Casio CMD-40? Isn't that the one with the calculator? I myself use a beat up Timex Ironman (an old model of it). My uncle uses a pocket watch...well, he doesn't use it, he just sort of keeps it around.
-
A few days ago I was walking around and I saw a new watch store. I stared a bit through the window at some of the newer models and I got curious. What do people really prefer? Analog, or Digital, and why? Personally I prefer digital watches, mostly because they're lighter, stronger, less expensive, and while I can read analog fairly quickly, digital is just much faster to read. I do have some friends though who prefer analog, and I'd like to know why people choose one, or the other. So if you care to voice your opinion on the matter go ahead, I'm very curious.

Schizophrenia/Science fair help
antimatter replied to brainstem's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
I don't quite understand what you are asking. Are you wondering whether or not you should change the topic? Personally I think it's a fine topic, though you should have prepared better. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dopamine_hypothesis_of_psychosis Hopefully that will help, Best of luck. -
"A laughable clame, graviphoton, perpetuated by overzealous teachers of science" no?

"flood goop would seem pretty realistic" That is an oxi-moron, 'flood goop' isn't real, it doesn't even look remotely like anything you'd find in the real world. Not to mention the worst thing I've heard a marine say was "He's totally loco, man" The AI in Bioshock and F.E.A.R. are much more explicit.
-
Wouldn't that also apply to centripetal force then too?
-
It's not a real force, it's just inertia...so it is a force, but it's just inertia... now I'm just confusing myself...

Cheerios supposedly lower cholesterol. The oats essentially 'soak up' cholesterol. I'm reading teh box as I'm typing (don't ask) But I've learned not to trust General Mills after several cereal related...incidents... I'm actually not entirely sure that works all too well. I don't mean to say that it has adverse effects, but see, last year I had bronchitis and I went to the doctor. He gave me a prescription, and recommended some vitamins. While I was there I decided to ask him if Vitamin C (he did not recommend that one) had any proved effects, to which he replied No, it hasn't really been proved to do anything. He might be wrong, but I'm just putting it out there.

The fact that my favorite game logo occupies your desktop more than makes up for the painful un-organization of it [desktop].

I'm not disagreeing with you, in fact, I'm pretty sure I've already said that, and that we've discussed this before outside of SFN. Half-Life 2 and the original are both very, very bloody and violent games, not to mention the horror factor in HL 2. I've never played CS, but I did watch teh episode of Pure Pwnage where fps_doug is playing CS:Source...you know the one I'm talking about... Right, good idea, a more efficient and logical approach, more rational, rather than opinion, that's much better.

Yes, but see, that's not actually blood...that's flood-blood... you know, it's not realistic blood, which is what gives the ratings most of teh time. If that makes any sense... Apologies for lack of sense, my brain is a bit...not well today (science exams...)
-
Yes, that's teh point their blood would be frozen... No, no you're missing teh point. I meant like they could moniter the O2 supply in the body and whenever it's dwindling they could pump in some more, I didn't mean constant pumping...that's just...

So...anyone else read it?

what would you call this type of thinking?
antimatter replied to Mag's topic in Psychiatry and Psychology
Unfortunately I find myself using this reasoning whenever thinking 'longterm'. I mean, I usually do whatever is 'right', but I have to stop myself from thinking "Why does it matter, I'm going to die anyway..." "I don't want to achieve immortality through my films, I want to achieve it by not dying" -Woody Allen What you have is a classic case of nihilism. -
So I suppose that's yet another problem. What would be teh problem with pumping O2 into the cryo-tanks?

Any way to induce hallucination without drugs?
antimatter replied to hw help's topic in Psychiatry and Psychology
The point of ingesting drugs is not to induce irrationality, but rather to escape, or to feel/experience things you wouldn't normally. Irrationality isn't something you should strive for... -
Now what do you mean by that? I wasn't exaggerating, it was a very good book... As I'm learning now, though, Fabric of the Cosmos is slightly better, mostly because Mr. Greene goes more in-depth on the ideas and discoveries mentioned in The Elegant Universe.
-
Not only that, but it would be like being in a coma, right? You'd have to re-learn how to do everything, and you'd have lost a lot of your muscle-mass.
-
Eh, not necessarily. Can't you just pump water into them in the thawing process?

You forgot the first quote box... There is only blood in Halo 1 Multiplayer, there's only alien blood in Halo 1, and the occasional small puddle of yours. Compared to F.E.A.R. in which I scissor-kicked some robot in the face in slow-motion and blood spurted out of his neck in giant clouds....I think it's obvious who deserves the M rating.
-
I was just thinking about that Donut, F.E.A.R. and Half-Life 2 both got M ratings, but it's obvious to see which one really deserves it (F.e.a.r.) Half-Life has very mild blood, and a few scary things (poison headcrabs! aaaa!) Halo 1 got M, which I find outrageous. There's no blood, except in multiplayer, there's some violence, but it's not really realistic, and it's an overall not M-deserving game.

Odd...
