  1. technology like the electric motor couldnt be created without identification and understanding of the electromagnetic force developed by physicists and mathematicians.
  2. yes, very informative. i was curious about the neurological aspects tied to dreaming. thank you for taking the time to write a response, very helpful.
  3. i wish i had lucid dreams. my normal ones are incredibly strange though. really weird locations usually devoid of people. fountains in the sky, fruit i have never seen before. weird zeppelin like things and architectural structures. i didnt know my mind could be that creative and bizarre. im not surprised theyre so strange, though. as im falling asleep my thoughts seem to spiral about and get more psychadelic, as if a chemical or something is slowly being released in my brain
  4. And that's why I think physics is more important.
  5. I can see how chemistry relies on principles of physics, but I don't see how principles of physics rely on the field of chemistry. For example, a physicist, "Moseley's discovery demonstrated that the atomic numbers of elements are not just rather arbitrary numbers based on chemistry and the intuition of chemists, but rather, they have a firm experimental basis from the physics of their X-ray spectra." Did the adjustment of atomic numbers by a method derived from physics not lend to accuracy of chemical predictions?
  6. No, Cap'n didn't give his opinion and I took it that physics is more important since chemistry is reliant on it.
  7. Good luck with non-biased answers. If a chemist thought physics was more beneficial to mankind, they probably wouldn't be a chemist. Let the fighting commence... According to me, they're both equally important. Different facets of the universal truths.
  8. Haha
  9. you admit your symptoms are nearly identical to those with schizophrenia. maybe try the treatments they use to see if it helps the negative side affects of your telepathy.
  10. I'm on that fluoride ish
  11. higha than a satellite way past the hubble bubble
  12. If superball thinks we are being poisoned through food and drink, information is being held from us, etc.... Well, he's perfectly right, IMO.
  13. Yup, exactly. Pretty sure that's why it's in this section
  14. a part of us that isn't created by environment or genes
  15. What the hell do you think the science world is doing? Twiddling their thumbs? Yeah, the LHC is just for shits and giggles.
  16. Can I be the military leader? We can try to outdo this bad-assery.
  17. This feeling of an individual uniqueness, or a soul, could be a survival mechanism. If we are to harvest the immense universe and all of the technological capabilities it contains in order to evolve, what is the driving force? Spiritual gratification? Is spirituality created to ensure we will pursue what's outside our little aquariums, in order to technologically advance and maintain our superiority?
  18. So you do not think we have a unique quality at all? Just a product of predisposition/experience?
  19. Black Friday, literally. No seeing the solar eclipse from here, though. Shucks.

One of the suggestions was that it was when small retailers went into the black from being unprofitable for the rest of the year... Seems unlikely to me.

It's in reference to the actual concept of Black Friday, which is Friday 13th or essentially any Friday 'darkened by catastrophe'. Not being a fan of large shopping crowds, I would say that the post-Thanksgiving sales pretty much fits that description.

  20. You're lucky. Sometimes I dream of a mathematical structure and it makes 100% sense in my dream, 0% sense in reality. Or I'll wake my self up by laughing hysterically and there was absolutely nothing funny about my dream. The feeling of something being valid, in a dream, seems to have nothing to do with reason, for me. Haha. I do think we review things in our dreams. I remember being very little, and my stepmom wanted me to memorize the home telephone number... it was hard for me because of my age, and I could not even get the 3 first numbers down I don't think. I took a nap, and when I woke up, I had it completely memorized... I didn't understand how. Even now, sometimes when I dream, I'm almost having a discussion about something.
  21. I agree. I can hardly describe the details of a dream, but I can describe the overall emotion I feel very easily. My emotions seem to be in a pure state in the dream world.
  22. Why did our internal GPS become vestigial. It's so much cooler.
