It makes no sense to you, or me for that matter, but it clearly made sense to those that built it. http://planetsave.com/2012/06/24/stonehenge-marked-the-unification-of-britain-researchers-say/

Probably not as the island had no indigenous people but instead was settled, most likely, by Polynesians about 1200ad. Also the language stayed close enough to the original that continued contact was almost certain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Island

This was an obviously poor attempt at humour, I should have used a smiley.

As an interesting aside the stones were quarried in Pembrokeshire 160 miles from the site. http://www.huffingto..._n_1158764.html edit/ and this is probably how they were built. http://www.bradshawfoundation.com/stonehenge/construction.php

I live very close to Stonehenge; he’s got a point about the aliens they pop back once a year to make pretty patterns in the crops just to prove they did it.

Maybe, maybe not, it is of course pure speculation with absolutely nothing to back it. I prefer the null hypothesis to inform my conclusions on the subject. You are clearly an intelligent man with a strong mathematical/physics ability, but equally clear is your inability to communicate with humility and, to a lesser extent, clarity. This doesn’t mean you have to be nice to everyone, but assuming most others lack understanding is both arrogant and just plain wrong, many members here are your equal or better, I of course don’t include myself, but even I get your meaning, it’s not hard to follow, I just don’t agree with your conclusions.

What obvious facts you have provide zero evidence to support what you are calling facts. off topic what’s this got to do with your premise Nobody in this thread has suggested intelligent life doesn’t exist in our universe please re-read DH’s post #30 and many others. The observable universe has been measured http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universe This has been explained several times. You clearly believe in this, but that doesn’t make it true and blaming a giant conspiracy, seemingly focused on you, just doesn’t make any sense. This thread has so far provided plenty of evidence against your assertions, you have provided almost nothing and what you have provided has been debunked. Closed minded is when you ignore all evidence placed before you in favour of what you believe, only you fit this description in this thread. It really is time to put up (evidence) or shut up.

Why is there a reputation system?

It helps me in judging the quality and clarity of my posts. Not at all, I judge each post on content, not who writes it. -
Why is there a reputation system?
dimreepr replied to Aethelwulf's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
Instead of concentrating on the negative side of the system lets look at the positive. If one gets a neg rep point that should give one pause for thought and indicate that there may be something not quite right, it may not of course, as any system is open to abuse. That’s one of reasons we need the mods, which incidentally are volunteers and often are not appreciated. It’s clear some decide to take such things personally, instead of using it as a learning aid, to improve the quality and clarity of one’s methods. Positive rep points are something to aspire to in general and the lack of such is another example that one’s method isn’t quite right. Sure the systems not perfect and perhaps Roberts’ suggestion has merit; however I personally like the system as it is. I am certainly not the sharpest tool in the box and value the opportunity to learn, this system helps me greatly. -
Ok, I claim there is no god and challenge you to prove me wrong. Edit/ If you want a scientific argument try claiming something scientifically arguable.

Almost every culture throughout the world has some sort of creation myth, none of which AFAIK has anything at all to do with spaceships. The propensity to ascribe the unknown to a god or the supernatural has more to do with our superstitions than aliens. We are not alone in the animal world to have superstitions as a result of associative learning tendencies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B._F._Skinner#Superstition_in_the_pigeon http://www.globalanimal.org/2011/06/13/are-animals-superstitious/42083/ http://www.springerlink.com/content/7yv3rmp7mjxjranc/

Again with the insults and yet still no actual EVIDENCE, as I said in my previous post they needed to cut and place the stones accurately because of the lack of mortar, why didn’t these advanced aliens realise the use of mortar would reduce the need to be so accurate and make the structure much easier to build. You are correct, in that, culture has an enormous influence on how we think and perceive science overcomes this, by the use of empirical evidence rather than just conjecture and here say. Time to pony up the evidence that supports your assertion, just because you can’t think of a reasonable explanation doesn’t mean one doesn’t exist.
-
By this rational I can only assume you think magic is real. If an advanced civilisation demonstrates its technology to a primitive people they are likely to ascribe the affects to “magic” simply because they lack the knowledge to understand what they are seeing. The arrogance to assume that an ancient civilisation lacks its own technology is quite revealing. Because we don’t understand their technology doesn’t make it magic, we simply don’t understand. As Moontanman says it’s insulting; to assume that just because we ‘seem’ more civilised doesn’t make them less intelligent, they’re our ancestors.
-
One reason for the need to be so precise in cutting the stones and fitting them together is the lack of mortar, as a builder you should know this better than most. As for the rest of your post, there’s as much evidence for magic gods as there is for your alien friends, unless of course you have something to share other than insults.

Does this imply Human brain photographic editing ability?

I hope this doesn’t take this thread too far off topic, but as a biker I have been made very aware, from experience, that we are sometimes blind to what we’re not expecting. http://www.theinvisiblegorilla.com/gorilla_experiment.html http://www.simplypsychology.org/perception-theories.html -
Ouch, that burns...

Whilst I have to agree with your assessment of the role the media play in shaping the modern statesmen, I do have a caveat, that being the tendency, at least here in the UK, for the modern politicians to be in a “bubble”. They go straight from education into politics via internships. So the problem is twofold 1. They have to have money so only the elite may apply. 2. They have no real world experience. This creates a natural void between the average citizen and the ruling class.

Paranoid nonsense, mainstream science doesn’t accept your challenges because they too are nonsense.

This doesn't necessarily follow as the subordinates will conspire against such a leader, especially in tribal situations. http://en.wikipedia....adership_theory

Global Universe is like a 3D Rainbow or Matryoshka dolls
dimreepr replied to dapifo's topic in Speculations
Then you need to come back with evidence that actually supports your hypothesis, the multiverse may exist but not IMO in the way you suggest. -
Global Universe is like a 3D Rainbow or Matryoshka dolls
dimreepr replied to dapifo's topic in Speculations
Whilst these links are very interesting, they don’t support your hypothesis, other than suggesting we are part of a multiverse. Your hypothesis posits that each version of the different universes are inside ours, but at different scales, whereas the tentative evidence you have provided posits they are outside of our universe. Correct me if I’m wrong. -
I’m certainly no expert but it seems to me if the ort cloud had enough material to protect us from gamma ray bursts then we’d have difficulty in seeing the cosmos in any great detail, as for the size this will help. http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/65024-interactive-scale-of-the-universe/page__p__664954__fromsearch__1#entry664954

I agree that’s what he’s arguing but the premise is flawed. Homosexuality is an act between consensual adults; the argument doesn’t follow in the case for paedophilia, even when it’s consensual the child doesn’t necessarily understand the consequences. Besides which the trend in each case is opposed, homosexuality is gradually becoming more acceptable in mainstream ideologies whereas the opposite seems to be true for paedophilia.

In a word yes, however there’s nothing like a deadline to concentrate the, collective, mind. I have likened the situation, as I see it, to a plane full of people arguing over how fast to hit the mountain. No doubt the captain will rest the controls just in time to steer us clear, we can but live in hope.
