  1. I voted extreme. I would hope I would use whatever force necessary to handle the threat.
  2. Yes, I realize that and stated that earlier - that is why I am opposed to the death penalty. Not because of religion or morals, just plain economics.
  3. I find myself in the middle on this thing - if that is possible. To me, the main justification for capital punishment is economic. Sure, it makes the surviving victims feel better when a criminal is killed (in some cases), but that doesn't help society IMO. It is just plain irritating to have to pay to keep these people alive, not because we can't afford it, but because they don't deserve it. Do they deserve medical care? How much? On the other hand, I find it strange that people don't want government messing with business, healthcare, education, etc. Government can't seem to do anything right, in fact, we need guns to protect ourselves from it. But, boy they can kill citizens all day long! You would think the argument would be to privatize this death penalty. Or even outsource it to China. I bet they kill people very cheap. Seriously, to even consider the death penalty - I don't think EVERY first degree murderer should be killed. Scott Peterson would be a good case in point. He murdered his wife and child and is convicted. But, all evidence is circumstantial - I don't think you kill someone on this kind of evidence. No, this penalty should be used very rarely if at all.
  4. Take the case of a psychopath who has killed many people. Admits it - tells you where the bodies are and is proud of it. Why keep someone like this alive? Surely they deserve to die more than a lab rat. With the death penalty, you will eventually kill an innocent person. With life in prison, you will eventually have a murderer escape or be released. I don't think the death penalty is a deterrent - especially for the worst cases as mentioned above. To me it is economics - why feed and cloth people like this? But, the death penalty cost as much or more than keeping someone in prision, so no need to have it.
  5. It would be nice to be able to just take certain people and put a bullet in their head. But, I have to stand against the death penalty, mostly due to costs, etc. I would like to see criminals do something to help defer the costs of keeping them behind bars. No need to make the labor terrible, just make them do some work.

    Men Not Included!

The only problem I see is the ability of the women to care for the child. They should have the same requirements as adoption - whatever they are. It would be nice if people would adopt instead of doing this, but that is not for me to decide.
  7. Well, it would be nice if most men were as thoughtful. If so, then we must be serious about sexual relations and the impact from them. Women get a raw deal from sexual relations - more exposure to disease, social stigmatism, pregnancy. I think in most cases, a woman having an abortion would have more psychological wounds than the man. The man should shoulder some of the financial support, even if he wanted an abortion, because you cannot force a woman to have an abortion for economic reasons.
  8. Good Point! I guess cats would have been a better candidate!
  9. Gas is too cheap in the US, although it has risen recently. This makes it more affordable to buy gas guzzling SUV's, etc. Germany and Japan will lead the US towards fuel efficient cars.
  10. And which species destroys their ecosystem with their waste?
  11. http://homeworktips.about.com/library/weekly/aa011801a.htm This is a link with some simple information. Even exercise has an affect on the brain. Sitting in front of video games/TV all day also will have an affect.
  12. Good point. I don't consider myself morally superior to those farther on the right or left. I am pro-choice for example. I understand why many are against it. Simply my opinions, that is all.
  13. Sorry about that! I try not to quote a complete post, but I see where in this case it was confusing! I WAS WRONG!! I still maintain my opinion that this issue is a majority rules situation. I don't quite equate fox hunting to Bull Fighting.
  14. That's a good one! Well, if he exists and comes back, I'm sure he won't be American and could care less about politics! Which is kind of the point. McCain for President 2008. If the republican party hasn't screwed itself up by then!
  15. Dove - Why must it be one dimensional? Can't people search for life in various ways? Some can try your way. Some can try to just find it. Some can try other methods. Columbus didn't understand what he had found, neither did Lief Ericson, but they did it anyway.
  16. Sorry! way off track there. I am afraid to admit I actually lived in England as a child for a few years. I remembered something about rabies - now I remember there isn't any!
  17. I think foxes spread rabies in the UK. They might help keep the population of other vermin - 'rats' under control though. In any case, I would think there would be more efficient means of killing foxes. IMO, this would go under the majority rules - I don't think people have a 'right' to hunt foxes and I don't think foxes have a 'right' not to be hunted.
