Pro choice here - how anyone feels that they can demand what someone else does or doesn't do with their own body amazes me. It is typical of the religious types propensity to interfere and try to force their views on everyone else... thankfully the world is changing and this ignorance is being slowly wiped out through proper education and the application of enough ridicule so that people will hopefully see the idiocy of their backward ways. We'll get there in the end as a society. Personally I feel deeply for the plight of young mothers without much hope that have been forced into their situation or have numerous other reasons to not want to have a baby. Yes it is sad - but where do you draw the line? You can use the same argument (for not aborting in case someone good comes along) to actually FORCE people to become pregnant! "But what if your future child is the next Abe Lincon? We better make sure EVERYONE is pregnant and has a baby just in case".... it doesn't hold up.

I just looked up the Turkish translation of that paragraph above to see what was so offensive about it. Translated by google "Hey man, not to say, but we either learn English or speak their native language. Did not say anything about Mike instructions, what was part of the instructions about that?" Seriously blue, what was it that you found so offensive about this? QUOTE: "The worst expressions in Turkish" - Really? I was expecting something much juicier than some friendly advice.

"ikentina" - lol awesome. The correct term for an NCO would be just their rank or abbreviation of it. Corporal, Corp, Sargent, Sarge or Sargent Major I think... calling him Dad is so funny too.. lol. If you call them "sir" their standard reply is "Don't call me sir - I WORK for a living!"

How to avoid Surface Tension problems with woodwork finish?
DrP replied to Jmanm's topic in Applied Chemistry
PS - Regarding your humidity question - high humidity can slow the drying times of waterbased paints considerably. So does low temperature. Whether this can effect the pinholing problem or not I am not so sure I am afraid. Anything that messes with the smooth consistent drying of a coating is undesirable, but as I said, I think this will only effect your drying times and probably wont impact on the pinholing problem. -
How to avoid Surface Tension problems with woodwork finish?
DrP replied to Jmanm's topic in Applied Chemistry
There are various causes of pinholing. Is the surface clean? Sometimes impurities, a few molecules of oil or dirt, can cause pinholing. Wiping the surface with a solvent can help, but this can also cause problems if there is residual solvent molecules on the surface to be treated as they too can cause pin holes. Make sure the surface is ultra clean and give it time to dry completely if wiped with a spirit. Maybe you need a primer to aid adhesion - what is the substrate? Question: Does the 2 pk PU thicken when it has been mixed? Can you wait for the viscosity to build a bit before application. If you have a way to increase the viscosity too then that might help. Also, if it continues then try adding a bit more of whatever you are using as a surface tension reducer. So - Reduce surface tension. Let the viscosity build. Clean surfaces and ensure no residual solvent on substrate. Consider a primer if you still have problems. Further - you could contact the paint supplier and tell then about their paint - they might have suggestions or they might consider altering their product to contain more or better rheology aids and surfactants. -
Illegal or not - I think it is clutching at straws with this e-mail business... It's like saying "She/He drove over the speed limit! They broke the LAW!! so they are guilty and can't be president"... You've gotta draw the line somewhere - and if either had deleted some mails to keep stuff private... well... not sure I really blame either of them, there are worse things someone can be accused of. It's just a non problem in my book. Everyone has broken a law at some point in their life (well most). Unfortunately it seems it is all he has on her - so they just keep thrashing away at it regardless of how dumb and pointless it seems... trouble is that his supporters and some of those on the fence will believe it is all true - it is blown out of proportion as he has no actual substance to what either will do as president. It's like the Benghazi non event. "BENGHAZI!! BENGHAZI!!!" omg - the stupidity and the transparency of some people.

I would say today is the greatest generation... You have the most freedom of speech, the least wars, less racism, more money/less unemployment, cheaper health care with implementation for the poor to get cover/insurance (or whatever you guys are slowly introducing). Better rights for women and children, better help for the poor. Better entertainment and tech. The world has never been such a lovely place... even with the current wars, there are less than before. Women's rights are improving world over, rights for gays have improved and they are now seen as equals and have no issues. It's not perfect yet - we are working on it..... and could do without the kind of fearmongering that led to a UK brexit and Trump as president. I have faith that we (mankind) will sort these problems out - even if we have to retard our progress with European devolution and the building of a fdumb wall around America. So yeah - the "make America/Britain great" again rhetoric is just typical right wing propaganda, imo, to play upon your emotions and sense of nationalism.

