  1. http://www.iht.com/articles/2009/02/12/business/yen.php And Japan's export and consumer savings rate was much better than ours.
  2. Whatever, so there is not past, present or future to worry about. The space twin returns to earth and both twins are on the earth "now". But the space twin is younger than the earth twin. In fact, the earth twin might be long dead, but they are both on earth "now".
  3. It seems like this is even more straightforward than Schiavo, because I don't see a clear family split. It looks more like the father against part of the state or the church.
  4. And all gods are mythical, with some having more followers than others.
  5. And if you don't want to discuss a definition, you may not even know what it is you believe and what others do not believe. I think this is the case for many, many people. Not on this forum though.
  6. Yeah, it would be fun watching girls fart.
  7. http://www.cab.latech.edu/~mkroll/510_papers/fall_05/Group6.pdf Yes, I have always thought top management, especially CEO's were over valued. CEOchart.doc
  8. I agree and I would think that Obama knew that the bill would not make it thru unscathed the first time - that some compromise would need to be reached. So allowing some nice pork that makes the left happy, then allowing a compromise to get rid of some of it would make the public happier than trying to wrestle the exact same bill in one move.
  9. So they can guarantee pay to top prospects regardless of the financial situation would be one reason. It gives the CEO more incentive to have a nice parachute clause so he can jump ship before the bailout. I think something like this needs to be done, but it seems too drastic to me.
  10. Musharaff is no longer in power. Asif Ali Zardari is the elected President. But, your main point remains.
  11. LOL, I bet Obama wants those headlines! I know its hyperbole, its just frustrating to see this kind of incompetence or dishonesty. At the very least, it shows the difficulty in the tax code or how easy it is for the wealthy(or anybody?) to avoid paying taxes. Looks like two of the three have withdrawn, so I guess its a dead issue for the Obama administration now.
  12. It makes sense in this context. The question is related to the definition of the being that one calls God. Is it a being like the Abrahamic god that is with limitless power and authority or ones that are limited in scope or nature itself. I guess if one thinks only the attributes of Allah can be considered a god, then they could list the attribute(s) that make it stand out from the rest.
  13. No, Hamas deserves the worst, but not all Palestinians. If mistakes or war crimes are done, then they should be exposed. However, more action should be taken against Hamas. As long as they are killing Israeli citizens, no peaceful solution can take place. Nope.
  14. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123367405418643627.html?mod=googlenews_wsj Is it possible to find qualified people without tax issues or illegal houseworker issues?
  15. I was a Dallas fan as a kid, so I wouldn't mind seeing the Cardinals win. But, reason tells me: Take defense over offense in general. Pittsburgh's weakness(offense) is better than the Card's(defense) Pittsburgh has been more consistent I would predict a blowout, but Pitt isn't that kind of team. Pitt 31 Cards 17
  16. That would be Ignosticism
  17. ssshhh! The world ending is not a bad thing. It's part of the plan.
  18. Because we want people to buy more stuff, not pay debts. Paying debts is boring and doesn't grow the economy. Borrow, spend and things will be merry.
  19. I like the idea of capital gains cuts, although maybe not as drastic. It seems to me that trying to get consumers to spend, spend and spend to get things rolling in the short term is only going to work short term. They need to spend some and save some, possibly invest some. If people save more, they will feel less threatened during downturns and the spending won't dry up quite as dramatically. So removing taxes from savings, especially for middle class and below would be nice, IMO. Trying to move manufacturing into new sectors is a good idea. We cannot continue to bleed manufacturing and think that a middle class will be retained.
  20. I disagree. You should not point a gun at anything that you are not intending to shoot, but pulling it out is not the same as pulling the trigger. If you point a gun at someone and they pull back or start to leave, I don't think you should shoot. Your talking about a duel. Having guns loaded and sitting out ready to be fired is probably a much larger threat than criminals - unless you live in a crack ridden neighborhood.
  21. or maybe Apatheism, which is where I have been floating towards. I like ignostic better, because it expresses the frustration at the infinite concepts of God that everyone seems to think we all share. As if a deist god that started the big bang is the same concept as one that helps Pittsburgh win the Superbowl. It's hard to have one stance on all these prospects. I may not believe in any of them, but not with the same conviction.
  22. The name of the machine will be Gold Member
  23. http://www.geotimes.org/dec07/article.html?id=feature_ancientlife.html Fossils are snapshots, so you are never going to get the "oldest" one. Also, on the molecular side, it is based on estimation of mutation change, so the farther you go back, the wider the date range.
  24. My concern that all countries should either grow some balls and demand that Hamas stand down and quit the violence or let Israel handle it remains.
  25. Just throwing the link below in regards to quantum computing with Analog logic. Analogue Logic Quantum Computing There is of course fuzzy logic and analog logic I think in relation to RF, but not sure if that is at the transistor level. I don't think this would be a replacement for binary logic, but for certain applications.
