I think the idea is baseless, so no.

Silly putty with magnetic powder mixed in looks to me. Cool though. Try making your own. Grind up the black sand from your placer mining activities; it's magnetite.

The joined parts often aren't always impermeable. The yellow wood glue is exposed to air because the wood has cavities containing air. The same is true for regular white glue joining paper, wood, leather etcetera. See this article for different glue types and characteristics: >> List of glues

Welcome. Don't know about putty stuff. Do you have a linkage? Gotta run; wormhole is closing. Check you tomorrow.

Good idea. If these are your magnets, they are hematite and still widely available for sale. Magnetic Rattlesnake Eggs Other adverts: magnet eggs

Which chemicals do you use to enhance your muscles?
Acme replied to chemicalman's topic in Chemistry
I'm sure there are. But you asked 'Which chemicals do you use to enhance your muscles?' and I don't use steroids. I use food and exercise to enhance my muscles. -

Food and exercise. -
That's all well & good. What I mean is for you to describe an experiment or experiments -in detail- that would identify and characterize your hypothetical waves.

How would you test for such a thing?

?? x^2+y^2<=r^2 and 0<=tan^(-1)(x, y)<=pi/2 (assuming radius r, center (0, 0), and rotation angle 0°)

Area = π × r2 : 1/4 of that would be 1/4 × π × r2 or Area of sector = 1/2 × r2 × θ : θ = angle in radians :1/4 circle is 90º = 0.5π rad = 1.5707963268 rad Area of 1/4 circle = 1/2 × r2 × 1.5707963268 Circumference = 2 × π × r : 1/4 of that would be 1/4 × 2 × π × r = 1/2 × π × r

No it does not.

Do you want the area or the length of the arc?

Well, you guys gave direct answers so I don't really see the problem. But whatever. You could at least leave my reference to Wolfram Alpha as it can be a valuable resource to student.

One isn't better than another except in regards to your exact use/purpose. As to amount of heat, it depends on the size. One advantage to a trough reflector is that it doesn't have to be continuously moved in the same way as a parabolic 'bowl'. I built this experimental solar trough for producing bio-char in the receiver. The reflecting surface is silvered cardboard & the receiver is a section of metal stove pipe. It worked great, but it was too small to reach the necessary temp in the receiver. Edit: Too small in the top-to-bottom measure as seen in the photo. This unit was ~ 4ft top-to-bottom.

I believe they should be mandatory to teach life skills in school
Acme replied to Marshalscienceguy's topic in Politics
In fact 'we' do teach children life-skills. In the US, it varies state-to-state and district-to-district. State Requirements for High School Life-Skills Courses -

Starting a lab for my daughter. Input appreciated!!!
Acme replied to Crimson's topic in Science Education
I would think that paint would be more susceptible to damage than what you have. School activity grade sounds pretty good for what you and your daughter will be doing. We used to collect bugs on pins at that age, but you may want to sound her out on the issue before getting the equipment. If she's game, fit her up. Photographing bugs can be rewarding as a collection and no harm no foul. Here's a good ID site: >> Bug Guide . net -
Starting a lab for my daughter. Input appreciated!!!
Acme replied to Crimson's topic in Science Education
As to Geology, you can gather the following items for your daughter to determine hardness of a mineral either in the lab or the field. Fingernail 2.0 - 2.5 Copper penny 3.0 (you need an older penny that is copper or some copper wire) Nail 4.0 Glass 5.5 Knife blade 5.0 - 6.5 Steel file 6.5 Streak plate 6.5 - 7.0 (unglazed white tile) Quartz 7.0 source -
Everything in the spoilers is poop. Case dismissed.

I think I remember Shakespeare speaking to this. The better part of valor is discretion, in the which better part I have sav'd my life. ~ William Shakespeare ~

Mmmmmm mmmmmmm! The Squash chips are great plain, with salsa, with cottage cheese, and I have to imagine with any dippy stuff. I particularly like the Yellow Squash chips. Watermelon chips...scrumptious! As the book said, they are like candy. We were particularly surprised by how sweet they are. Blueberries in the dryer this morn; just two trays worth as most is going to jam. Squash Chips Watermelon Chips Bluberries
