  1. i dont care if you did kill the dog or not, that doesnt change the fact that what you did was cruel and that you put up entire paragraphs trying to say its the dogs fault cause he wouldnt shut up and its your right as his master to find a way to make him. maybe this event was traumatic for you... SO ACT LIKE IT. stop trying to make it look like it was a perfectly reasonable thing to do and take some responsibility for your actions. stop trying to tell us he deserved it as a just and reasonable method of discipline.
  2. yeah, sorry. i didnt realize the moron was still trying to defend the action as opposed to presenting it as a mistake he made. but back to the original point... im gonna have to go with a no on the taming cheetas idea. there are enough maulings by violent animals already, we dont need to introduce a far more deadly species into society.
  3. NO get it through your head already! infinity is a concept, it is NOT a living thing, it doesnt have sides, it doesnt have size, length, width, weight, mass, depth, volume, or area. all those things put limits on it, the definition of infinity is LIMITLESS. NO.
  4. wow... you really are just a complete moron... the dog had a cough because of a tumor in its throat and you taped shut the biggest exit from his throat... genius. we do all those things to our dogs because they dont care. dogs dont feel naked, dogs are designed to be out side, and would probably feel pent up if you kept them inside all day. you think the dog wants to drink bottled water? no, it wants to drink from a lake, which would normally be on the ground like a bowl... yes, dogs are very obviously different from children, that just changes which things are abuse and which arent, it doesnt change the fact that abusing either of them is wrong. (incase you were wondering taping shut the mouth of any coughing animal falls squarely in the middle of WRONG)
  5. hmmmm. as much as i despise religion, i think it might be good for some people. almost every religion involves some form of forgiveness/repent. i totally understand wanting to keep this guy away from other animals, but i would call the public lashing i have seen in this thread an overreaction.
  6. ok... i think people should try to cool off a little here. after 9 years a dog is like another member of the family. i have trouble believing that anyone besides a drunk person abuses or hurts such an animal on purpose. i could see how one could make the mistake of not seeing how being duct taped would be that much worse than an actual muzzle. yeah, they would be wrong, but people make mistakes, not everything is common knowledge, no matter how obvious it seems to you. if you didnt put much thought into it you might not realize what a bad idea it is. as for training him not to bark, im sorry but that just doesnt work with some dogs. that instinct is pretty well built in to the animals brain. thats why muzzles even exist, obviously this foolish person should have bought an actual muzzle, but you cant change that now. dont get me wrong, i think its an incredibly stupid thing he did, but you dont kill your family pet on purpose. he obviously feels bad, he obviously wouldnt do something so stupid now, realizing the consequences. people do stupid things, especially when they are young. i agree with your ideas about being liscenced to be a pet owner, and about having someone stop by to check for abuse periodically, but in cases like this i think the guilt and shame of having killed your family pet for your own frustration and ignorance is punishment enough. dont give him another dog until hes been educated, but you dont need to be rubbing it in any more.
  7. anyone else think "hitpoints" when they see "hp"? i wonder if they have 12 step programs for gamers...
  8. http://home.comcast.net/~glenshindel/SpudZooka/Plans/SpudZooka_Plans_Rev_03.pdf page 4 will give you the rough idea
  9. thats closer to what i was talking about than the muscle in your stomache, but not really it.
  10. lol... ill try to find a diagram... diaphram isnt just the thing that moves your lungs, there is actually a form of birthcontrol known as a diaphram too. what im referring to is esentially a rubber washer, with a very small hole in the middle (1/4 inch?) and a very wide outer radius (3-4 inches?) the moves against the barrel when your building up the pressure but then moves very quickly out of the way when your ready to fire.
  11. cost a fortune... lol. the valve costs about 5 bucks, the tubes cost about 10-20 bucks total. (if you want to let the air through real quicklike you dont use a valve, you use a diaphram, which makes the difference between the 2-300 yard model we made and the half mile model you can find online)
  12. fuses.... bah! the gas ones have far to many things that can go wrong with them, and they dont work as well anyway... its all about compressed air. no failed ignitions, no wrong fuel/air ratio, no annoying flames, no explosion to help the police zero in on your location... plus a LOT more distance from what i have heard. i have seen plans for compressed air models thatll shoot 2 inches of spud a half a mile. the one me and my buddies made is only rated to a few hundred yards though...
  13. lol... not quite what were going for. : ) i dont believe you. pm me the answer. martin has answered correctly. : P that was too fast.
  14. came up with one for you guys... make this line shorter without changing anything about it: "__________"
  15. it is essentially grounded, it has water in the way though... thats a good question. will it still follow the wire as long as the rod is the highest thing?
  16. think along the lines of lanes on a highway. 64 bit processors have 64 lanes, 32 bit processors have 32 lanes. the frequency your processor runs at is the speed limit. at 2 ghz a certain amount of data gets processed through your 32 lanes. if you have 64 lanes at 2 ghz... however, 64 bit processors are not twice as fast as their modern 32 bit counterparts. they are faster, due to their bandwidth advantage, but as with all new technology, it is currently eneficient. we arent using it to its full potential. it will get better as more kinks get worked out.
  17. oh, so i guess you calculated it? i can electrolyse water with a nine volt. that will barely arc across a person tongue. the thing were talking about here is packing a big enough punch to bridge the gap between clouds and earth. were talking huge current, huge voltage. the biggest problem i see is the fact that its instant. im guessing that the amount of energy in a lightning bolt will get you a LOT of hydrogen, so what do you do when all that water gets a whole lot less dense pretty much instantly? im guessing you either need some way to spread it out over a longer time or you need a HUGE chamber so it doesnt explode from the sudden generation of a whole lot more volume.
  18. let me watch starwars on my computer? i think thats what dvds use... isnt it?
  19. you do have a freakishly rare combination of interests... cheerleader/soccerplayer who writes scifi (or whatever you would call that dragon stuff you keep asking about), can actually be spotted on a science forum (on a regular basis no less), and has a picture of yoda as her avatar? yeah... i know tons of girls like that. O.o (yeah, thats right, i actually get bored enough to check profiles : P ) hell yeah! this is from a while back, but i dont see how someone choosing to give their children the best health technology can provide means they have serious control issues.
  20. no one wants to help me with this? how about this. if i just wanted to make some hydrogen, forget the whole float up in the air thing. what electrolyte to use? how much voltage? carbon rods better than nails? do i need something that can provide a lot of current? is there a way to pull it off with a 9 volt, or something similar?
  21. for a while i had gotten to a point where i thought the last two words were "screen name" but i never made it any further.
