How to kill a small animal to shorten its suffering?
Indeed, that's why the farmer should deal the killing blow, farming it out to a butcher (pun intended) is an ethical mistake, that leads to veganism.

Evidence of Human Common Ancestry
But it does though, especially in a scientific discussion; at best it's a temporary truth, that needs to be understood, before you move on to the next temporary truth and etc. until you get your PhD, only then can you decide what's correct, for a brief moment in time... Before the next smartarse tells you your wrong... 😝 And yes, that's an incorrect generalisation. 😉

How to kill a small animal to shorten its suffering?
Fair enough, but why is a priest pertinent to the argument/topic?

How to kill a small animal to shorten its suffering?
Yes, It's a direct reply to your question... The OP wanted to kick a dog to death, I'm suggesting that's a little 'over the top'...

Evidence of Human Common Ancestry
It was an observation, based on the number of folk's that try to use one to bolster their argument, for some reason... 😎 Yes it does, unless it's axiomatic... 😉

How to kill a small animal to shorten its suffering?
The ethically logical approach, is to do everything you can to make it as unaware and comfortable as possible, before you, the arbiter, decide to kill it.

Can science fix politics (split from Messages to the president...)
In the hope that we can make it better... 🙏 Science isn't trying to fix politics, if anything it's trying to distance itself, lest it influences the results... 😉 This is why science needs philosophy, it's also why the Trump's of this world spend so much effort tracking down and eliminating the intellectual's, and spend money providing the scientist with a nice shiny lab. I'm not singling out the scientist, we all have a price.

Seems to me the question is about kindness, and how that can lead to suffering...

Evidence of Human Common Ancestry
I imagine it would make us lazier, happier to have things understood for us. More somer and fewer savage's.😉

Can science fix politics (split from Messages to the president...)
Science is often just as mired in politics as every other profession. The reason why Trump wins in the minds of some people is the simplicity of his narrative versus the counter-intuitive complexity of the reason he's wrong, it's infuriating to those that can see through his specious BS; and by the time his posse realise their mistake, it'll be too late to change their mind. All we can do is, ride the wave and hope for the best...

'theory of everything'
What makes you think an infinite number of monkey's could be bothered to write like Shakespeare?

Messages to the president...

'theory of everything'
Nope, an algorithm is a strict set of steps towards a goal, rational thinking is understanding when that's just an excuse... 😉
-
Genesis 1:26... created humans in his own image of God...
The value of the information is determined by the understander, for instance, when one understands the "bible", then one doesn't need a God; whilst, simultaneously, understanding why other people do need a God. The value of information is determined by the teacher... 😉 Nearly all of my teacher's were roughly humanoid looking...

Exploring the Role of AI in Modern Software Development
It seems like we're in a sort of Heisenberg uncertainty principle with the question (bolded), we have to know where to start the calculation i.e. what is a smart human? Of course not, even the superhero 'Captain hindsight' isn't that powerful...

a question that intrigues me
The thing is, all this happened on the Earth we all share and can observe relative to each other; all those other Earth's may well exist, but we can't perceive them. Hindsight is the only exact science, but we keep trying to use it to be more clairvoyant, which is a mistake however intriguing. 😉
