  1. If they are following the rules, why should they be banned? If they aren't following the rules, process them however you process anyone breaking the rules.
  2. Habitable for what?
  3. I thought it would be zero if the meter were parallel to the field, due to the occurrence of the cross product in the equation for force on a charged particle in a magnetic field(right hand rule, etc). Try perpendicular to the field, not the pole.

    Omg!

Prompt critical is extremely supercritical anyway, because there are source neutrons and delayed neutron in addition to the prompt neutrons. I guess you're right, there. It would be highly unlikely that the guy pulled out the control rod just enough to make it exactly prompt critical. It's still a great story, though.
  5. Farsight, String Theory is definitely NOT mainstream.

    Omg!

Yeah, this was the first time MARF has been critical in a while. We just came out of another extended shutdown. The links I posted above about SL-1 are just one example of what can happen in a prompt critical reactor. I don't think I know of a prompt supercritical accident.

    Omg!

It's time for the shutting up of you!

    Omg!

The US Army has a cool reactor accident story. One guy was even nailed to the ceiling by a control rod at SL-1.

    Omg!

The Modifications and Additions to Reactor Facilities plant....you know, the one I work at. Part of the purpose of the reactor is for training, but it is the real deal. I guess that means you can say both. The same way it always is. I didn't have one. I wasn't at the plant when it went critical. I guess that depends on where you are. More often than most people think. I don't know about the British Navy, but we only eat the electricians. [hide]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_reactor_physics[/hide]

    Omg!

    Today, the reactor went critical!
  11. You're probably right. I'm just a nuclear mechanic, so I know almost nothing about electricity. edit: Wikipedia defines KCL as Wouldn't the whole "charge density not changing in time" rule out AC circuits?
  12. I'm not seeing your time independent definition of change.
  13. I could have sworn that Kirchoff's current law was only valid for circuits where the current density is constant with respect to time.
  14. That appears to fly in the face of everything we know about gravity. Care to back it up?
  15. What about Kirchoff's voltage law? And you're going to mention his current law but not explain it? Kirchoff's current law basically says the sum of the currents entering a junction equals the sum of the currents leaving the junction. It's almost like a conservation law(what comes in must come out). Kirchoff's voltage law says the sum of the voltages in a closed loop equals zero. So, basically, if you add up the voltage drops across the loads, the equal the voltage of the battery or whatever voltage source you are using. It should be noted that these laws are for DC circuits. I'm not sure why Fred brought it up, though.

    Remember

Since I work 14 hour days(and live roughly 30-45 min from work), I didn't really get a chance to celebrate.....no fireworks for me But I did walk around Walmart in a Guy Fawkes mask. I currently live in New York, so it shouldn't have surprised me that everyone just looked at me like I was some sort of crazy person.
  17. The people should not be afraid of their government; the government should be afraid of it's people! ...or something like that.

    Remember

    Remember the fifth of November.
  19. Welcome. Care to tell us about yourself? What you like to do, favourite area of science, etc?
  20. Again with the invading of sovereign nations? If congress says "You can't invade sovereign nations", what's to stop the president from saying "Canada is NOT a sovereign nation!"?
  21. Then we just stop considering the nation in question as a sovereign nation.
  22. Take a screenshot. There should be a PrtSc button which will copy your screen. Just paste it into an image program(MSpaint will work) and save it. Upload it to a site like photobucket. Once it is uploaded, view it and copy the web address. On this forum, we use image tags. Photobucket will have the address already in image tags if you choose to go that way. If not, you can take the address you copied and type the tags yourself. It goes like this: The link you provided would render like this.
  23. Jackson33, you must have been home sick the day they taught the difference between fact and opinion.
  24. Some of you new guys don't know how to use some of the tags(or that some even exist), so I'll start off explaining a few. Feel free to add more if I forgot any. One of the most used tags is the quote tag. The quote tag, like all of them, have opening brackets and closing brackets. The quote tag begins with Another one of the most used is the hyperlink tag. without the space(and, no, you don't use the <> signs) then type the words you want to be the link. To close this tag, type [/url ] without the space. Example: SFN Perhaps the most obvious is the image tag. Open the tag with without the space. Example: Common in the physics and math forums is the LaTeX tag. This tag is opened with [math ] and closed with [/math], both without the spaces. There is a thread where you can learn about this tag more, as it can be more complex. Example: [math]\nabla\cdot{E}=\frac{\rho}{\epsilon_0}[/math] Many posts make use of some text formatting. To bold a word, use the [b ] [/b ] tag. To italicize, use the [i ] [/i ] tags. To underline, use the [u ] [/u ] tags. Now, for the lesser known ones. You can type a superscript using the [sup ] [/sup ] tags. Example: E=mc2 Similarly, you can type a subscript using the [sub ] [/sub ] tags. Example: A3=A1+A2 If you like the puzzles and brainteasers, you can give your answer without giving it away by using the spoiler tag. Open it with [hide ], type your answer, then close it with [/hide ]. If you see a spoiler tag, you can uncover the answer by highlighting it with your cursor. Example: [hide]Answer[/hide] If you are fond of using acronyms, it would be nice of you to let us know what they mean by using the acronym tags. Open with [acr=meaning ] then type the acronym you want to use and close with [/acr ]. To view the meaning of an acronym, just place your cursor over it. Acronym tags are visible by being underlined with dots. Example: [acr=Modifications and Additions to Reactor Facilities]MARF[/acr] And there's the one most don't know about and many forgot about. Without further ado, we have the bubble tags! There are many characters from which you can choose to make a speech bubble. You can choose from Bender, Bush, Cartman, Ermy, Gir, Hitler, Homer, Jesus, Zim, Zoidberg. Please note that this tag is to be used in General Discussion forum ONLY! All violations of that rule are punishable by something much worse than death....a night at Blike's house! Open a bubble with then type what you want it to say and close with [/bubble ]. Example: [bubble=cartman]Screw you guys, I'm going home!
  25. I suggest you read Rethinking Life and Death by Peter Singer.
