well, I personally can find much more entertaining things then going hunting or to a shooting range, like uhm, sitting around in my boxers typing on an internet forum. Shooting for sport is good and all, but hunting seems rather pointless unless you eat your kill. To many people hunt simply to put another dead animal head on a wall somewhere. But like I said, unless you take all the illegal guns off the street, it is entirely pointless to remove the legal ones.

Edit: Blah, me and my impatient self, I once again did not notice the 2nd and 3rd page of the topic. I was reffering to the post on page one where guy was dissing kerry's war record based on the swift boat vet liars. I can point you to proof he didn't do it. http://www.snopes.com/politics/kerry/service.asp All the people who belong to the swift boat vets for truth that are making these claims; 1) Did not serve with Kerry. With the exception of one man. 2) Were also appointed to smear John McCain in the 2000 elections. Basically, the veitnam vets are still mad at Kerry for exposing the atrocities being commited by our troops. So they tell lies to try and screw up his record. Ok, even assuming some of these rediculous claims are true, whats worse? Lieing about injuries to get a medal so you can get the hell out of a war? Or dodging your obligation to the national gaurd? Killing wounded enemy soldiers? Or being responsible for the deaths of THOUSANDS of enemy and friendly soldiers, civilians, etc? Now, once again, the first and third questions have been debunked, and are not true. You can ignore my link (snopes doesn't lie) and continue to spew this filth about kerry, or you can read it, and find something else to not like about him.

well, there was a point in time when it grew wild. I've heard that old classic rock song "The day the music died" (can't remember the artist or actual song name), anyhow, the part where it says "Drove my chevy to the levy but the levy was dry" was actually reffering to all the wild pot that grew on the banks of rivers already being picked cleaned. The antifreeze thing is what I've always understood. Also, pot is not the only plant to posses THC. Catnip, for instance, posseses a much smaller amount. Makes you wonder if you couldn't grow some strong strain of catnip.

I must say, I thought it was a pretty smooth way to point out like threads.

back in my evil days, well, lets just say one could do some pretty mean things to an IRC server with enough proxys at his control. We used them, for instance, to have multiple connections to the same IRC network. It also allowed you to act a foo, without fear of being banned. These days, such behaviour isn't worth the risk, so unless you are truly looking into this for protection, I wouldn't mess with it. Even then just get a router. Some proxy servers log who connects, some do not. I hardly think they would be any more able to send virus to your pc through ip then I would. A proxy is a redirect. It is similar to calling a friend on a cell phone, who is talking to your other friend on a different line. You tell friend A to tell friend B something, and as you can imagine, due to this delay in transmission, it slows the connect. So when you try to connect to google.com via some.proxy.server.com your IP connects to the proxy, which in turn retrieves the info from google.com. The proxy then directs the information to your IP. You can also trace IP's, so a person could indeed trace a proxy back to your IP with enough effort.

True that you could get a wheel spinning faster, and more stable with frictionless bearings and no (or little) gravity. But as soon as you start using the energy of that spinning wheel to move electrons (make electricity) it exerts an opposite force against the rotation of the wheel. This will stop the wheel, unless something maintains the wheels rotation. Quests for PM brought us the Flywheel, which is used on any IC engine, several industrial machines, pottery wheels. With a little input energy, you can get the wheel spinning. However, we have not found a way to keep the wheel spinning without maintaining some amount of input. Lookup FES (Flywheel Energy Storage)

Before they went mainstream they were called Hybrid Theory. It is hard to find any info about it. But they chose to change names when going mainstream, and used the old band name as the album. There is an album floating around in p2p land, "Splitting the DNA" it has never been released to my knowledge, has some very interesting twists to their songs, and some songs you may not have ever heard. I guess I should mentioned Iced Earth, In Flames, and ratm.

what does that have to do with anything? Hmm. I used to race go-karts. The kind with a 5hp B&S engine, converted to run on alcohol. The entire cart probably weighed about 150lbs. I could through 25mph turns at well over 60mph with proper gearing and a long enough stretch. Also, if lighter cars=worse handling, why do all the best handling cars in the world weigh very little? And of course, for the sake of comparison, one would assume equally skilled drivers. I didn't say it would certainly win. I said it was a safe bet, due to the power to weight ratio. There are many undetermined factors that go into racing, as you pointed out, most of which are human. Even the best pro racers in the world make mistakes. Hey, the elise would also outrun my bike. It would outrun my old Z. It would probably outrun my brothers EVO. Its a tough car. sorry I went there. We keep this up we might hijack the thread.

We used to shoot each other with bb guns. However, since we were also dirt bikers, we had helmet and goggles, which struck us as a good idea. Never had anyone lose a testicle, however. We had a chance to play some paintball in a junk yard once. It was pretty awesome. You could take cover in the cars, conversion vans and SUV's make great forts. Plus the terrain varied from muddy to dry, with briar bushes to keep you on your toes. I never played airsoft, it seems pretty interesting, but I just don't know about getting shot by things that do not break.

