oh how i loathe this riddle... it doesnt have a real answer, and the answer they expect doesnt even actually work in the punny way they try to do it. you look in the mirror and "See what you saw" (riiiiight) you take the saw and saw the table in half. two halves make a whole, you crawl out through the hole.

so you think making a solar cell takes more energy than that cell will produce during its entire lifespan?
-
because batteries are expensive and have lifespans. its much cheaper and easier to just pump it back into the system and still buy your power from the company, then just give it back to them with your solar. the power company has much more efficient batteries than you. they are called lakes. all they have to do is reduce the flow during the summer (when the houses are more able to carry themselves) and then release more in winter when solar production goes down.

i dont know about other states, but you cant make profit off of it in california. you can earn back your entire bill, but its just a reduction to your bill, not selling your energy to the company. so the best you can do is not have an electric bill. my teacher did it to his house. its really not a cheap project. he got 2 arrays of panals on his house, i dont remember the exact dimensions, but it was something on the order of 10ft x 25ft for each array. they put out enough power that, with the difference in winter and summer output and all that, throughout the year he breaks even. he puts back as much power as he uses. so its making him around $150 a month. he says it should pay for itself in around 15 years. i should also note that he got some pretty awesome discounts for various things. i think it came out to about 2/3 price in the end.

is said it detected that the norton on access scanner was already active and that theirs couldnt be active at the same time, so it turned off its IM, email, on access, and whatever other scanners it had. but antivirus was alread removed from my system, only the firewall was still there. i removed the firewall and it started doing fine. is there a free firewall i can get too?
-
how do you make a raft big enough to support several tons? much less get the block onto it?
-
avast seems to be clashing with my firewall. does it act as a firewall as well, or do i need to have another program dealing with that?
-
the subscription on my antivirus software just ran out and i really dont feel like (ie, cant afford) throwing more money at it. so im curious, are there good, reliable, and most of all, free antivirus programs? if so, where can i get one? (and no, yourdad, i dont feel like hearing about how i dont have to worry about viruses on linux, )

i can sort of see how a flood might make it easier to move a gian block, but i dont entirely get it. i have trouble imagining them making a boat big enough to actually float an entire block, but it would be easier to lift with a lot of it under water, but i would imagine the hassle of having everything flooded would cause them more problems than actual help. how did they do this?

btw... i cant find psydo anywhere. is this supposed to be psuedo? or does it actually have some meaning i cant find?

rofl so were clear? im a fanboy and your "too gay" to realise im right. glad we covered that. and back on the topic: linux wins if you want lots of web browsing and similar activities, windows will probably be less hassle for most of your gaming needs. done?
-
im the fanboy... good to know. good call, this discussion has gone down the tubes anyway.

which tells me that your family never does anything deeper on that computer than double clicking the icon for their browser. what a shock that they wouldnt see a difference...

i dont remember the specifics, i dont really need to. having to learn a new system is the reason linux will not be replacing windows in most peoples homes for a long time. its pretty common knowledge. linux fans PRIDE themselves on the fact that they use a system that is designed for more capable users. windows is designed so grandmother can use it. im not gonna try to explain all the new and different things that make it confusing for someone whos used to windows.
-
weve covered the fact that i have tried linux. if were switching over to such blantantly false statements as this im done.
-
it really isnt. first of all, it suggests that linux is about as much better than xp as xp is over 95. it also suggests that its about the same as far as what new things you have to learn. neither of those is true.
-
major differences in windows xp... more things are automated and they made the bottom bar prettier? there are plenty of differences, just none that really require you to learn anything new. bad analogy.
-
excellent point. get your xp pro at student pricing with the discount for buying a system with it and it will still put you down $150

no.... those were all just guesses based on nothing... : P yes. of course ive tried it. i wouldnt pass so much judgement on something without trying it. reformatting your computer is a pretty common thing. stuff gets backed up. your harddrive gets filled with junk, you occasionally need to give it a fresh start. i wouldnt normally do it any more than once a year, i was just saying its been a year, which means it should be starting to get cluttered, and i havent started having problems yet. (i guess you dont HAVE to, but it certainly helps things run better) no, it really isnt either of those. i can pick up quite a bit on my own, im sure i could get the rest from online forums, but i dont want to and i shouldnt have to. when i click on the link that THEY PROVIDE for help with a given function in open office and it links me to something that is obviously related, but just as obviously not what i asked about, i call that a worthless help file. you can get plenty of help online, but i dont really feel like waiting for replies on a forum everytime i need help with something. you like that instead of something graphical you have to know their text command to get your updates? O.o althought i have to admit, my one beef with windows is automatic updates. when i go back to my computer in the morning and it tells me it did an update (without asking me) and that this required that they restart my computer, and that as a result of their update all my icons got moved to one monitor, or one monitor stopped working, or my internet kicked out, and i have to fix it... i kinda feel like kicking bill gates in the teeth. thats the only problem i ever have, and since it takes me about 5 minutes to fix it im willing to put up with it instead of having to find a way to get each of my games to work and learning a new system thats designed for people who already know how to use it, as opposed to anyone who wants to sit down and figure i out. i dont consider asking a forum figuring it out on your own.

id hate to turn this into a linux vs windows arguement, as im sure there are already dozens, but why would someone whos used to windows like linux better? speed, i have no idea. reliability i dont buy for a second. im on my computer constantly. on average i probably get over 8 hours every day. i dont remember the last time windows crashed. and im one of those kids who abuses his comp. i download crap, i play lots of video games, i dont do a lot of maintainance, its been almost a year since my last reformat. i have two monitors sucking up resources.... seems to me windows is just fine when it comes to reliability. software i also dont buy. anything really good tends to be made usable for windows because it represents such a large chunk of the comps out there, and there are plenty of good programs that arent made to work on linux, games included. help is the second biggest reason i wont be switching to linux anytime soon. the first is gaming. ive seen the help built into open office.... its the trashiest, least helpful thing i have ever laid eyes on. then theres the fact that a lot of the stuff on linux doesnt even try for a help file because its made by just some guy pounding away on his keyboard instead of a company that actually has to be responsible for its program. all considered, id say switching to linux when your used to windows is asking for a challenge. things arent where you expect them to be and dont work the way you expect them to if youve been raised on windows, and learning the new way is difficult becuase theres no formal help available. im sure it has its advantages, but good luck to you if you decide to switch. : P

xp will definately fit your gaming needs better than linux. they both have all the other ones pretty equally.
