i used system restore to set it back a couple days, not quite till xmas. it has a small problem where windows restore requires a restart, then when you restart it tries to use normal mode : P

you can do it, my science teacher showed us back in elementary school. i dont remember exactly but i thought it was something about crossing your arms before the rope is tied and then when you uncross them it undoes it. nm.... that was one of the methods we tried and failed with. my girlfriends computer has stopped working. it gets past the screen with the windows logo and the blue bars scrolling across the bottom and then it goes to a grey screen and stops. it will start in safe mode. i know it was working as recently as christmas, but thats about it. they have a large family, so they cant tell me who was the last one to use it, much less what the most recent changes might have been. they also dont have the faintest idea where their windows install disc is, so windows repair isnt really an option. chkdsk didnt come back with any problems. they do have antivirus on the computer, although i havent managed to start the thing in anything but safe mode so i cant tell if its configured to start the scanner on startup. im pretty much out of ideas here : P

read. im gonna tell you that i have never thought of or had someone explain to me any reason why you would get more pleasure, or any other benefit out of driving a huge car to work instead of a fuel efficient one, and therefore, it is a waste of money. note the use of straightforward logic as opposed to unexplained opinions and logical fallacies. i would explain the virtues of a fun outing with friends and family, but your such a troll im not sure your even worth this response. because everyone is allowed to decide that. feel free to spend a dollar a mile on gas getting to work, im not stopping you. im just saying i think your a fool and will disrespect you for not caring about your environment. feel free to back that up with any logical arguement you can think of.... ill wait. i dont care if its extreme sports, just that there is some benefit to driving the larger vehicle. im not at all closed minded about it, any actual benefit to burning the extra gas is fine, i just think driving a big car for the sake of driving a big car is extraordinarily stupid. the 4x4 saves the time and hassle of having to put on chains when you hit the snow, and then having to drive the rest of the way at 7mph, which allows you to get there sooner, spend longer on the mountain, and get more for your money. there are also some situations you can handle by yourself in a 4x4, but not in a 2 wheel drive with chains. for the last time.... no, you douchenozzle. everyone gets to decide whats worth it. i happen to have my opinions on what is worth it and what isnt (i back mine up with actual reasons, and so i consider them more valid) and so when you dont do logical things, like use a fuel efficient car to get to work everyday, i think your a wasteful moron. no laws are being written, no views are being imposed on others, im just having my own opinions on what is worth it and what isnt. and im not a hypocrite for doing so because i have LOGICAL reasons why one is worth it and the other isnt.

absolutely... the point is, you spend money where you decide it is worth it. spending money on wakeboarding is worth it for me. it has lead to some of my best memories. my dad spending the money it would cost to drive his huge suv to work everyday isnt worth it when there are more cost efficient ways available, so he doesnt. so yes, i would criticize someone who drives an suv to work when they have a cheaper, less poluting method available. i also like to wakeboard, and drive a big, 4 wheel drive truck up to tahoe to go snowboarding. and no, i dont think that makes me a hypocrite at all.

whether or not those are wasteful is a matter of perspective. i enjoy wakeboarding, so driving a boat is not a waste for me. it has benefits that make it very much worth while. there is no real benefit to my father driving his suburban (12m/g) to sanfran for work everyday instead of taking the pickup truck and the train (so he takes the train). there is a lot of useful information to be obtained from the people on these forums, but if you cant figure out how to post your arguements without using logical falacies then your not going to get very good responces. when debating you cant just throw out anything you like and expect other people to automatically respect it just because you said it. you have to make sure its backed up by something and that it makes logical sence or else theres no point in us discussing it.

this is where you will run into problems on this forum. its not about the numbers and formulas, its about the fact that you have failed to equate the two activities and yet are stating that because you think one but not the other you are a hypocrit. unless your suggesting that people who drive suvs derive pleasure purely from the act of burning more gas...

you havent shown that those other activities WASTE fuel. one could argue that driving an SUV wastes fuel because it burns more gas for the same result, but there is no more fuel efficient way to go wakeboarding, you have to burn that gas to get the result you want. and aside from any logic i could supply to tell you your wrong, it doesnt matter. as people are trying to explain to you, your not attacking a position that anyone was standing behind. you created your own, slightly different version of someones position and attacked that instead.

i dont know what SSH is or where i would look to see if i have it. ive found a place on the host's site that will let me change the permissions on directories. i told it to give both of the above locations read, write, "browse" and "web" permissions. those are all the available check boxes besides "reset" which they say puts everything back to defaults. after doing this i still get the same error message.

turns out my buddy already uploaded WSN forums, now im working on installing it and it tells me this: "Your languages directory is not writable, so the language file cannot be copied. Either the directory is not chmoded to 777 or the server permissions do not allow a file to be copied (most likely php is running in safe mode). You will have to manually move the file /languages/setup/languages/setup/englishonly.lng to /languages/default.lng in order to select your languages properly.Your config.php file is not writeable. Please chmod 666 or 777 the file config.php and try again." help? when right clicking on the file it informs me "this server does not support changing file permissions" am i SOL?
