It seems that Kurosawa Mice are not mice but some kind of technical term for a type of scientific volunteer. "We began our HIV journey with three very brave Kurosawa Mice, or human volunteers who put their lives on the line and lived to tell about it." http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:xT_90Ar27okJ:grouppekurosawa.com/blog/2004_12_23_+Kurosawa+Mice&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us

Why is president Bush disregarding the will of the american public and continuing to escalate the war in Iraq? Well, the answer is simple. President Bush is insecure about his sexuality. Years ago, when Bush was a little kid, running around his huge ass estate, his father came to take him to see something secret. It was area 51. Now, all the "old money" people of America and some from other countries know the truth about area 51 and have taken a vacation to it at sometime in their childhoods. Around their 10th b-day they are taken to see area 51 and the treasure it beholds. Inside area 51 is a spaceship, or rather a timeship. Its hard to explain, nobody to this day can explain the science behind it. Once inside the spaceship, one of the parents pushes a few buttons and instantaneously the spaceship appears on a different planet, maybe at a different time too. Well, on this planet live a species of sand squirrels, these sand squirrels are an intelligent species and their society is very similar to the american society. One day little president bush was raped by a sand squirrel (the squirrel was executed shortly after by his own kind for such disrespect). To this day President Bush carries around the baggage with him of secretly enjoying being a homosexual child rape victim. To compensate and make up for his sexual insecurities he continues to attack the land which reminds him most of the sand squirrels. This just so happens to be the middle east and Iraq.

okay, the main problem with technocracy is that it is a scientific idea. You cannot control a nation of people through technocracy. Techocracy relies on ideal communisitic principles. (everyone is equal in power) Technocracy will not work because people hunger for power. Those who have the connections in a technocratic country will slowly gain more power, find ways to acquire a surplus of goods for themselves, and it will decay into an oppressive gonverment. There are many other reasons it won't work that have been previousely mentioned , but you have to remember humans each have their own will and you can't control them with technology and also have freedom. (especially when they are not being worn out by work everday.)

I feel the same way. Most of my classes seem to teach little-more than productivity and work ethics. The classes are run out of the textbook, learning useless information rather than concepts and ideas. The teachers assign worksheets that teach absolutely nothing. Every day my english teacher just hands out grammar packets for us to do while she works on her computer. She has only "taught" our class one day this entire marking period. In a few of my classes the teachers do a good job. We will have class discussions and debates on the topics at hand. But for the majority of the school day I feel as if I'm doing work for the simple point of "doing work". If you want to learn you have to teach yourself. Sleep Is Not Restfull?
brave_new_world replied to Silencer's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
I am in no way an expert in this subject and am only repeating what I remember hearing on the subject. This is to be trusted about as much as Dr. Phil. Dreams occur in REM sleep which is the most restful mode of sleep. I heard somewhere that the only dreams that you remember are the ones which you wake up during. Since you said you have been remmbering more dreams lately you are probably not getting enough REM sleep. Something is preventing you from expierencing REM sleep for a healthy amount of time. I know this doesnt solve your problem but it might help point out where the problem is. -
It's an interesting idea but I would think the students would not be able to be exposed to many different perspectives. My opinion is: by only having one teacher for 8 years, the variety of influences on the children become very limited.

So are you saying that the orbits of the planets are slightly elliptical because the radius of the sun is not the same throughout? Also since the earth is not a perfect sphere it casues the moon to orbit slightly elliptical.
-
What is the 1/r squared force?
-
There has to be some sort of mass at the second foci in order to cause the planets to orbit in ellipses. I must be missing something, can someone please explain how there can be elliptical orbits without a second mass? Also, does the moon or in an elliptical or circular motion?
-
Kepler's 1st law of planetary motion states: Planets move in ellipses with the Sun at one focus. This question had been bugging me. There are two foci in an ellipse. If this theory is true, what would be at the other focus point? Kepler's Laws

This sounds a bit like 1984. Once we start eliminating words we lose out on ways to express ourselves. By eliminating profanity you eliminate rage. Therefore its alot easier for governments to control people if they have no way of expressing thier rage. This new law is also a bad idea because it gives the government another reason to listen to our every word.

