i think it should be monitored, but as you mentioned some parents are over protective, and take it far enough the other direction that i think it could be damaging. you cant say that some parents should and others shouldnt, so id say monitoring is good till a certain age, and as a seperate issue, i think some parents need counselling.

before you go calling her to find out if she would hang up, there is an important question to be asked. has she ever given you her phone number? if she has, CALL HER. if not its questionable. my way of going about it would be to ask her to sign your year book. if she leaves contact info odds are she wants to keep in touch.

as long as they dont try to buy a damn hybrid, their kids DO have basic needs. as a member of the latest generation, im gonna go ahead and say ME. although im rather curious at what point in this conversation it became my mess. i drive all of about 10 miles a day. and not in an suv. i dont know why im bothering to argue that one though... im pretty sure that was just another one of those catchy lines idealists through out because it sounds accurate and incriminating. sort of like fur is murder. i think if gas prices went up by a factor of 10 the economy would hit a wall. jobs would be lost, trade and transportation would come to a halt, unemployment and poverty would ensue. after a decade or so of economic depression we would probably end up with your utopia of everyone walking to work. so we could try throwing the country into an economic spiral, tripling the poverty rate, and generally making the populace suffer for a decade, or we could hold out a little bit longer until biodiesel, hybrid cars, and public transportation can be made widely available.

PSSSH. the land lord doesnt need money, ill just tell him to wait. the planet needs it more. im sure hell understand. i dont have this particular problem, but why would peoples kids need food and clothing and shelter? surely its more important to buy a more economic car. since you clearly dont know what it is your talking about, heres a little break down for you. i used to live in livermore ca. the average sized house there now costs about $750k. the reason? silicon valley. lots and lots of technological jobs. if you move 30 minutes east, away from silicon valley, into tracy, the same size house costs closer to 3 or 4 hundred thousand. which, shockingly enough, is enough of a difference for some guy to be able to buy his kids food this month. who woulda thunk?

homes sensible distances from good jobs are in high demand, and are therefor both hard to find, and expensive. public transportation relies on having routes near both your home, and your place of work (and in line with your schedual). hybrid cars are still expensive, and not as useful as other vehicles. for most people, if they could work from home they would. the point, which was clearly not taken, is that its not as simple as everyone just wising up and not using as much gas anymore. people have places they need to be in order to support thier families. it doesnt always work out just right for your idealist plan of everyone working close to home.

yes, mine seems to be malfunctioning as well... strangely enough ive cooked for her, but never vice versa. i think the problems started to occur when they added a new function, commonly referred to as a career. i think this new function may damage some of the earlier operations.
