  1. Aw, we'll miss ya, too! You contributed a lot, and thanks for being a pal. See you soon.
  2. Oh no.... Are you planning to come back or pop in once in a while?
  3. Googling skills not ingenuity.
  4. Wow, great grandfather? That's got to be incredible.

I bet you're a well trained babysitter, too. That should go under careers! Lol

  5. The origin of these misconceptions could be as simple as observation of one's environment. You put a ball into motion, and it will come to rest. Instructors need to assume the responsibility of explaining friction, how things fit into our surroundings, painting the big picture, rationalizing what is seemingly irrational at first. The example of motion/friction is trivial; my point is that this idea should still apply to more complex concepts as much as possible. Maybe some coddling is necessary. An in depth psychological understanding of how students approach material, why they ask the questions they do, how they think, is just as necessary as extensive knowledge of physics. Understanding the audience is just as crucial as understanding the material. You must speak their language.
  6. Lol @ some of your comments.

  7. According to relativity, from the reference frame of a restaurateur, this mysterious additive is extremely beneficial. I would advise one to isolate it, purchase it, implement it, and give me 30%.
  8. to verify you're a human being. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAPTCHA
  9. Gravity, no?
  10. But randomization does make sense. How do you know chance itself is not just an effect caused by this "final theory"?
  11. Sometimes I feel like my opinion isn't relevant, because I'm not qualified... but here I'm kinda at the other end. Goodness, I remember something changed when I actually, 100% genuinely realized I could apply a method elsewhere, or even the simple fact that I could use a different method to get the same result with my own free will, and it wasn't seemingly insignificant memorization for tomorrow's test... there was actual unwavering reason behind it? I know it sounds ridiculous but I think this is how a lot of young students think. IMO, using calculators takes away from understanding math for what it is! And with that, your understanding doesn't build magnificently over time.... you just memorize chunks that don't fit together. At least that's what it felt like to me.
  12. Well doesn't our atmosphere turn those same big-ass meteors into star dust? If we had no atmosphere, I'm pretty sure we would be speckled with craters that size. Also, our planet is bubbling, oozing, replacing old crust with new crust... mending the wounds from God's galactic trebuchet. The moon seems to be pretty dead and unchanging, proudly displaying the evidence throughout time.
  13. idk, do you think maybe the calculators arent a symptom, but the cause?
  14. Eh, Clusterphobia. isnt our atmosphere pretty efficient for the vast majority of stardust crap that's flung at us?
  15. Ugh, gross.
  16. Not relevant at all. The addition of the "philosophy" section was completely random. They spun a wheel. The other options were; Culinary Arts, Claymation, L.A.R.P.-ing 101.
  17. i honestly thought cap'n was being sarcastic. sure hope so
  18. and you have helped me understand many things my friend.
  19. i would argue that assumption based on my opinion that "i do not understand" is not a question. if thats illogical, then his assertion could be deemed ridicule, but i disagree.
  20. every one of you has such a unique character thats irreplacable.. you all add an equally valid je ne sais pas.. its beautiful. the comraderie displayed brings a tear to my eye, sends the depths of my black heart aflutter.
  21. well, that is the argument. I'd say no, but some disagree.
  22. OHEHMGEE, IT'S MARK AND JEZ! <3333333 Don't forget yourself, Imatfaal. Some great, also necessary, points were made by you. Anyway, thank you Flattering, especially since I got about uno +1. This thread was almost as entertaining as the forum mods & mental health ones. Almost.