In my perspective T.V. is just like a drug. It's ok for kids to watch it once in a while but you shoudn't let them become addicted. I am not an expert, but i'd be scared that kids who constantly watch T.V rather then playing make-believe games will lose out on developing thier imagination and creativity to their highest potential. If you were to turn this into a consiracy theory, you could say the big corporations behind the television channals are able to raise our kids to act and think like they want them to. The future children will then become perfect drones to "the system". And they will then watch the reality shows ,which are defintely worse. Is it just me or do reality shows seem like the 1st step towords the "family screens" in Farenheit 451?

This site shows the solution in steps. http://www.greylabyrinth.com/puzzles/puzzle.php?puzzle_id=puzzle084 That was a fun puzzle Leison, but the myth that only 2% of the population can solve it is dumb. As pointed out above there is no way to estimate that statistic.

more intelligible as in wiser, more understanding of your knowledge.

Sayanora: Thank you for correcting my spelling errors. I typed that in about 5 minutes. If i was writing an essay or an article I would have taken the time to maybe proofread my opinions. But in this case I was only trying to state my opinion, not impress any1 with writing skills. But while on the subject of grammar. I believe that there is too much time wasted on it in school. Spending years from kindegarten to 12th grade learning english is a waste. Language is a device in order to communicate knowledge. If any1 reads my above post and cannot understand my views beacause of the many minor grammer mistakes then I'm sorry but I would find that hard to believe. As far as that quote goes, it is very conditional. What exacatly is a "better student"? better grades? thinks more like everyone else? more disciplined? more prepared to contribute to society as a drone? or more intelligible? more able to think for oneself? more creative? more understanding of the world? Now pointed out, I have to agree with the fact that raising the salary of teachers will not solve anything. But I also do not think many people that are smart enough to land a job making $100,000 salaries will choose a teaching job for much much less instead. I think the problem may not be the salary but the people doing the hiring and the people prescribing the curriculums.

Back to the original topic I agree that the current U.S. democracy is not at all a democracy any more but a monarchy. Only the powers are the corporations that fund the presidents not the presidents. I also believe the whole republican, democrats party rivalry is a well, force-fed illusion. Take some time to really look at the issues and how much they DON'T DIFFER. They are both almost in it together. Fighting against each other but at the same time keeping out any other 3rd parties that are running. It all ties back to the big corporations which only fund and give air time to the democrats and republicans.(excluding ross perot, who had his own money) I dont know much about politics but this is my view on what is happening im open to any thoughts.

"Until all teachers are geniuses and enthusiasts, nobody will learn anything, except what they teach themselves." -Aldous Huxley,Antic Hay ^^ Since this will not happen in the near future, anyone that wants to learn has to suck it up and learn by themselves. If you're stuck in a bunch of shitty required classes,in which your expected to reiterate every chapter in the textbook right back onto a test, grab a book and teach yourself about the world during the class. There are so many things wrong with the education systems that it makes me sick to think about it. We waste hours upon hours of our lives sitting in classrooms memorizing definitions, translations, dates, and so-called facts that people have forgotten how to be creative, imaginitive, and independent. Don't get me wrong we need to memorize some basic facts so that we have a basic foundation to work with, but,for instance, memorizing the dates and importance or every battle in the civil war helps nobody. I agree that honors and even A.P. classes are jokes. Im in mostly honors classes or A.P. classes along with 3/4 of the of the other students in the school. There are more kids in honors or A.P. then in regular classes. Also the ones that do deserve to be there end up being copied off of by the ones who don't. The progression in education is an illusion! Another issue I want to recoginze is the problem of underpaid teachers. Teachers should be paid alot more, teaching should be among some of the highest paid occupations in the country. Then maybe a few more "geniuses" will choose to teach beacuse they can make a descent living off of it too. I'm open to any criticizm and other opinions on these thoughts.

Theory of the earth's inclination
brave_new_world replied to mooeypoo's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
I read somewhere that there is evidence (by examining erosion) that the sphinx was once under a body of water. Since the Sahara is about 5 million years old that would make the sphinx at least a little more then 5 million years old. Therefore there would have to have been civilization on the earth at least 5 million years ago, in times much earlier then the sumerians. since this thread as touched on the subject of ancient civilization, i'm curious to know your opinions on this hypothesis, wether its definitly a load of bullshit or if it's possible.
