I want to vote for Larry Waters, he is man of vision. Larry's boyhood dream was to fly. When he graduated from high school, he joined the Air Force in hopes of becoming a pilot. Unfortunately, poor eyesight disqualified him. When he was finally discharged, he had to satisfy himself with watching jets fly over his back yard. One day, Larry brightened up. He decided to fly. He went to the local Army-Navy surplus store and purchased 45 weather balloons and several tanks of helium. Each weather balloon, when fully inflated, measured more than four feet across. Back home, Larry securly strapped the balloons to his sturdy lawn chair. He anchored the chair to the bumper of his Jeep and inflated the balloons with the helium. He climbed on for a test ride while it was still only a few feet off the ground. Satisfied that it would work, Larry packed several sandwiches and a six-pack of Miller lite, loaded his pellet gum -- figuring he could pop a few balloons when it was time to descend -- and went back to the floating lawnchair where he tied himself in along with his pellet gun and provisions. Larry's plan was to lazily float up to a height of about 30 feet above his back yard after severing the anchor and in a few hours come back down. Things didn't quite work out for Larry. When he cut the cord anchoring the lawn chair to his jeep, he didn't float lazily up to 30 or so feet, instead he streaked into the LA sky as if shot from a cannon. He didn't level off at 30 feet, nor did he level off at 100 feet. After climbing and climbing, he leveled of at 11,000 feet. At that height he couldn't risk shooting any of the balloons, lest he unbalance the load and really find himself in trouble. So he stayed there, drifting, cold and frightened for more than 14 hours when he found himself in the primary approach corridor of LAX. A Pan Am pilot first spotted Larry. He radioed the tower and described passing a guy in a lawn chair with a gun. Radar confirmed the existence of an object floating 11,000 feet above the airport. LAX emergency procedures swung into full alert and a helicopter was dispatched to investigate. LAX is right on the ocean. Night was falling and the offshort breeze began to flow. It carried Larry out to sea. Right on Larry's heels was the helicopter. Several miles out, the helicopter caught up with Larry. Once the crew determined that Larry was not dangerous, they attempted to close in for a rescue but the draft from the blades would push Larry away whenever they neared. Finally, the helicopter ascended to a position several hundred feet above Larry and lowered a rescue line. Larry snagged the line, with which he was hauled back to shore, a difficult maneuver, flawlessly executed by the helicopter crew. As soon as Larry was hauled to earth, he was arrested by waiting members of the LAPD for violating LAX airspace. As he was led away in handcuffs, a reporter dispatched to cover the daring rescue asked him why he had done it. Larry stopped, turned and replied nonchalantly, "A man can't just sit around."

Thank you r1dermon, shooting is a fun sport. An AR15 is not a knock down firearm, 30-06, 30-30, .308, .270, 300 mag, those are your bigger cals for knock down power. People who criticize AR owners have never shot one for fun. People dont like them cause the way they look. And Dream Lord, I guess you dont know anything about a gun since you fail to see how a trigger assembly make the difference. Military M16 has a selection option for single shot, 3 round burst and fully auto, which is decreasing, cause accuracy is lost, the 3 round burst is the best option for military use. ARs have low recoil which keeps your scope zeroed in longer.

A good reason for the economic decline, not to blame politics, but science. http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,,1159776,00.html

Its alot of reading, but I was just stating a point, but no, my family wont go hungry if I dont kill a deer. I could use a bow and arrow to kill the deer, but using a gun is easier on a sport that is already hard. The areas I hunt are thick woods, large open fields, and big hills. A bow can not reach as far as a riffle will. But the original point of hunting point, was someone had mentioned people killing for fun, I use the meat from my game.

Here is my "assult" weapon. .223 cal Bushmaster xm15e2s (also known as an AR15 with A2 removable handle) with my .45 cal Glock 21. This year I have fired 1700 rounds through my AR15 and 900 through my Glock. Now tell me, what is wrong with having a hobby?

Micheal Moore, the fraud. The (Bloomington) Pantagraph newspaper in central Illinois has sent a letter to Moore and his production company, Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., asking Moore to apologize for using what the newspaper says was a doctored front page in the film, the paper reported Friday. It also is seeking compensatory damages of $1. A scene early in the movie that shows newspaper headlines related to the legally contested presidential election of 2000 included a shot of The Pantagraph's Dec. 19, 2001, front page, with the prominent headline: "Latest Florida recount shows Gore won election." The paper says that headline never appeared on that day. It appeared in a Dec. 5, 2001, edition, but the headline was not used on the front page. Instead, it was found in much smaller type above a letter to the editor, which the paper says reflects "only the opinions of the letter writer." "If (Moore) wants to 'edit' The Pantagraph, he should apply for a copy-editing job," the paper said.

The first thing I would ask Kerry if I was to meet him would be... So Kerry whats with the long face? Next, Dream Lord, my oldest brother served 1 year and 1 month in Iraq, but I do not blame Bush for war. 2nd, I would like to have Kerrys actuall medical records from Vietnam. My dad fought in Vietnam for 8 months the was wounded twice by a mortor round. At least Bush did serve in an armed force unlike the draft dodging hero of the democrats Clinton who cause are economic troubles back in 1999 when it actually started to fall. Clinton success was Reagonomics. And if being a UN puppet makes the world happy, then count me out.

What makes a gun illegal? I can apply and recieve a class 3 license to purchase and sell automatic firearms. All it takes is a clean history. The only thing wrong with firearms is there wrong people with firearms, but the same thing can be said with anything else. Look at the Unibomber, fertilizer can be a bad thing.... why not band all fertilizer then. Then you will have to band the sale of some household chemicals like certain brands of pipe cleaner that when mixed with certain metals will cause an explosion. You cant just blame guns for violent crimes. When I do hunt, that deer I kill feeds my family for a few months with plenty of meat.

John Kerry conflicted wounds on himself and pushed to have the Purple Heart awarded to him. Dropping a gernade in a rice basket and not having enought since to duck afterwards then complaining cause you a couple of scratches, or shooting a M79 launcher to close to yourself and getting a small splinter in you does not meand you must cry till you get a Purple Heart for it. Bush isnt the brightest bulb in the basket, but he is lesser of the two evils cause he makes you laugh with every dumb comment. Why cant we just have state rights, and have the federal gov control military, social security, and roadways.

Let me chime in as this is my first post here. Everyone has the right to own a firearm. I personally own serveral, even one that is labeled an "assult" riffle. Being a NRA and GOA member I have to ask anyone who has never fired a firearm to go to your local range and talk to some of the people there and try shooting one yourself. If you have a friend that hunts or goes to ranges, have that person take you with them to try it out. I have also taken conceled carry course to carry my Glock 21 as personal protection. The right for someone to own a firearm or be in a well maintained militia is your right, and my passion to protect.
