  1. MOSFETS have an extra terminal for the transistor body
  2. We measure the mass of atoms, electrons, etc--not the weight. Mass is independent of enviroment...and things like electrons are in a group of particles called leptons...and as far as we can tell, leptons are fundamental. This means that all electrons have the same rest mass. And atoms are made up of stable particles, so you can be pretty sure that there isn't going to be a big--if there is at all--deviation in mass between two of the same kind of atoms.
  3. Congratulations! Your one the millions of people who think they've done something inventive. Too bad your about hundred years too late...everything you've stated is pretty much basic set theory...if it's not, let me know how it isn't.
  4. Your pretty much reverberating Kant with a thesaurus in your hand...
  5. If your a solipsist then you might say it's possible...but if your not a crazy loon (I'm sorry, solipsism is a bunch of bull), then it's not possible
  6. How do you know something about GR is wrong? What do you consider wrong with it? I agree with you...I just want to hear your justification for it. And I personally enjoy the search for the TOE more than actually finding a TOE...
  7. What is going to suck the earth up? The earth is already in space, how is something going to get sucked into what it is already in?
  8. I don't see any reason why it's not possible, but I have no clue how probable it is.
  9. Using a laser is no faster than flicking a light switch on and off for morse code. Light always travels at c, no matter if it's a laser or just the light from your TV. And there is always data loss as a result of noise (the information noise, not the sound noise) and other random occurences, and because of entropy (The information entropy, not the thermodynamics entropy--although they are similar). But the data loss can usually be recovered using error correcting codes...I don't know if you know it or not, but it's all basic information theory.
  10. Hahahahaha it depends on what type of creationism your talking about. But in General, creationism involves God, and since God is soooo almighty ::cough cough::, there generally aren't too many rules. Hell, there are still people who think God created the earth in 7 days.
  11. And if we do find a unified field theory, how do we know it's correct? How can we distinguish between a very good approximation and an exact answer? Before Einstein, everybody thought the end of physics was in sight. The point: There's still hope for physics after the attack of a full fledged TOE.
  12. String theory still can't get gravity to work. Haha. Physics wouldn't be done even if string theory describes everything...you could spend years upoun years deriving things from a theory of everything. But string theory is still background dependent, so there is a long way to go.
  13. Nice...he's a good writer
  14. No...1/r2 is known as the inverse square law. It's a Newtonian theory of gravitational force between two objects. It's the same everywhere in the universe, for every kind if speed, motion, blah blah blah. Actually, the force between two masses m1 and m2 is actually Gm1m2/r2, where G is the gravitational constant and r is the distance between the two masses.
  15. Nice...did you read the books on Beans too? I liked those better than the Ender books.
  16. You are right...a scientific theory usually can't be proven--in fact, according to Kant, a scientific theory can never actually be considered a "truth". But when people use the term theory of everything, they don't usually mean a theory of everything. They are usually referring to a theory of quantum gravity, which is what string theory is.
  17. Nice...thanks!
  18. You can't use entanglement for FTL communication because measuring one particle collapses the wave function of both particles, and it breaks the entanglement between the two particles.
  19. It doesn't make any predictions that we can test...therefore it is just a conjecture. And, although it unifies the 4 forces, we still don't know how gravity in string theory actually works...we just know it's there.
  20. Let me know what it is if you get a reply...
  21. Because you can apply quantum field theory to point particles and strings...and the point particle approach has given us consistently accurate experimental verification, even though we know that point particles are inconsistent with General relativity because have mass concentrated at an infinitesimal point creates black holes (albeit small ones, depending on the mass)
  22. Well it could also be iron ore...
  23. Well...here's a picture of magnetite...it looks just like the stuff you found: http://homepage.smc.edu/robinson_richard/rocktest/minerals3/images/magnetite.jpg
