  1. How is it close to scientific?
  2. The result isn't what I was going for, but it worked. http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=315527
  3. About 4000 years ago, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights and the entire Earth was flooded. The Grand Canyon was formed in a few hours.
  4. Aurora looks like it would be sweet on a multitouch tablet(like a iPhone, but bigger) instead of that big mouse thing on the desktop. Are they planning on making their own portable device, or making an application for the iPhone/iPod Touch?

    My vote

Who are you voting for? I'm voting for Paris.
  6. Even Santa?
  7. Plenty of every-day items are radioactive. For example, some smoke detectors, bananas, and you are all radioactive. Not to mention the radon in the air.

    Motivation

Somehow I didn't stumble upon this one until today.
  9. I'm such a coward. On my way home, there was a car on I-64E traveling west. I could have done the right thing. I could have, but I didn't. I could have leaned back into my seat, close my eyes, grit my teeth, and hit the gas. Instead, I was a coward and I swerved out of the way. Instead of eliminating a danger to others I decided to preserve my own well being. I got out of the way just in time and the wrong-way driver got away. What happened after that? I don't know. Did EVERYONE get out of the way? Based on my experience with VA drivers, I'd say no. Two cars at highway speed(and possibly one or both speeding) could have collided and I could have stopped it. Assume for a moment that someone else did get hit(I don't know yet). I was wearing my seatbelt. Was the victim? I have free medical. Does the victim even have health insurance? I had no reason to safe myself, but I did. When I swerved, I heard my tires squeal. Now, every time I drive home, I'll see the skidmarks and be reminded of the time when I didn't man up and put others at risk.
  10. metallic glass.........reminds me of Star Trek IV
  11. Oh gods......not ANOTHER 0.9999999=1 thread!
  12. Grandfather "paradox" isn't all that neat and it really isn't a paradox at all. It's just a common misconception due to the failure of one to follow the timeline rather than the traveller. If you follow the timeline, it's rather simple.
  13. Then make one.
  14. Do you even know what a theory is?
  15. Why DID you come here?
  16. Too bad I'm poor!
  17. Our cells discriminate against a few extra neutrons? I thought cellular activity was based on chemistry(electron arrangement changes).
  18. The continents weren't that far away then. The flood is what caused the continents to break up!
  19. Then, it's not scientific. Anecdotes, no matter how ridiculous, are not evidence.
  20. Evaporate doesn't mean disappear. The mass, charge, spin, etc should be conserved.
  21. How current is the material that uses relativistic mass?
  22. Fat can lower the glycemic index of foods. So, if you use a hormonally neutral fat, such as a monosaturated fat, fat can be good for you. Sure it is more calorically dense than protein or carbohydrates, but the hormonal effect(insulin vs glycogen) is more important than calories, because that determines if the food is stored or used.
