Also, second-hand smoke lawsuits might be a concern as well. Rights to clean air trump rights to get a fix.

I thought McCain was very weak at the beginning and didn't really pick it up on the economy until he started talking about earmarks. I like Obama's style, so I am generally going to be biased in that regard. I thought McCain did better through the foreign section and much better in closing - he left with us with the idea that he is experienced and confident - ready to go from day one. The implication that Obama is not ready was not addressed. Regarding the budget, Obama almost got to this by saying he would cut parts of his energy plan. That's the smart way to answer. You can't cut any one thing in totality, just parts of all the programs. Basically a draw, IMO. Obama should do better in the rest of the debates. I think Biden has a tough debate ahead. Palin is expected to be terrible and Biden has to be careful about attacking her lack of experience, because she will turn it around on Obama. Biden's main job is to defend Obama, not himself.

I was thinking it was a bad move by Obama at first, but now it looks like it might be a good thing for him to have shown some backbone.

That is a great idea - it should go to pay off something, not to be used as a stimulus check.

Hyperinflation imminent? Time to get out of the dollar

Stay in the market, please stay in the market. I'm begging you, please. -
Well, whenever I have been asked to work or advise on budgets, I always inflated my numbers, provided fudgey details to back them up and hoped prying eyes weren't too informed to know a difference. They always want to give you less anyway, so might as well hit them with more up front.

Well, I guess I have faith in Bernanke, who has a PHD in economics and did his dissertation on... The Great Depression. Of course, he is concerned on the aggregate level, not about who wins and loses as individuals. He is concerned that EVERYONE is going to lose. If the main problem has been these frivolous loans for the last 5 years, then how much equity are these people really losing? They basically rented the house if they put little money down and have a 30 or even 40 year adjusted loan.

I was referring to procrastination. If you procrastinate suicide, that might be considered a good thing.

Yeah, but.... http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/23/fifth-grader-suspended-for-wearing-anti-obama-shirt/

If you kill off all the predators, then the prey needs to be controlled, or they will just multiply until starvation. As for safety-for-humans, well if they continue to eat meat, I think the higher the animal goes up in the food chain, the more likely poisons, etc can enter the animal, since it is eating the animals below it. But, I assume you would not want humans to be predators, so I see only more trouble for us.

suicide or starting heroin use.....

That's Bush in his element: No thinking, just doing. Wait until there is a crisis and then say we must follow him or else.

One is being built in Dubai and another is planned for Moscow. More interesting is the building will actually create power. I am skeptical of that claim, but at least there is the attempt to go green. http://www.inhabitat.com/2008/06/09/rotating-wind-powered-tower-to-begin-construction-in-dubai/

Well, that should prove anything Darwin ever said and anything "good" from anybody who supports evolutionary theory. yep.

I had a friend that worked for a county govt. they had a 10mb email restriction, so he used his personal account to send some pictures to a public person who had requested them! I doubt they had this problem in Alaska. I could see gossipy type email that you wouldn't want others to ever see being sent with a different system. Of course, that type of email can provide evidence for wrongdoing as well - especially motive. Until someone says they have actually seen email or someone from her group admit it, I don't regard this as an issue. I bet there are people all over the US deleting email and accounts from Yahoo. Of course, Gmail is safe.

There is no evidence she used personal email accounts for government business, even from this hacked stuff.

I'll give the idea a chakra level 1.

I think it is another step - a big step in the devaluation of America in relation to the globe. It's as if a chinese investor just found out the beach front property he invested in is actually in the middle of Kansas. Hopefully, this process will be slow and not a big shock. And hopefully, we will get a President that will stop spending so much money trying to rebuild the freaking world.

That's funny.

Well, the real advisor is Phil Gramm, but he's in the shadows.

Well, there are many on both sides that have made up their minds - maybe 40%? So, the remaining 20% swing voters are the key. I am one of those who will vote Obama, but one main thing bothers me: Obama's message comes across as "I am going to fix government, so it can help you more" I think this is a valid message, but what sells better is Reagan's and JFK's message: "I am going to fix government, so it will allow you to be your best." When the economy starts having problems, people don't want to hear about what new government programs are needed. It's like telling your kids you just lost your job, now let's build an extension to the house.

Wrong. http://www.military.com/news/article/obama--says-iraq-surge-successful.html Appears everyone agrees.

Things seem to be going well, as in I don't hear much about Iraq and troop deaths. I really don't know if things are better and what better means though. The invasion went well also, we rolled in there pretty quick like a knife through butter.

Where did Darwin get his ideas?

You would make a great Vice President.
