It's driver, that's what insane_alien just said, it's not a hardware malfunction if it worked with a different OS.
Which is very unfortunate, because I can't figure out what drivers to use...
I can't stand Vista, it's like the new Mac OS X, just meant to look good, and be 'easy' to use, and unfortunately for MS, it's neither.
I really think that Vista is only good for very good computers, otherwise it just sucks.
It's all speculation, and most importantly; opinion. You can be skeptical and pessimistic, and think that we're going to make a horrible mistake, or you can be more optimistic in human nature. I think we have learned from our large quantity of mistakes, and really there's not all that much room for error if we do our 'homework'.
There's a Stephen King story sort of like this called The Jaunt. If we really put in effort into figuring out what we can do right, and wrong, there shouldn't be all that many (if any) mistakes.
I personally prefer PC, but that's just because I harbor an intense hatred for Macs, because the one's I've been using for the last 3 years at my school, all suck.
PC's, in my opinion are much more reliable and efficient.
Macs are just meant to look good, and be easy to use, like Vista. I haven't yet used Leopard, but I assume it's not better than the one at my school. Did I mention it sucks a lot?
I don't know, I'm still a little unsure.
Somehow I knew this was going to happen, it just seemed a little too easy.
I really think it's the network card that is broken, which is rather unfortunate.
Er...that's awfully blunt, and not a very 'smart' thing to say on a science forums...which leads me to wonder, why are you here if you think people are stupid?
Yeah, you're probably right.
Though the thing is, I was looking at some stuff yesterday, and I saw it was running all generic drivers that come with Ubuntu, so perhaps my computer doesn't really work with these drivers, in which case I am...screwed (for lack of better words)
It did work with XP, and that's the weirdest part.
Other than the Internet problem, the computer seems to be running smoother than ever with Ubuntu, I don't think I'll have to switch to Xubuntu after all...
I just hope I get teh internet working...
