Hermes was known as Mercury in Roman mythology. Apollo had the same name for both. Hermes and Mercury used the Caduceus.

I saw there was an experiment on this. The smartest birds were found to be some sort of mountain parrot (kias I believe they are called) and ravens.

http://www.nidsci.org/articles/davis/wormhole_induction.html There's some math there. And why do you need mathematical proof? Why are you so quick to disprove things? If everyone only discussed things that they know are true science would get nowhere. What about some Einstein quotes... Even scientists must never stop thinking about these sorts of things. Maybe we've never found one. But nobody has ever proved that they can't exist. And the BBC article I posted earlier about the Russian theorist who came up with a formula says this:

The Culex type of mosquitoes normally carry the West Nile Virus. They do have stripes, and are rather common. But in young healthy people it only seems like a cold really. The ones who really need to worry are elderly people or people with weak immune systems.

I notice, Astrid, that most of the info you've gotten is from one website. A site, which I would like to add, that does not seem very reliable at all. Get stories from both sides. It tends to be better. And the Nazis did not just use gas to kill people. They were shot, burned alive, or met another gruesome end. Perhaps some of the worst of which were those who suffered at the hands of Dr. Mangele. And it wasn't just Jews who died. There were many others. How can you deny so many stories from those who survived that awful time? Those who lived through the camps? And why do you put gas chambers in quotation marks? Do you not beleive that they were real? Have you ever seen one of the camps? I mean, actually been there. Have you been to Poland and seen Auschwitz? Maybe you should. Look through there and then tell me that the gas chambers never existed. Then decide about these "lies" you say people just "exaggerated". You couldn't if you ever actually saw one of those camps. Trust me, you could never deny what happened if you actually saw one of the camps.

I think I will not want Bush to be president for four more years. He'll just get more chances for his little crusades against terrorism. I'll be in Canada soon anyway, but I'd still rather be next to a country with a competent leader, not one that may have troubles beating a wombat's IQ score. But on the convention... Arnold's speach bothered me. Might as well have been a cheerleader up there. A bit like watching Fox news. And the Bush duaghters are just using their looks to try to win more votes. Getting on the magazine cover and saying: "we did this on our own, not for our father." Yeah right. It's all just part of Bush's sad attempts to gain more votes.

Fun shooting? Maybe it's just me, but I don't think most people use AR15s for "fun shooting". Of course a use a bow for my "fun shooting". And my only shooting. I don't hunt, but I do support bow hunters. I fail to see how a trigger would make much of a difference. It's still an assualt weapon.

I agree. I'm not old enough to vote, but if I were I'd vote for Kerry. I would've liked to have see Clark in the election, but that didn't happen. Either way, I believe a chimp may have been a better choice than Bush. But Kerry seems fairly competent. I do like his plans for taxes, like DRZ said. Which conflicts greatly with Bush's tax cuts for the rich. Plus, Kerry has seen war. It seems to me that if someone has actually seen war they will be less likely to actually start a war (especially a pointless one).

Well, being related to a vet, I have to hear a lot about declawing. To me it seems rather unjustified. Especially when you could go to the vet and have the cat's claws cut or have claw caps put on. Becuase not only do they have to remove the cat's claws but the first digit of their toes. Spaying and nuetering on the other hand, I support. It helps to stop unwanted litters of kittens or puppies that may end up in a pound, or maybe dead. Also, it decreases the aggresion of the animal.

Thank you. That was what I was trying to say in the first place. That, theoretically it is possible to create a wormhole.

People with OCD are not just obsessive about germs. OCD is simply when a worry or thought about something obsesses someone and takes over their life. While germs are are one of the things that can be obsessed over there are other common things people with OCD can obsess over. But OCD is also when the obsession is accompanied by a compulsion. One who obsesses over germs would then likely have the compulsion to wash their hands too much, or do some of the other things you mentioned.

Um... They all seem to be equally confusing and raise just as much of an argument.

It's not that they don't exist. It's just that they couldn't effect us. So I suppose they wouldn't be included in our own deffinition of "everything". But they would still exist. Also we may never know if another universe exists, but it is still a possibility. I believe in the multiverse theory, but I also except the possibility that there may just be our one universe. Yeah... I lied about it all:rolleyes:
-
Yes I agree. If there is no possible way we could interact with this other universe (or whatever you want to call it) there is no point including it in our deffinition of "everything that exists". After all, if it cannot effect us in any way what so ever, there is no point in us even aknowledging it's existance. It is there, but we never even know about it. No more talk of my picture. And yes, Dreamlord may have a boyfriend, but it's certainly not Atomic.

I think it's partially genes and partially learned. Things like tempers seem to run in families, like how most Irish are known for the quick tempers. But if a parent acts a certain way a child will imitate the parent. If the parent is outgoing and talkative the child will likely become that way too, likewise if the parent is shy and quiet the child probably will be rather shy also.

I have no plans of putting my picture on the web. I like my avatar fine the way it is.

I think that about says it all. Don't get hung up on the names of these things.

I think it has something to do with warm versus cool colours. Something about how fast the light waves of each colour works. Blue waves move slower and therefore make people calmer. Whereas colours like yellow or orange make people feel more hurried or excitable. I heard of an experiment where a prison was painted red or pink, some colour like that. And at first made people calmer, but then the violence within the prison increased. So I would assume that pschologicaly people tend to respond to cooler colours with calmer emotions, and warm colours with more excited emotions.

You just can't let this go can you? Scientists can have conflicting theories you know. Apperently that isn't OK with you though, is it? Anyway just look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse The multiverse theory may not be likely, but there is the possibility for it. That is all I am saying.

I know they do emit radiofrequency radiation, but I'm almost positive they don't give off enough to actually give anyone cancer. That was probably just some wierd rumour.

Ooh, that's a tough question. I would have to say it's probably... DMB's Seek Up. But's it's close, there's also U2's Acrobat, and Jeff Buckley's New Years Prayer. Those are deffinitly all at least in my top 5.

I don't know if it's as much vocab as it is puncuation. That's just what's hard for me though. I'm not actually sure which of those two things there are more questions for. I'm pretty sure both those are part of the English section. For vocab I'd suggest looking in a book or practice test at some of the words they have. If you don't know them, look them up. Also, I've learned that it helps to know the Latin bases for words so you can guess what the word might mean even if you don't know for sure.

I think cartoons are fine for children. The thing is parents need to see what their children are watching and make sure it is appropriate for their age. Most of the parents who complain seem to let their children watch cartoons that their children shouldn't be watching.
