certainly when they are slated to be the majority in the near future. What if, in 30 years the national language is no longer english?
  2. is this limited to dark cola drinks, or all sodas? In case of the former, RC cola, in the latter, Sundrop. I guess I'm other
  3. yup, but I'm pretty sure you got to smoke the peace, and listen to beatles to be a full blown hippy. And of course we could get into questioning if the Jesus you refer to was anything more then a creation of Paul.

    Chickenpox Parties

I think they did this before really having vacines. The thought was that it didn't effect you as bad at a younger age as it did when you got older. Also I believe you can only (normally) get chicken pox once. So if it was true that it was much worse with age, it certainly seems ethical to get it over with.
  5. did jesus smoke weed? Or listen to the beatles?

well, in 20 to 50 years the majority of people will be spanish speaking. As much as I don't feel I should have to learn it, it will become a need. However, I feel it would be harder to understand the issues unless they are translated. On that note, I feel few people recognize the important issues anyways.
  7. I know not how true this is, but had once heard that most our modern profane words come from the french. Like, some battle a few centuries back, when the english kicked the frenchs bum (see, I feel ass makes that sentance 10times better, and bum is honestly just as vulger). Anyhow, they declared certain french words to be vulgar, and its pretty much stuck with us. Anyhow, while I used to be much worse at cussing, I've grown up and really only use cuss words as decriptors or to depict excitement. We sweep them under the rug, but honestly I think english teachers should address the usage of cuss words. The old saying "a time and place for everything" really holds here. My favorite example was when I first started working with my dad. I was installing vinyl siding, and my hammer glanced the nail, smashing my thumb. At this point, I yelled GD, to which my dad responded "You praying over there boy?" And he knew exactly what had happened, went and prepared some first aid type stuff for me, and I never told him I hit my finger. In short, I don't think the government should be able to restrict a certain list of words. I can use the word "buddy" in such a tone as to make it sound like I should have said "asswipe". "Hey buddy, why don't you go jump off a bridge." "Hey asswipe, why don't you go jump off a bridge." Said in the same tone, it is just as insulting. A better example you can try on your own; walk up to a sweet looking old lady, and, as if you were going to say "Hey, Go to Hell!!!" say "Hey, Go to Heaven!!!", at first, the person will think you just told them to go to hell, and then get a laugh out of it once they realise what you said.
  8. I remember that one, I think it was on newsgrounds or something. Forget if it was about saddam or OBL though. Like hippies would walk in a desert anyways
  9. purge the tanks slowly that is
  10. I can remember having an old 486 turbo packard bell. It had a whopppping 500mb of storage. Finally we filled it up, wore the pc out and got a new one. It had something like 1300 mb. I thought I would never be able to use that much data. Times changed, I got a 3 GB drive. Again, thought I would never fill it. Skipping all the steps from my 3gb to my current setup with 1 30gb drive, and one 70gb drive, I have almost filled them up and will soon be looking for another hard drive that I will never be able to fill up. And then I'll fill it up. Not everyone will put a 1TB disk to use, but I certainly would. I mean, you could backup every single computer in a household or small network on a single disk. You could have a radio station worth of music on a single disk. Libraries of info.

    I got a question

Cap'n, I too have metric tools. Sockets, wrenches etc. They are needed for foriegn vehicles. My question was on the drive size of socket wrences, AKA ratchets. I've only ever seen them in 1/4 size, 3/8 and 1/2. something like this http://store.weldingdepot.com/cgi/weldingdepot/1-5323.html I'm refering to the block that the socket locks onto.