I play, been a while, but I love it. We are actually going to try to setup an urban combat paintball field. I got shot in the neck once. It was at pretty close range however, and my mask did not cover that area. For the longest time, it looked like I was burned with a car cigarette lighter.

well, I don't know of any car that does more then left or right. However, I agree you will be hard pressed to find an american produced car that handles on par with foriegn competitors. For instance, every year a 240, 260, or 280 z or zx was produced, it out performed (in virtually ever aspect) that corresponding years corvette, and for a fraction of the cost. The elise may be a poor mans lambo, but I expect it will also out perform several high dollar sports car. The Lancer EVO for instance, is like #5 of car and drivers best cars, right below the lamborgini Mercilago (no clue on the spelling)

ahh ya, I knew something was lower, been a while.

because then you need to supply energy to make it work. If your supply of energy comes from an outside source, it isn't perpetual motion. Even, if for some reason you could get a wheel spinning via magnets (Which I think has been done) you could not really draw any energy from it. Hook up a pulley to your wheel, which turns an alternator. As you demand more and more energy from the alternator, it opposes the input motion from your magnet wheel more and more. Eventually, it will sieze up as the energy of the wheel will be determined by the strenght of the magnets, which can not be adjusted. Perpetual motion is not possible. Accept it people. Does this mean free energy (as in, money) is not possible? Not at all. It is just a matter of enough people putting their heads together to work with the resources at our disposal. You want to make energy, figure out how to build a really effiecent mini hydro station, or windmill. Maybe you can use a solar oven to boil water into steam, which in turn spins a turbine. And burning wood is still quite viable. Especially if you have alot availible. Take it from someone who has wasted alot of time on PM, its all been said, its all been tried, and none of it works.

anything but country music. More into metal, some rap, classical music (much like metal IMO) and the only pop I like is the bands that I listen to before they became pop. Linkin Park for instance, I've been following them since they were known as "Hybrid Theory".

hp and torque is nice, but the defining feature of a car is its power to weight ratio. the lotus, wieghing about 1975lbs, and producing 190 bhp has somewhere around a 10.4 lbs/1hp. Your car, the 92 Formula, using specs from the largest engine put in these cars the 5.7L 350, makes 240 hp. The coupe weighs 3200 lbs, the convertable weighs 3300 lbs. We'll go with the coupe 3200/240 = 13.3 lbs/1hp Comparing these two figures; Elise 10.4 lbs/1hp. Formula 13.3 lbs/1hp It is a safe bet that the Elise would win in a drag race. We don't even want to talk about a curvy road, or say, a Lancer Evolution. Sure, there isn't much of an advantage, a few pounds. Just an interesting note, myself and my bike weigh in about 500 lbs. The bike makes 38.4hp @ 9800 rpm (at the wheel too!!). 500/38.4 = 13.02lbs/1hp, and all I have to do to reduce weight is go on a diet

From what I've understood, thc is like a plant anti-freeze. This is why you let plants grow until after the first frost. The freezing temperatures cause more of the thc to move from the stalk to the buds to help protect them. This in turn makes the pot more potent. In humans, I think I read over at newscientist that we have a similar chemical to thc in our brains which helps with erasing memorys.

could you use a white led? I have a small pocket sized led flash light that runs off a watch battery. I know led's require very little voltage in comparison to your standard bulbs.

I rarely use messengers, they annoy me. The only I time I get on them anymore is to talk with my cousin. I got vonage, which features unlimited US calling, so I'd rather talk instead of type. I've tried changing the settings, I'm likely just missing something. But I allow full access for yahoo for example, but it still doesn't connect. Close zone alarm and try to connect again and boom. I'm also sitting behind a router, so I don't worry to much.

I'm not real familiar with netscape, but I don't think you need a plug in. Look under "Preferences" or "Settings", and see if you find something that mentions proxy servers. If you are looking into using a proxy server to help mask your identity, well, it will work with the web to some extent, but if you can even get an online game to accept it, it will slow you down horribly. Instead of a direct connection from your machine to the game server, it will instead be a connection from your machine, to the proxy, to the game server. The extra step will increase your lag, and in FPS games, more lag equals slower reaction time.

Well, out of habit, and because I tire of fixing registries, unistalling bs programs and basically unclogging windows, I simple reinstall windows about 2 times a year. Sure, you can get some registry repair software, uninstall programs, etc and maintain your pc. Or, you just wipe it clean and reinstall. Now, people are like "I'll lose all my stuff". Well, back it up, and when you reinstall, setup a minimum of 2 partitions. I tend to setup my C partition to around 10 gb, and however much space remains to my second partition. This way, you can easily transfer things like links, my documents, various other things you don't want to lose. Then, simply pop your windows disk in the cd-rom, an install it to the smaller partition. The reason I say this, is if you are having a myriad of computer problems, lots of programs running on startup, error messages, etc, it will be easier for you to start from scratch then to try and repair it. I'll try to look at your other threads later, but it sounds like a software related problem to me. You might try using a different mouse if possible, and try using your mouse on a sheet of paper or cardboard. The various finishes and surface on the wood may be causing weird problems as 5614 mentioned.

I myself do not agree with being homosexual, but I'm not really anti-anything. I'm just anti-umessinwithmylife. And nobody really has a right to stop anyone from doing anything that isn't taking away from anyones freedom, or causing pain in some way. Its not about being anti-gay, or even disliking anti-gay people. It is about the supremacy kick many people are on, and the negative views they hold about people who are not the status quo.

I love rpg's, but also lack the time to play them. Instead, I now only have a few minutes for brutal slaughtering on the quake 3 servers. However, I've found a neat little web based role playing game, some may have heard of it. http://www.battleon.com Its a flash rpg game, that is constantly expanding. It is turn based, alot of pointing and clicking, but good for killin time. They are working on what they call "walk around quests" which is a pretty neat element. Anyhow, one of my all time favorite RPG games was Mario RPG on the Snes.

If you lose account of what happened, are you the same person?
drz replied to Nisou's topic in Other Sciences
Well, as far as that goes, I don't remember much of my childhood. I'm fairly certain I am the same person however. Also, I have one friend who insist I did this or that with him back in the day, but the problem is that much of this took place before we met. Also, people get things confused. I tend to believe that every event in life makes you who you are right now. Even if you have forgotten something, I highly doubt this would make you a different person.
