There are certainly more...

That's what you would do. What about your clone? How do you know that he wants to make your life better? Think about socialization...

However, what about any kind of progress in education? Even if Adam is a drop-out (no matter whether he did so voluntarily or not) he should also have got the right to discuss education since the reasons for his drop-out (even if he is in some way responsible) can also be found in the education system. The only way to avoid this is trying to improve the problems some people have in school etc. This cannot be discussed some of us "educated" persons. Where are we? SU? Democracy is based on discussion, discussion by everyone. No one can be excluded.
-
Yeah, sure, that's a great idea. Killing all these innocent people. Why not? It's certainly the worst idea.
-
Exactly. Discussing Education is something educated and uneducated persons should do.
-
hm, do you really think being allowed to discuss education means you must have passed some exam?
-
by the way, the original meaning of the Latin word acutus is - sharp - dangerous - ingenious

If anyone has an idea let us know about it...

One of our former emperors (some centuries ago) tried this in order to get to know "god's language" (he thought the language learned by these two children on their own would be god's language). He failed. Both children died.

I think it is not that important to know some persons involved in history (btw: do you really learn who that king was at school?) by name but to know the realtions and what effect their acting had on the course of history. These effects often can still be seen today.

Nicotine - as far as I know - blocks the acetylcholine receptors in neurons. Though I don't know whether this might lead to addiction... That's what nicotine looks like:

Isn't learning also depending on the number of synapsis? I learned something like that at school. -
My hypothesis: Ideas cannot be created or destroyed.

I don't think that TV is a good and especially not an objective reference. -
I know what you are talking about.

Hm, I still think that especially in sciences there are at some point of time facts that we discover. In a way these facts must have resulted from interpretations, there you are right. And I see the problem: When becomes an interpretation a fact? I think everyone has to see it his way... To the existence thing: Is it - philosophically - possible to prove that something is incorrect? I mean, philosophy cannot ever result in a definite and undoubtable answer (wouldn't this be a fact?), at least that's what I learned at school. So "prooving that existence is not real" or something similar to that is in a way only an idea.

I do totally agree with you (eventhough I think Nietsche's quotation might be mostly refering to philosophy). Additionally, there are certainly more arguements against Adam claim. I mean, where did "the first human" live? Can we answer this question yet (will we ever?)? Certainly not. Besides, I think it is now widely accepted than man evolved from primates. Most of thm have dark skin (now), haven't they? They have this dark skin because it's of advantage for them. So why shouldn't the first human which, since we believe it evolved from primates, must have lived in some geographical neighbourhod to these primates have also adapted this kind of protection (why should he have gotten rid of it?)? Many questions to be answered...

So let me wish you good lack. Tell me when you publish it...

I still would not exclude that. I mean why shouldn't the first man have been black?

Is altering the human genome possible?

Does anyone know wether there is a retrovirus known (now) which lacks this disadvantage of causing disease as well as integrating genes? -
You are certainly right.

I don't I just do not really like to cope with them. But if anyone likes...

A question never to be answered....we had this discussion in our philosophy class as well. My opinion: We will never be able to answer this question. Anyway, I don't whether I am really living or whether I am just imagining to be living since the impression I have is what I define as life.

We have worked on Kant and Nietsche in our philosophy class. My God, these guys had really odd ideas....I was really bored.

I think that is very unlikely, since every action in our brain is due to eletric signals in form of ions in the many cells of our brain. So, is an ion able to move fastern than light?
