it's not impossible, but it is rather pointless. any time travel that you will do has already happened. it isn't like time travel changes anything. if you go back in time and get in a photograph, you don't magically appear in the photo years later, you were always there. any consequences of your time travel would have already happened before you left.

spikes have little harm to their owners. as for poison, the poisons that killed the poison bearer would not be passed on because such organisms that poisoned themselves would rarely live to reproduce. being eaten is an advantage for the fruit. it disperses the seed. it actually helps the plant reproduce. check out this site.
