    Null Hypothesis

According to my assignment, no. Is that odd?

    Null Hypothesis

Great, thanks! How about: "You have completed an experiment where you collected data on the growth of the fungus Aspergillus grown in media containing different concentrations of a particular vitamin. The concentration of vitamins was measured in mg/l and the fungal growth in milligrams." Would "The fungus Aspergillus will grow at the same rate for all concentrations of vitamins." work?
  3. "You are testing to see if a new brand of fertilizer works better than the old brand. You have 20 plants and have divided them into two groups. The first will be grown with the old brand and the second will be grown with the new brand of fertilizer. You keep the water, temperature, light, etc. the same for both groups of plants and they are grown together in the same greenhouse. You measure the height in centimeters that the plants grow after a two week period." What is your null hypothesis? Would "The plants grown with the new brand of fertilizer would grow at the same or lower rate as the plants grown with the old brand." work?
  4. Thank you so much!
  5. "Children raised on farms, on average, have fewer cases of asthma or allergies." ?
  6. So, "A child exposed to wastes and bacteria would then contract asthma or allergies" would work? or is that too obvious? :/
  7. How do I make a decent prediction from a scientific hypothesis?? This has been coming up a lot in different areas of my school work. It's not so easy Here's one example: "Exposure to bacteria and waste products present in and on farm and pet animals in each childhood reduces the risk of the child developing asthma or severe allergies." What is a prediction of this hypothesis? Now, I just don't understand how exactly a prediction is supposed to be/look. I have searched everywhere online to find something to help with this, nada. So, if anyone has hints or anything at all to help that'd be fantastic!
