actually makes them work (or rather what makes your own mind heal your body quicker by believing it will get better). The power of positive thinking!
