Hi Friends!
I'm planning to make a Galvanic/Daniell Cell (Electrochemistry). I've been given the following materials:
1. Magnesium Ribbon (5cm)
2. Zinc Strip (2cm by 5cm)
3. Copper Strip (2cm by 5cm)
4. Beakers
5. Crocodile Clips and Wires
6. One 1.5V bulb
7. One LED
8. 100Ω resistor
9. One switch
10. Potassium Chloride
I'm wondering that since using the zinc and copper strips would produce an e.m.f of 1.10V, would it be enough to light up a 1.5V for at least 10 seconds or more? Does anyone have other possible combinations for the strips like instead of copper and zinc, say maybe magnesium and zinc etc.. If so, what would be the e.m.f output? If i use zinc and copper strips, where do i get the Zinc Sulfate and Copper Sulfate solutions in the form of household chemicals and consumer products? (I don't have a license to get them in pure form and industrial chemicals is not an option). I've been bothered about this project for the past few days especially the e.m.f value and how to obtain the solutions.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards
