im almost positive your wrong about that. i think you would be very hard pressed to find a propellent powerful enough, and accessible enough, to achieve the same results as with compressed air. i have messed around a little with both. the only gas one i have seen or used was downright pathetic. the most it could get was 75 yards or so. the one i built in my back yard (compressed air) would shoot a spud straight up and leave us enough time to have the next round loaded and on its way to ready before the first one came back down. this thing put a hole in my buddy's fence. i have seen models for compressed air that claim distances of up to a half a mile. the most i have ever seen or heard of from a gas powered model was about 150 yards. if you have evidence to the contrary i would love to hear it. (70 psi is powerful stuff too. i suck at this kind of math, but could someone proficient in chemistry and and physics figure out if that much is more or less than what you can get with hair spray? about as far as i can get is 70pi pounds of pressure on the back of the spud about 220?) all the sites we found with explainations of how to calculate things like muzzle velocity wanted us to use those little things you make in geometry class with a straw taped to a proractor and a washer on a string to figure out how high it was going. we could never figure it out because on the average firing we would all lose site of the thing before its peak. we would all spend a while staring at the sky to make sure we werent gonna get a spud in the head when i finally came back down.

i cant read all these posts to get my self up to speed here, but ill just throw in my 2 cents. i have to say i find it pretty disgusting that anyone would be attracted to a prepubescent person. however, i applaud people who have such urges but resist them instead of hurting a child. i dont really care what the law says, there is just a certain point with each person before which, such a relationship is severely damaging psychologically. the problem i see is how and where to draw the line. my best friend is 17 and is currently dating a 30 year old. technically this is illegal. but if you had seen them together, or even knew each of them seperately, you would realise there is no abuse or coersion taking place in this relationship. but what if she was 16? would that make the difference between acceptable and not? i would say no, she hasnt changed all that much in the last year. what about 15? how far does it go before its not a healthy relationship and is instead one person taking advantage of another? for the pedophiles out there... obviously you think that line is very very early. my question is, what determines for you whether its acceptable or not? when is the person too young? is there such a thing as too young? does it matter only whether the person agrees? does it matter what stage of physical or mental developement the person is at? do you think its even possible for a 9 year old to have developed enough emotionally to be making that kind of decision?

compressed air. or does that fall under the defintion of "gas powered"?
-
thats for a gas one. easier to build, less performance. the one i told you about will shoot farther but requires more effort with each firing and more work building it. oh, and as it mentions on that site, make sure you use schedual 40. other stuff pops sooner.

because you didnt specifically tell me not too, and because both these are funny if you have my sense of humor, im heading down the gross line. (at least the second one) Q: how do make a cat go "woof"? a: soak it in kerosine and light it on fire what? that wasnt funny? this is why i asked... you could have given me a real answer i think i owe you another one now, so lets see if this ones within the limit... Q. how do you stop a clown from laughing? A. Hit him in the face with an axe.
-
ok... the two arent mutually exclusive.
-
how gross are we alowed to get? is racist ok? what about sexist?

what do you want to be able to do? are you looking for birdie machine gun action or do you just want to be able to pelt your sister with a high velocity projectile? a think a spud gun might suit your needs if its the second one. if so there is already a thread on it, look for "spud gun ignition". if your looking for something faster or more sophisticated i cant really help you.

The Official "Introduce Yourself" Thread
Callipygous replied to Radical Edward's topic in The Lounge
*gasp* i never introduced myself! hi im Callipygous. (kyle, if anyone cares : P) i like doing things on my mothers driveway that she finds disagreeable, and i have numerous scars to prove it (scars both on myself and the driveway) my big interests are mostly under physics. -
im sorry, what thing is it, that you have no doubt i have done, that is worse than killing my family pet due to my own ignorance and anger issues and then trying to act like it was justifiable and refusing to take responsibility for my actions? i have been defending my "dogma" through this entire thread. you want me to defend my word choice. THAT is a waste of time.

read the post again... i was saying the four year olds definition of suffering is melodramatic. its just stupid of you to ask me to back up THAT part of my arguement. the defintion of "cruel" isnt something we need to have a debate on. we all know what it means. arguing the defintion of a word is just a tactic to draw attention away from the actual discussion when you dont have any valid points to make.

the problem isnt that he killed the dog. as i have said several times, i understand that people make mistakes. its the fact that he is trying to avoid blame, by saying it was the dogs fault, and he was busy, and it wouldnt shut up... and all that other crap that im on him about. people make mistakes, but they should take responsibility for their actions.

actually the point was that a discussion of one persons moral issues wasnt worthy of being unlocked. dont get me wrong, im more than happy to keep going, i was dissapointed when you closed it. but i have to say i dont think its a terribly productive thread any more. i suppose discussing whether its cruel to muzzle a dog with duct tape might be worth a thread, lets just hope it goes that direction. : P

Would you choose specific traits for your children?
Callipygous replied to blike's topic in The Lounge
what flareon said^^ plus, by the very definition of the minority your describing, we have all the sane, rational, careful, big picture viewing, geniuses on our side. we shouldnt have that hard of a time : ) -
you told me that my picture of a figurine (OF christ, btw), made by someone else, was idolatry. i have no qualms about ridiculing you about that. Idolatry being a chistian sin, and your name being christ slave, i assumed you would also believe in some form or another of hell. my bad. how did this get unlocked? this is more of a discussion of one persons moral fiber than a discussion on dog muzzling. if nothing else it should be "debate on using duct tape to muzzle dogs." because i think we all agree that a regular muzzle is perfectly reasonable in certain situations. its specifically designed, and not just to hold the dogs mouth shut. they actually make them so the straps hit certain spots on the dogs head that release endorphins(sp?) that calm the dog down.

nothing has ever made me happier! do i get to go to hell for it too?? which circle, oh mighty christian warrior? im not treating you like "A" im treating you like an impertinent child who doesnt understand that what he did is wrong and that, yes, the blame does fall squarely on his shoulders, and no, it is not even remotely the fault of the non-sentient dog who was barking. dogs do not make decisions, they have reactions, thats why its called "training" not "teaching". you are programming the dogs brain to react in a certain way, not teaching it how to behave. such a creature is incapable of being at fault. i have already stated that i understand that people make mistakes and that i have no problem with that. i have a problem with the idea that you try to do anything but accept the blame and explain to us that you have already suffered the consequences of your actions and dont need our persecution on top of it. your trying to justify your actions, why?
-
how can i speed the process up? will higher voltage work faster or slower or no difference at all? more electrolytes= faster reaction? if so will i be lowering the production capacity of my battery because it conducts more and uses up the energy?
-
your not acting like it was an accident. the proper way to respond to the assault you are referring to would be something along the lines of "yes, your absolutely right, i did a terrible thing, it was a mistake, i have had to live with the consequences since then and i have learned and wont be making the same mistake again." not a list of excuses about how you were busy and it was late and the dog wouldnt shut up and after all its your dog and its supposed to obey you. take the blame, the dog is an animal, it follows its instincts, its instincts were telling it to bark. you cant be at fault when your not sentient.(i have never seen a dog shut up on command, by the way, it almost always requires you to deal with whatever situation the dog is barking about)

i have a hatred for people who think they NEEDchrist, i have a hatred for people who think christ is the only way, i have a hatred for people who try to force their religion/beliefs on others. i have no hatred for a person who existed 2000 years ago and lead a whole lot of people to lead better, more honest lives.