    I got a question

wow, lil america I wasn't sure about that, thanks. I thought the UK was on a different system, using KPH and stuff. hmm
  13. Ok, so I do alot of wrench turning. I've been rebuilding a datsun truck L20B engine this past weekend. While we were assembling pieces and parts, one of us had a question we can't think of a good answer. When dealing with tools, in this case, ratchets and sockets, we have a 1/4 drive, a 3/8 drive and a 1/2 drive. Obviously since 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 are standard measurements, I was curious how ratchets are labeled in the UK or somewhere that uses the metric system. I know 3/8 is close to 10mm, 1/2 to 13mm, is this the answer?
  14. ya, I got a flexible panel at home, about 12" long by 6" wide, cost about $30. As to the hang glider, well, solar power sucks. You'd need a huge wingspan covered with solar panel, (do they have the solar paint on the market yet?), and I would think a some batterys. The worlds fastest electric car goes some 250+mph. It was using hundreds of AA batterys. You could use those, perhaps mounted to the frames. Now, I assume the purpose in having a powered glider is so that you don't need wind, or have to jump off a big cliff. I noticed you mentioned something about helium, is this to make the thing float on its own? Anyhow, huge wingspan covered in solar panels, tanks filled with helium, lots of AA battery packs, a high rpm motor with some kinda prop and steering system, can't see why it wouldn't work. I don't know alot about flying, personally detest it, because the one thing I do know about it always holds true. What goes up must come down. Also, this is probably do-able, but would cost lots of money, and by the time you finished would have a basic airplane. But on the note of airplane, would an electric plane be ideal? I mean, electric motors have alot less moving parts, the only real wear item is the brushes, and so long as everything is installed properly, reliability is through the roof. As compared to engines, which stall out, have part failures, etc. Is there any electric manned planes?

    Malware

and people call me crazy for reinstalling 2 times a year!!
  17. before I got a good grip on the spyware issue, my pc was riddled with them. It was so bad, I could not use IE, at all. I had my brother download netscape for me, and I installed it with the spyware already infecting my machine. I continued to use it infected for about 2 weeks before I finally found good programs, and never once did I have any trouble out of the crappy lil programs. I for one believe all this spyware to be a conspiracy. McCaffe and Norton aren't making enough money off virus scanners, lets invent a new problem to make software for. I find it funny that only microsoft OSs are effected, and also it indeed seems only IE. I didn't put that together until I noticed this topic.

    Porn

uhhu, heard that one b4. Its just a new tricky way of spyware. I've never seen one downloading porn without one of the pc users going to porn sites. Not sure if you are the only user, but if not, you may want to keep a watch on what others are doing with your pc. Again, AVG.

  22. well, a card that could be used in another computer a slot, that could be used by another card and uhh, I dunno man! Should have chosen a different word then resources, seeing as how that is generally a term used to describe some kinda computer power.

    555 board/kit

hmm, I've never seen such a setup. The only dual coil vehicles I know of were 80's model Nissans, which had two spark plugs per cylinder, and a coil for each set of 4. Most modern cars I've seen use whats called a "Core Pack" which is basically a digital version of a distributor and coil. I know you cannot adjust timing on newer cars with core packs, because there isn't really a distributor.
  24. I've browsed over this topic, and really, I think YT is on to something. I use an ATI radeon 9800, which has 3 outputs, on standard monitor, one RCA, and one S-Video. I have a 17" kds plugged into the standard port, and I switch between a television or projector for the RCA port. Anyhow, using this setup, I am able to watch movies on the projector, while playing games or really, anything else I want to do. One thought to your problem, is direct X. For one, you do have the most up to date DX, right? If so, trying playing a game which does not use direct x. Perhaps there is an option in warcraft to set it to GL drivers or something? I think the 2 cards might be screwing it up a bit, if I can do it with one. However, I can't say for certain that I have watched movies while playing DX games. But if you've got a graphics card with dual outputs, GOOD GOD MAN, use that one card and save some resources.
  25. I was listening to Allen Handleman the other night, and he had some guy call in asking his guest, I forget who but a republican, about e-voting security. He claimed that these voting terminals could be accessed wirelessly from up to a mile away. I had no clue wireless tech had gotten so strong myself. While I'm sure these machines can be hacked, I doubt it can be done from a mile away wireless.
