I don't think there needs to be any more comments. This comment, his history of intolerance and acceptance of his bigot father are what makes him suspect. I have had a blood alcohol level higher than .12 and I do understand that people say and do stupid things while under the influence. If a group of Jewish people had just harrassed him, I could see why he would say something while drunk, but just pulling it out of nowhere suggests he has suppressed hatred, IMO. I will probably watch his movies, although they tend to be the same, simple good guy, bad guy dribble.

Mel Gibson Tirade I gave the benefit of the doubt to Gibson for the Passion of the Christ, but I think the latest tirade puts in serious doubt his purpose for showing the Jews in such a bad light in the film.

I agree with the point in Post #10 as well. In fact, it is demeaning to the subject, in this case Islam, to use it as a means to spread your opinions. It would be like going to a course on Christianity and the prof keeps praising Bush and the war on terror. A political science course, that might make more sense, but a Professor is supposed to be open minded, maybe have debates, not shove ideology down throats.

I disagree. I think there are people that think it just isn't worth American lives, money and political clout to stay there hoping things will change. Like any investment, you have risks and rewards. People see them differently. Iraq may be heading in the "right direction" and may be a success. That doesn't mean it will be a success that we necessarily agree with. I can't see Iraq being completely against Iran and Syria and pro-America/Israel. They will have to find a comfort zone.

Education Deficit The sad truth. We can't all provide services to one another. I think one thing that is obviously true is that people need more and more education/training to earn a decent salary.

And the Native Indians and African Americans might hate whites, everybody hate the Brits, etc. So, they can either go around blowing themselves up, or try to use what they have.

I think spending does help the economy in the short term. That is what we did. Bush cut taxes, but increased spending, so you have infusion from government and the consumer. If I max out my credit cards, things will look and feel good for awhile, but eventually the time to pay will come. I think it is more important than the war in Iraq. Without our economic might, we can't afford to fight.

It's time to stop killing meat and start growing it

We are fortunate to be able to worry about this. I think we should concentrate on the most economical way to produce healthy protein and teach the third world countries to do that. -
Linked tables might be the way to go - simple and quick. You will need to setup an ODBC connection then link the tables you need. Be aware that ODBC is quick and dirty, but will can tie up bandwidth and be slow for excessive data. If you link the tables and query them on the client side, you will be bringing the whole table of data to the client and then sorting through it. It is easy enough to do it and see what the performance is like, but if you are going to have more than 5 users, performance will degrade quickly. So, you can steam ahead, but you may eventually need to either make procs in SQL server or pass-thru queries in Access. It is amazing how much stuff like this is written in Access DB's and spreadsheets throughout corporate America.

I would think it is less and less sound, given more and more of our spending is going overseas. Tax breaks help build China, which gives aid to North Korea, who in turn gives an A-bomb to the terrorists

I don't think ITALY made the comment, and FRANCE didn't give the headbutt. Two stupid athletes, that's all.

Actually, I was implying that it is common sense that unfiltered smoke would be dangerous, not just annoying. I was raised with two smoking parents and it was obvious to me that it damaged my health. Pollution kills. The question is how far to go. I quite agree with you that removing it from everywhere seems a bit excessive(if it is still lawful). It is better to go ahead and outlaw it for anyone below 18 and phase it out as that group gets older. If you think about it, kids of smoking parents are probably endangered more than any other group and don't have much control over the air they breath in the house.

I think you are confusing this with the flag burning issue. While it may not be science, it would seem to be common sense that unfiltered smoke would be harmful to people. The question would be what concentrations, etc. If that could be determined, the next issue would be how to control the concentration levels, etc. The obvious answer is to ban it as much as possible, since smoking serves no useful benefit to anyone. So while people may have jumped to conclusions, it was with more than "ew gross"

Not saying it was OK to throw around the bigot label, but I consider two senators more on equal footing than a TV/Author figurehead vs a widow. This Ann B**** shows that people who demagogue others will do it to ANYONE who disagrees with them. She can criticize them without using low blows, just as the military can be criticized without calling them names.

This Zarqawi doesn't have near the support that Hitler once had. Why is it so bad to kill him? Long term, this guy will be a bad memory, nothing more.

I took it to mean domestic attack by foreign forces, which I think the WTC bombings could have been considered influenced by foreigners.

Then don't have children.

I think marriage is very important to society(surprise, I am happily married). The most important thing to survival is breeding and the care of offspring. If you want to see what eliminating marriage would do, look at the poor black community in America. Single parents have a much harder time supporting their children. Homosexual and interracial marriage are two different issues, as marrying an animal would be a different issue. I don't feel threatened in any way for gays to be married and think it would provide the same benefits to them as it does for heteros. The fact that Bush doesn't propose a compromise with a civil union for gays makes me read BIGOT between the lines. He believes homosexuality is a sin, so of course he doesn't want to ascribe any support to it. He supports illegal immigrants more than homosexual citizens. If he did try to compromise, he would get hanged anyway. He is just drumming up support from his base, he knew it had no chance.

I agree with his main point that Bush is using the marriage issue to drum up his base, so they will forget about other issues. Of course, many politicians are doing this during the election year cycle. I don't take that much offense from his statement. I don't see why politicians can't complain about military mistakes. It may be a little early to throw Haditha around, but mistakes do happen and will continue to happen. The point is do we stay the course or change it.
