  1. Hello. I am new to the forum and found it by accident. In the last two years, my husband and I both have unexplained or can't be found by doctors health issues that seemingly become instantly triggered by stress. I have Hyper-coagulation and am trying to deal with it the best way I can. I recently talked to a doctor about my husband who seemingly has overnight "growth" spurts. He had a massive stroke in January 2011. What baffled doctors then and last year around May and June and then again in September of 2010 was a sudden weight gain within a 48 hour period of 200 plus pounds and a height increase of three inches! The erratic heartbeat and blood pressure and the sudden drop within seconds is what concerned doctors and triggered the strokes. After talking with a weight loss doctor and surgeon about these incidents, he told me of a medical phenominon of a possible "morphing" gene that my husband may have inherited. After careful consideration, there were ancestors who were known "giants" of yesteryear commonly referred to as "titans" in his liniage. My husband still has mini-strokes, seizures and rock-hardening skin when this sudden weight and height gain occurrs. It renders him emobile and he has great difficulty breathing and functioning. We both have heard of people with these health issues like the Chinese man and woman in the Guisness Book and my husband knows that there are Wrestlers with the problem and one (Andre the Giant) who died with the related disease. Many Sumo wrestlers exhibit this type of health issue, but all of those had "gradule" developements in their years. My husband's is almost instant. Is there such a thing as a morphing gene of this type? The doctor said that it is scientifically possible to "shrink" the gene or to "stall and paralyze" the gene but it might be too dangerous to remove or "kill" it all together. My husband said a series of automobile accidents could have been his trigger mechanism or browm recluse spider bites that left him in a wheelchair for several months may have been. And in the last year and three-quarters, helping me overcome my stresses could have contributed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Mary Fox