The "MUST be guilty" statement was a quip (thus the wink) as it is just firing back at him what he has been saying about her investigations. regarding the ex post facto - I was just quoting what I read in the paper about him burning papers that a court had ordered him to submit.... and of course deleting e-mails that he had been ordered to hand over. Perhaps that isn't illegal.... but it is a bit shady and shows dishonesty and hypocrisy imo. As I said - I'll try to find more when I get the time - the newspaper article in the independent didn't give any references.
-
I thought it was "H" .... what does that H stand for?
-
"if you can point to laws broken by Trump"...... OK - I'll try to have a look and back it up with some links, but I was repeating what was in my newspaper this morning. I am at work and won't be able to for now..... but the paper said so, so he MUST be guilty or they wouldn't have written it, no? ;-) "please remember prohibitions against ex post facto laws the US". - I am afraid I don't actually know what that means.
-
It was in answer to your last reply - it got moved to here. I thought it was relevant to what you said - but supposedly not. Post#31... so my post was post #32. Anyway waitforfo, what do you think? Will "the wheels of justice turn slowly but grind exceedingly fine" for Trump too?

Ha Ha! Awesome suggestion Imat.

Hi Tegan - You'd be better off starting a new thread asking for contributors in the title. Good luck.

Differences in high school physics and chemistry
DrP replied to CuriousStudent's topic in Science Education
I regret not continuing with biology... but I needed to take maths to do chemistry and physics as well, so no room for biology on the time table. -
When they are done will they turn their attention to all of Trump's deleted e-mails and burnt paperwork from his failed business? I was reading in the paper today that he has destroyed data and communications on numerous occasions after a law suit has declared he reveal missives. How do people take this level of hypocrisy seriously? The reason I brought this up in the other thread was because the last poster seemed pretty smug that there 'might' or might not still be evidence of wrongdoing in the case of the e-mails non issue and suggested between the lines that she would get her comeuppance. All this just ignoring the already proven fraud and destroying of evidence requested by courts by the other player.... which never seems to be mentioned, even though it has been proven already. Seems like a double standard...

Well DrK - that's even more testament to the miracle is it not!?

That Taura code stuff was proven to be rubbish - you can do the same with war and peace and get anything at all that you are looking for with the right decipher.

Er - the acid - base reaction that yields a salt is usually equal molar quantities for simple reactions, eg (1)NaOH + (1)HCl = (1)NaCL + (1)H2O but that's not what you want to do with the sink - you don't want to conduct an acid base reaction between the products you put sown there as the reaction will yield a salt as a precipitate that could further add to the blocking (speculation). You want to EITHER use a strong acid or a strong base to pour in to react/dissolve the blockage away... if you put BOTH acid and base down the sink then they will react and you have essentially just put water and salt down there - which will do nothing. However! I might be wrong - Just because I have never heard of putting both in at the same doesn't mean it doesn't help - I would just assume that you would want to just stick with the acid OR the base - I wouldn't put both down there as it seems a little pointless.

It doesn't work though does it... The only one that works on paper is the 6s and 9s one.
-
Ha! Shame I can't link to stuff on here at work.... I'll link you to the maths of it when I get home. Your wheel is the same as the wheel that has all 6s and 9s around the spokes of it... the figures are 6s on one side and (this is the cleaver part) they are 9s on the other side when they have been tipped over. 9s being heavier than 6s tip the wheel in the direction of the 9s... but the 9s become 6s on the other side of the wheel and so the wheel turns continually. Your wheel is the same at that. Exactly the same. Type "Mathematical Perpetual Motion" into google - there are links to images there that depict this wheel.

How to avoid Surface Tension problems with woodwork finish?
DrP replied to Jmanm's topic in Applied Chemistry
Depends how you mix it in - if you mix it in with a drill then about 10 seconds should be ample. If you are using one of those McDonnalds coffee stirrers then it will take a lot longer. I'd say mix it in with a drill for 10 - 20 seconds or use a paddle and mix for a minute or 2. -
How to avoid Surface Tension problems with woodwork finish?
DrP replied to Jmanm's topic in Applied Chemistry
Try adding a surface tension reducing surfactant or solvent. I have found that Butyl Glycol to be one of the most effective (is harmful, but not too bad if you are using just once).. Just add somewhere between 0.2 to 1 % depending on how bad it is and it will wet out much better. I am sure there are other surface tension reducing solutions you can try depending on what is available to you. -
the soda and vinegar will give off gas - which causes pressure to push through a blockage - much like using a plunger.... the salt is not needed (Salt is the product of an acid base reaction - it is the product of your vinegar/soda reaction) You can by ;Mr Muscle Foamer' which is a 2 pack sink un-blocker which does the same thing. (Other products may be available). PS - for hair - you should try to get it out with a coat hanger or something rather than using chemicals really.

There was once a female swan that followed a pleasure boat around that had a huge swan front to it. It would never leave the boat behind - I found it very sad that the poor swan was in love with what it thought was a prime specimen swan, but really must have been a little sad at the lack of response and affection from it's partner. The article was quite short, so I do not know what happened in the end - I think it stayed with the boat when all the others flew south. Probably died of winter cold, thus removing a little bit of stupidity from the swan genepool. It certainly wouldn't have got her eggs fertilised.
