  1. Dialysis tubing is a transparent, selectively permeable layer. It is artificial. If we pour some sucrose solution into it, the sucrose molecules cannot escape as they are too big to do so. What happens if we boil the dialysis tubing? I think sucrose cannot pass through the layer either since the layer does not consist of living tissues/cells which contains living cell membrane destroyed the heating. Am I correct?
  2. When a beam of lightning hits a tall tree, the tree catches fire and broken down because the energy gained causes the water inside becomes steam. What happens when a beam of lightning hits a black carbon solid?
  3. Don't use methyl orange as it is red in colour in acidic solution.
  4. I don't know whether this is a good idea. I don't know the answer of it. Try to investigate why xylem is put inwards while phloem is put outwards. I think this is indeed relevant to the mechanical support.
  5. have you got it now?

    Pesticide

Can plants remove the agricultural pesticide inside their bodies themselves? An advertisement on the TV said that letting the plant away from the pesticide for 30 days can ensure not too much pesticides are left inside their bodies. I don't think so, as plants excretes so little and they don't have any toxin-breaking organ, do they?
  7. Yes, YT, you were able to understand my vague question fully. You answered well , thank you
  8. Thank you.
  9. The first one: the sound wave produced and vibrate our ear dump immediately after we speak. The second one: the sound wave that passes out through our mouth into air. I cannot write it clearly as I don't know the terms fully.
  10. http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10026&highlight=chalkboard In this thread, I noticed a really tough problem. I posted it into other forum to seek for answers. I posted it in a forum which collects all the talents maths students in HK of this year. Today, I was notified of winning a prize for posting an interesting topic. As all of your writings are good, so I was praised that : "" Thanks to Collin and Jeremy for posting interestingquestions in Mathematics and Sciences.I am very impressed that the questions were written clearly and concisely. Being able to articulate your opinions is an important asset. Students interested in science and mathematics usually do not pay much attention to develop this ability. Collin and Jeremy set good examples here." Thanks to you guy as I won a book coupon, especially to the thread starter, razorfane.
  11. As temperature rises, the kinetic energy of particles increases and this increases their chance of collision to form a stable compound. If the temperature increases, will some particles combine less than past as they fail to attract the other due to their high speeds?
  12. Oh, so one kind of the reactions goes faster while the other goes slower. And the overall rate is speeded.
  13. Is frequency the sound wave produced that vibrate our ear dump through our mouth directly the same as that of the one spoken?
  14. Thank you.
  15. I pressed the wrong key and allowed a advertisement window to come out every time when I browse the web site. Now, I want to block it again as it makes me very troublesome. I can't figure out how to solve it. Can anyone tell me?
  16. But will the concentration of other soluble substance such as (NaCl) affect the rate of the ionization of hydrogensulphate ion? (HSO4-) Moreover, if the concentration of the sulphuric acid is very higher, many hydrogensulphate ions are not able to ionize. However, in a reaction, the equilibrium goes forward to the right one if the reactants are more than the product. If looking at these two factors, I guess ionization is not a kind of reaction, right? However, new substances are really formed, what's the fact?
  17. The screen may burn if it is a thin paper, lol. Energy at the region with the colour of that laser are given more energy.
  18. Is displacement reaction a kind of oxidation and reduction?
  19. In a beaker of solution, Each sulphuric acid almost completely ionizes to give two H+ ion when the solution is not at a high concentration. What I want to ask is, if the concentration of a salt in a solution is very high while the concentration of sulphuric acid is very low, what will the ionization go? Completely or just give one H+ per molecule?

    Vitamin A

We can obtain Vitamin A from many kinds of food, such as liver, green vegetables. It helps form purple visual pigment of the rod cells of our retina and prevent us from suffering from night blindness. If we lack vitamin A, does it lead to blindness?
  21. I'm lazy to read the replies. I don't know whether the problem has been solved. I tell you my solution. 1.Centre can be easily found. Join the given point to the centre. Now, we got a line passing through the given pt.. 2.Use the given point as the centre of a circle, draw its circumference. So we got two points on the line drawn. 3. Then, the problem can be easily solved as we just need to find out the perpendicular bisector of the line. And it's the tangent.
  22. Do you think the war is unavoidable?or hardly occur? I hope the other countries can carefully consider of the bish made by China or Japan rather than considering which country's win would lead to a strive in its country. In my opinion, I think Japan is on the wrong side but China used a wrong way to solve the problem.
  23. Thanks guys
  24. I know this is a very unplesant topic and I hope it won't happen, but if China fights against Japan, which country will win? Analysis with considering the aids of their allies.
  25. I got a glance on this question in other forums. In what state does wax as the fuel in a burning candle?
