  1. They have godless people at SFN! YT has taken godless money and he's from Britain, where they are thinking of having sharia law! We can't trust YT.
  2. In terms of life an liberty, I think so. Even in terms of pursuit of happiness, maybe. Don't we really just have a giant game of Monopoly, where we want people to have an incentive to pass Go and grow the wealth in the game, but we don't want a few to actually win and everyone else quit playing?
  3. Probably get the best boob jobs and latest viagra pill in the world. Preventative care? nah.
  4. Linking a politician to atheists is a winning strategy in the US. http://www.wspa.com/spa/news/local/article/kay_hagen_sues_elizabeth_dole_over_campaign_ad/10464/ Not sure I agree with the lawsuit, but I do agree with the sentiment

    Poor Joe

This guy is becoming a celebrity - wouldn't be surprised if he gets a show on Fox and runs as Sarah's VP next time. "I'm the real Joe sixpack <wink>"
  6. I'd go with antibiotics.
  7. I know, I mean hell he's black, what more do they need?

    Poor Joe

Pretty good article for the pro-McCain camp. http://money.cnn.com/2008/03/10/news/economy/tully_healthcare.fortune/
  9. While Agri-business and some large scale farmers today may be considered wealthy, I don't think this has been so historically, especially in the 30's? Government is in the business of promoting general welfare, which includes insuring fair trade(subsidy, tariffs) access to resources(foreign policy, treaty, war). We all benefit from strong business, of course the wealthy benefit more. This is why a progressive tax is reasonable. We currently have one and still the rich are garnering a larger and larger share of the pie.
  10. Yeah, I chose option 1 because Obama is from Krypton and will save the world. We just need to make sure Cheney has no kryptonite.
  11. Its not about his wife's looks. Its about his ego.

    Party pooper.
  13. Really? All this time, I thought it meant Overbearing Prick. Suddenly, starting a new thread has become much less stressful! Cool!
  14. To me, dumbness is a measure of how much one misunderestimates their own ignorance. Yes, I included the Bush-ism for emphasis.
  15. Yeah, this one amazes me. I see it online mostly, usually from the same people that will argue against observed facts till the cows come home. They whip up a huge conspiracy theory about Obama as a muslim being able to lie to non-muslims, etc. Delusion. I really think it is all a reflection of the deep cultural divide in the country. Regardless of who is running, the other side must be reduced to evil. The left are godless or the "wrong god" communists who are against the country, while the right are racist, homophobic jesusfreaks set out to destroy the world. Hard to discuss policy with those two options.
  16. couldn't agree more. To live and work for a living.... Britain or Australia If I could speak any language with ease.... Sweden or Italy If I have money.... Brazil
  17. a distraction really. When you consider she is a woman who is not a millionaire and was not a national figure, well I can see the need for clothes, etc. Expensive clothes though. Makes me wonder what other goodies all the candidates enjoy from campaign money.
  18. Obama will save us, he's from Krypton. Seriously, is nuclear the way to go? I was thinking a gentle push with a rocket or solar action might be safer.
  19. Yes, I would appreciate that. Not sure if my pea brain will comprehend, but would like to try. I found the loop quantum gravity theory in Einstein Online appealing. It makes more sense than just a singularity. Doesn't make it right, just more interesting.
  20. thanks for the reference! Awesome site. I read the following: Avoiding the big bang Taming infinities with loops Searching for the quantum beginning of the universe A tale of two big bangs Have a question regarding loop quantum gravity. Does it predict or have an explanation for the contraction of the universe?
  21. To me, time as we know it must have a certain direction, a forward arrow. If it is curled up with no direction, it can be ignored as non-existent. I am under the impression that time doesn't exist at the quantum level, doesn't exist at c and doesn't exist with extreme gravity(i.e blackhole). So if the universe was compacted to the quantum level at some point, tough for me to imagine anything like time at that point.
  22. speaking of simulation models, here's one that you can bet on. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2008/news/story?id=3656676
  23. Rules are slightly different by state, but I'm pretty sure you can leave anything blank and not invalidate the whole ballot. You could leave the President blank and vote for judges, for example.

    Acorn

To vote early, all I had to do was give my name, date of birth and address. I provided no ID or even a registration card. If you register a dead person with address and date of birth, it is very easy for anyone with that info to vote under that name.
  25. I think religion may have more in common with the marines than science. Most scientists yes, but most people? not so sure about that one. Understated the issue in a big way. We are not talking just about the "God hates fags" crowd or the suicide bombers, but the people who stake their personal relationship with a deity in direct conflict with any scientific knowledge. This would be at least half or even the majority.
