Guns have saved lives, and protected valuables. You really cant use America as a basis for crime rate though. This is the melting pot of society, we have every type of person on this planet here. No other country is as diverse as ours. And btw, I am a NRA member, they do alot more then a nonmember thinks. r1, you sound sane to me.

    See above post.
  3. Very few cities with less then 50,000 in them? There is thousands of them in the USA. I live in the Charlotte surrounding area, there is over 1.2 million people here with 2 nuclear plants. I wonder how many cities have plants that produce chemicals, or use chemicals like in Bhopal did. You are saying it is ineffective to use weapons like that, well Bhopal was an accident (not really, more like poor management), but chemicals are used in all sorts of industries located beside major cities. So not a direct release with a crop duster, but a hit on an existing plant to create the lethal poison.
  4. A big problem with politics is people often attack the person, not the subject. It happens in all debates it seems. If you cant discredit a topic, then discredit the source.
  5. Union Carbide is still paying out for that.
  6. The Bhopal disaster which was a release of methyl isocyanate which happened because water got into the storage tanks and they used substandard safety equip. But the release of the gas was good enough to kill 50000 and hurt 600000 people. So yes a release of chemical gas could kill a mobile city.

The Swiss have the best answer for guns in society.
  8. A “Volcano Advisory” – Level II – was issued at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday morning, Sept. 29, 2004 . A “Volcano Advisory” means that USGS has determined that “processes are underway that could culminate in hazardous volcanic activity, but the evidence does not indicate that a life or property threatening event is imminent.” USGS issued this “Advisory” based on accelerated seismic activity at Mount St. Helens – 3 to 4 earthquakes per minute as of Wednesday morning and preliminary measurements showing a slight 1-2 centimeter movement in the dome, caused by earthquakes over the past five days.
  9. I voted because you cant give into terrorist. Trading many people for one is not risk worth taking.
  10. LINK VANCOUVER, Washington (CNN) -- A series of unusual earthquakes near Mount St. Helens in recent days has scientists warning that something more serious could be imminent.
  11. All of this debating we have done, it all still breaks down to one thing for this election. You are either voting for or against Bush. Kerry will loose votes to Nader, So as long Bush has 48% of the votes, he is in.
  12. Yeap, Baghdad Bob.
  13. r1, what about those who come back from war, protest it, throw there medals away, then many years later try to use those medals for his glory.
  14. Breaking News, Dan Rather Fired, his new unbiased replacement.
  15. He was referring to a report though, just not the '98 one. So lets see 7 years, and was reports a few months away, hmm, maybe they did have the capability to do so. Or maybe Saddam had his labs built in Syria which all materials was sold to by France, and partially funded by Saudi Arabia, and workers from India and China helped. Plus scientist from Dupont and Jeff Gordon helped. Hmm, lets conspire more things, like AIDS was created in China originally for population control and was tested in Africa to test it out.
  16. If Dolly Parton married Tommy Smothers, then went even further back in show business and married Mr. Lucky, then divorced and married Martin Short, then divorced and married football kicker Ray Guy, we could all nod understandingly when we heard, "Dolly Parton Smothers Lucky Short Guy". With that said, how do you know if your parents are really your parents? Was it really your dad? Do you look like the milk man? Anything and everything can be questioned, after listening to all sides of a story, you have to make up what you believe. I believe John Kerry is a liar about many things, I believe Bush is dumb. I would rather follow a dumbass then a liar. It kinda like work, my old boss was a dumbass, my new boss is just an ass. Cant trust the new boss, but the old boss was too dumb to take seriously.
  17. War does suck, I have a great grandfather burried in Normady, many relatives of mine have went to war. My oldest brother served in Iraq for 1 year and 1 month doing raids and guarding crap. He has a compound disk fracture in his back from jumping over a wall chasing an arms dealer, no purple heart for it, just a bad back / tilted pelvic bone, and a leg that pops out of joint now. That is why I dont like Kerry using his medals to help him. He once threw his, or someone elses medals over the white house fence. Those medals represent all soldiers that fought for this country, and he threw them away.
  18. I hear you, my dad has a purple with a star, which means 2 wounds, from Vietnam. Wounded will in combat by a mortor shell that exploded in front of him causing him to lose 80% of his hearing in one ear, 30 % in the other, sharpnel wounds in head and back. It required surgery to remove some of the metal in his head and back, most of it remains there. Now is a band aid wound worth the same as that?
  19. I like the pick pocket version too.
  20. What did oh Hanoi John do to help the cause in Vietnam? Photograph of John Kerry meeting with Comrade Do Muoi, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, in Vietnam. Photo displayed in the War Remnants Museum (formerly the "War Crimes Museum") in Saigon. The June 2, 2004, edition of "Viet Nam News" is held beside the Kerry photograph to confirm the date the photo was taken. English-language placard below photograph reads: "Mr. Do Muoi, Secretary General of the Vietnam Communist Party met with Congressmen and Veterans Delegation in Vietnam (July 15-18, 1993)."

How did people live and eat before the market place? Easy, they hunted there prey. It goes way back in time, so yes, hunting is a past-time.
